I can't seem to turn off 'Logic 9 Pro' on the start up.
I've gone into 'System Preferences' and 'Accounts' and un ticked 'Logic Pro' but still no joy!
Any answers would be gratefully received?

Exactly.
I remember running into his "posts" in almost every thread I clicked on that afternoon. It really ticked me off.You would have gone nuts when Sammy D was posting.
His name even gets bleeped out now. *****, *****, *****. See. ;)

The 1.25ghz isn't an "overclocked" 1.0ghz chip. Yes, the 1.25 and the 1.0 aren't much different, but the 1.0 isn't much different than the 867 (or the 600). No one's calling the 1.0ghz an overclocked 600mhz G4.
Just wanted to get that off my chest.

BOINC doesn't support OpenCL or CUDA beyond being a 'gateway' for the apps that use BOINC to enable it. The apps themselves that run in BOINC are the ones that must do the legwork of incorporating OpenCL or CUDA support into the programs. CUDA support on the mac is very limited compared to windows, so you don't see any MacCUDA clients. OpenCL is very promising, but it's still a pretty new technology so I don't expect programmers to really use it much for the time being, but as time goes on that will improve. Also with CUDA much farther along on Windows, which in turn is a majority of BOINC users, there isn't much incentive to use OpenCL yet. OpenCL is 10.6, and 10.6 is a small percentage of Mac, which in turn are a small percentage of BOINC users.
See the problem? Again this will change over time, but for the moment don't expect much GPGPU support in BOINC for macs.
Let's hope this changes!

You need 500 posts.
The FAQ has a lot of information about almost all aspects of this message board: http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:MacRumors_FAQ#How_do_I_set_my_avatar.3F
Btw, Site and Forum Feedback (http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66) is the proper place to ask such questions and discuss the "harsh" rule of having 500 "****ing" posts to have an avatar.

Here's how it would work: The offending posts are deleted from the thread in question, as per normal policy. A moderator moves those offending post(s) to a hidden section of MacRumors, visible only to moderators. Let's call it the, "Evidence" section...
We do keep a record of whatever they did wrong and we review any time-out that is appealed, reversing the time-out (and restoring the user title) if we decide that the moderators shouldn't have assigned a time-out. If that happens, it's unfortunate that their user title showed a time-out status at all, but moderation mistakes are rare so it's not much of an issue. And sometimes time-outs are reduced to shorter time-outs or warnings, rather than reversed, so the user isn't wholly innocent, just less guilty.
How about a user still being able to log in while on timeout but is unable to post. I say this as then you can still have communication from the offending user to the mods via pm (maybe restrict pm to just to mods during this time) vs using the contact us form which requires one to fill out a form to address an issue
It might be possible to do this with vBulletin but it hasn't been necessary since timed-out users can already read the site without posting (by logging out) and they can send us Contact messages outside the forums. Letting them use PMs to talk to other users might be a benefit for users who have Marketplace deals pending, but it's probably good that users who were given a time-out for insulting other users aren't able to send PMs to the people they were flaming. They get a mandatory "cool down" period instead.

So i ran a port checking tool and these are the results. I expected port 80 to be closed because I disabled the web service however mail is on and smtp is enabled with ssl and yet 587 continues to be closed as if nothing were listening on that port.

Cron Jobs can automatically schedule jobs on a UNIX system.
I've never set one up so I've included a link to an O'Reilly article which gives the basics.
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2000/09/27/FreeBSD_Basics.html
Cron is already up & running on OSX server, so all you need to do is configure it.

It wouldn't surprise me if we were all being trolled by one genius behind the *LTD* and Winni accounts. They do have one thing in common, getting them to admit that their opinion may be misinformed is like trying to divide by zero.
Personally, I think LTD is fake... he's having a laugh in his role as uber Fanboi.

what kind of ram did u order and from where? can u please post a link, i want to max out my ram aswell but i dont know which one is the right one to buy for the new imacs
Any DDR3-1333 (PC10600), 1.5V, CL9 204-pin SO-DIMM will work. I ordered Micron (Crucial) since that's almost always what ships in your Mac anyways.

O, speaketh not the name of Satan, for he shalt truly bring despair to us all...or, at least, yet another horrible movie.
Director?? Nay, the Destroyer of IP is he.
I hear if you say his name five times in the mirror - he appears behind you and casts you in one of his movies.... A fate 1 million times worse than death..... :D

There's a video of a Verizon iPhone 4 running on Sprint. Thought I don't believe it lol.
Verizon iPhone 4 Unlocked for Sprint (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJr7P5P0QRM)
Something about it doesn't sound right...
Would be nice if Apple would just open up the iPhone to all carriers so people don't have to hack the phone like this.

Am I a hopeful person in general? No. I generally don't care about anything, least of all hope for anything.
Is it important? It might be. Hope can drive people to great lengths.

So I can take a picture in Photo Booth, drag and drop on desktop to have it there and then delete from within the Photo Booth application and there will be no signs of it in the Photo Booth folder, correct?
Correct. Why not just test it to find out for yourself? It's quite simple to do.

Howdy. My friend has a Jailbroken iPod Touch 3G, and he recently bought a wall charger from China for $3 or something. When he plugs it in to charge it, the iPod displays the infamous message, 'Charging is not supported by this accessory'. Obviously this was an inconvenience. Somehow, by playing around with the iPod, we actually managed to get the charger working. Everytime we tried to plug it in, it gave the same message, but for some reason, we went inside SBSettings, and then into dock, and plugged it in. IT WORKED!! This is the only way we've found to make it work, and I thought it was a bit odd.
Could anyone else try this out and see if it works for them?

I've been collecting an internet video series that is not available on iTunes (the Angry Video Game Nerd -- hilarious show). I downloaded all the episodes from the official website, where they are available in Quicktime format.
I added them to my library, and they appeared as Movies. I changed the Media Kind to podcasts, and grouped them together. The only problem is that my iPhone views these as audio podcasts -- not video podcasts. Therefore, it will only play the audio and not the video. I cannot seem to change the Media Kind back to Movies, and I cannot seem to designate them as video podcasts.
Any ideas on how I can change the metadata, as its not working using the standard options?
