Goo gone. but be careful, it's rather viscous, so it gets everywhere fast. Put some on a rag and then wipe off... probably best to wipe with clean water after, to keep acids from harming the plastic's finish.

I'm a switcher on the fence, about to take a new job where I'll be needing to manage a Windows 2000 network and develop web apps (is Microsoft ASP) . Any thoughts on using a TiBook (or newer if they are ever updated) for all this?
Also I would want to use Visual Studio.Net (for asp.net web development) which would require Virtual PC... is this going to be just wonderful on a mac or am I going to break down in frustration, run out screaming and get a Dell?
(BTW, I'm going against the grain with the Mac approach - the job is at a school with an all Win network.)

Well....the one thing I can say is that these are the prices that those sellers think is worth it for the product. If it won't sell at those prices, the seller will eventually lower the price, so keep watching.
As for the OP's Pismo listing. It does indicate that the seller has refurbished the computer and likely put some time and money into the laptop so perhaps her or she spent $200 or more dollars in effort and equipment and he or she feels $299 is a reasonable price he or she is willing to sell it for. The market will dictate whether he or she is right or wrong.
I have felt the same way in the past when selling some action figures on eBay. All the guides and documentation would seem to indicate that some of the figures I had should be selling for $20 or more yet when I had starting bids over $5, let's say, I rarely had any bites. The only action I had was with auctions starting at 99 cents...and sometimes I got a fair return, most times not. Certainly only 1 out of 20 got me anywhere near where I thought I should be.
So...either these won't sell and the price will drop. Or they will sell to people who want a cheaper laptop and not have the hassle of refurbishing.
(I do agree though, that it's steep and should be a lot lower since one can buy a much newer and faster laptop for similar prices. The market and buyers will dictate.)

Thanks much for your guidance. Much appreciated.
I've moved my HD to the Airport location and plugged it in to the Airport's USB port. The HD is powered up.
How do I get the drive to show up on my remote desktop?
Thanks again,
Bill

If I shine a bright light on the screen, I can see what is going on. Actually, I just know that pressing the power button and then the 'S' button puts a Mac to sleep. I then just let it sit for like 20 seconds, hit the space bar and it woke with the screen lit up.
I don't know that this method works every time. Sometimes I need to reboot the Mac. You do that buy hitting the power button and then the 'R' button.
Thanks, I learned something today. :)
I've always used the Cmd+Option+Eject shortcut for sleep, Control+Cmd+Eject for restart, and Control+Option+Cmd+Eject for shutdown.

Nice machine, and great work! I love that it's paired with the original Imagewriter.

The Apple TV grouping also seems logical as there seems to be the beginnings of an eco-system built around content delivery via iTunes.

what will you be shooting? Are you just going to start off with one lens? Are you going to be enlarging any photos?
Personally, I cannot stand the ergonomics of the rebel line. I find them way too small (which is a plus for many a people), the lack of dedicated buttons (rear dial) is frustrating, among other things.
I would personally get a used 60D over a t3i, which basically the 60D is a Rebel, but with slightly better build. I had a 40D that i had a 17-40L attached to it last spring and I enlarged photos to 13x19 and had no problems with "just" 10MP. You can pick up a nice 40D used for about $450. A t2i goes for about $500 for the body. You can pick up a used 5D for $900-$1000.
But to start out, I would get a used body (check out FredMiranda.com in the buy and sell forum..I have bought and sold thou$ands worth over there in the last 6 or so years) and spend more money on the glass. The 18-55IS II shipped with the Rebel XS, T2i bodies.
Check out the forums at fred miranda. lots of great resources and info there.

I still have not received credit for the WU that was turned in on august 29. I have also not received credit for any WU on the AMD 64 machines however I don't know if they have completed one yet I would think they have. I think I will post on stanfords site.

Thanks Chester

I am trying to understand what Flash Cookies are ?
I know what normal cookies do, but Flash cookies are a little different....
I have heard that Flash Cookies cannot be deleted or are very hard to delete ?
Can anyone explain what Flash cookies are and can do ?!
Thanks!

Hi,
Is it possible to check when a button is pressed and released?
I wanted to do something when the button is pressed and something else when its released?
Let's say print press began when the button at the first touch and print button released when it is released.
Thanks,

I guess you're asking how to encapsulate the animation behavior so it can be easily reused. Good question.
I haven't implemented this so I can only give you some ideas off the top of my head.
One way would be to write an animatingView class. This view has a couple methods that animate the view onscreen and offscreen. Create one of these views. Add any subviews that you like. The animating view has to be added to the view hierarchy (addSubview) with a frame that is offscreen and then animated onscreen and later animated offscreen. The view also has to be removed from the view hierarchy (removeFromSuperview) once its animation offscreen has completed.
Another way is to add the functionality, which is several methods, to a UIViewController subclass and then derive all of your other view controllers from this subclass.
It's also possible that you could add the functionality to UIViewController with a category. It seems that there's probably no state that needs to be maintained so you don't need to add any ivars. Just a few methods. Adding this as a category might be a good way to do this.
Without implementing it myself I'm not sure which of these strategies will work and which is the best.

The iPhone can't handle Charlie with just an A4 processor. After all, we heard Charlie tell us what the "Charlie Sheen drug" will do to you. You need an A5 for that.
Lmao I actually don't even think the A5 would be able to handle it. I'm not sure if you watched his interview or not but his brain is far superior than the normal brain.

Count me in! I'm still thinking about what Apple store to head to though, I usually try to avoid the Fashion Valley one because it's always so crowded there. I'll probably end up a Fashion though. I'll be in line by 3 or 4 depending on how long the line is. :)
64GB 3G iPad here I come.
I would highly recommend going to the Apple store in Eastlake/Otay Ranch. It's a bit of a drive East if you live downtown, but the Fashion Valley is pure madness.

I subscribe to one magazine:

Me too. Well, sort of. I don't actually subscribe because the mark up over here is absurd, but I buy it each month all the same.
Nevertheless, I subscribe to Motor too (the Australian equivalent). Both are awesome magazines for fast car fans. :)

"Dev previews from Demonoid" have the same hash so that is not the issue of any problems.
So stop being a douche trying to convert this thread into a piracy discussion.
We're gonna play a game.
Let's assume that he is in the developer program. That would mean that he has access to the Developer Forums. After all, any person that has legitimate access to the Developer Preview would be able to post there. He could just ask around on there to see if anyone else has had a similar issue, maybe they will have a solution.
Ready to play?
how do i get log of it
and i dont have acces to the developer forum
Damn. Well that game was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?
This is exactly why Apple doesn't do public betas of iOS or Mac OS X.
