After an hour at moderate load I saw the temp stats on my cpus (2 x 3ghz 5160s) were high 40's and the northbridge was up into the 70s.
1 - Should I be concerned about these temps? If not, at what temperature should I start to worry?
2 - CPU B is always about 4-5 degrees hotter than CPU A, even when they are under equal load, has anyone else experienced this?

Most of our new Dell towers come with BTX motherboards. They're so much better than ATX ones. I love the airflow and layout.

so you have the headphones connected via usb
the cheapo soundcard connected via usb
and the standard built in output.
Have you got any normal headphones, even earbuds to test it out? I think the headphones are giving you the trouble with traktor
1. Remove the usb headphones
2. connect your speakers to the usb sound card.
3. Connect your earbuds/other headphones to the built in output.
Setup the aggregate soundcard like mine.
See if that works
You can get a phono to jack cable for about 5
Also with the one i have it only has 2 outputs despite having a headphone socket, so i had to use the aggregate solution to enable monitoring.
Slight progress...When I set up like this
274808274807
Then I can monitor headphones when both channels are muted on mixer otherwise i hear everything plus the one i want to much louder....actualy thats back to square one :(
Using iphone headphones this time...same problem.
Thanks for the help thus far

I got my development job from learning PHP, once you start being able to hook into databases and write "real" functions (something that imo javascript isn't much good for) then you can do some really cool stuff :)
I agree with this. I did web design work for years and never learned how to write javascript from scratch. I would find a script online that was close to what I wanted and knew enough about coding syntax in general to be able to modify it to fit my needs. I think making dynamic web pages that are easy to maintain is more important and php is an easy language to learn to accomplish this.

I would hold off buying, a new mini is 'due' to be released if you consider the typical refresh rate.
Also is your connection wired? if so then 1080p should be fine. I have never had great results over WiFi but I guess that depends on the structure of your home / position of your wireless router etc.

The simple answer is as many as you want: There are no limits apart from with MobileMe: you can only have a single MobileMe account.
You can add as many POP, IMAP or exchange accounts as you want
Thanks, I figured out how MobileMe works and I've added more accounts.

Hello all,
I got my iPad today and promptly installed AIM logging in with the same username as my laptop so I can occasionally leave my room and continue a conversation on my iPad in the living room.
However, it seems like AIM on my iPad is the only client that gets my messages. Usually logging in at two+ locations will have any IMs received at both locations, but I only get them on my iPad. When I look at my laptop, I can see the person is typing but am not getting anything. I checked the settings on AIM and Adium but nothing stands out.
Odd thing is my roommate set up the same approach with AIM and Adium on his iPad and laptop and he has no problems.
Could anyone help?

I have a strange feeling many ppl here would want me to play chrono trigger, which is sitting in the next room. Never played it before.
It was a great game, and the sequel was even better. Chrono Cross is one of only four games ever to get a perfect 10.0 rating from Gamespot.com (the other three were Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Soul Calibur).

Question about ethics:
If i originally posted it for $120 shipped but get a higher offer shortly after the first "dibs" (fairly substantial) is it faux pas to sell to the higher bidder?
Let me know either way Calvinatir. Obviously, I am a little disappointed but you have to do what you have to do..

Hi everyone,
was just interested to know if there are softwares or applications which run in different operating systems at the same time? I mean an application might have two parts. and both of these parts for some reasons run in different operating systems? Does something like this exist?
Cheers,
TwistedMetal.

Has anyone else noticed there windows knowledge slip since moving over to osx?
Not really since I use both often. It just goes with everything, if you stop doing something, you'll forget things about it.
Here's an example I used to dance. I was Ballet and Tap trained. Completed all the grades. Haven't done it for coming up five years now since I lost interest. I can't do the majority of it anymore, even though I am still classed as 'Ballet Trained.'
It happens with everything. If you stop using or doing something, you're bound to forget bits.

One of my favorite shows, NOVA, has made an episode on IBM's 'Watson' supercomputer and its road to competing on Jeopardy! - and it's AMAZING!
There have been several posts in a Jeopardy! thread in the Current Events forum about Watson. But it's Watson! And "The Smartest Machine on Earth" should have its own thread.
The technology used to develop it and what it all means to the future of the computer industry is very exciting and this show should be watched by anyone interested in that.
The NOVA special does not have spoilers about who won the challenge.
Please don't post spoilers about the Jeopardy! taping if you already know the outcome.
Watch online: NOVA - Smartest Machine on Earth (http://video.pbs.org/video/1786674622)
Watch on iPad: PBS for iPad App (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pbs-for-ipad/id398349296?mt=8#ls=1)
The Watson vs Ken Jennings vs Brad Rutter Jeopardy! Challenge will air on February 14-16.
Yo, it's gonna be tha bomb, dawg!

There's this awesome show called "MythBusters" and they tested this theory out-- it is true, using the AC kills fuel economy when compared to just having the windows down.
Two SUVs were used; exact same specs, model, everything... Same exact amount of fuel put in and one driver blasted the AC the whole time while the other drove w/ the windows down. They drove around and around an open race track. Although the data was screwy nobody could deny the truth because the AC using SUV rolled to a standstill over a half an hour before the windows-down SUV did.
I saw that one. Jamie sure was cold by the end!
But I don't think they were as thorough as they should have been to definitively answer that question. They left out the speed variable, and they only tested it on an SUV.
The reason I think it makes a difference is that when my wife's turns the AC on in her Civic with it's ~120 HP there is a noticeable drop in available power. If you really want to accelerate in that car you turn off the AC until you hit cruising speeds again. But in my truck with ~200 HP there is no noticeable drop in power. Thus I speculate that the effect of the AC might just be more pronounced on the smaller car because it takes roughly the same amount of power away from an engine to turn an AC compressor regardless of engine size.
Who knows, that might just make the Mythbuster's proof that much more positive. But her car is also vastly more aerodynamically superior, so an open window might affect it more...
I just don't know. I think you'd have to do some pretty extensive testing to say definitively.
