If you have trouble with the favicon (or your host does) you can also add a link tag in the head of a page that points to an image.
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/myfavicon.png" type="image/x-icon" />

just a thought, OWC do a stacking device that allows an SSD + Hard Drive in the 2nd optical bay. That would give you 6 drives in total.
That's the direction I am currently looking at for my set up. The other day, when I cleaned out the dust I laid another SATA cable into the optical bay, ready for when I can buy the SSD.
I have 2008 MP.

Exactly.
You still feel bad Abstract?
Yes. Wow, that backfired for you, didn't it?
Dude, I don't know about everyone else here, but I'm not hooked on Mac stuff, especially the iPhone. In fact, I can get any Mac laptop, iPad, or iPhone for 30% off, and even then I haven't bothered with them.
I'll drop iPhones just for you, if that makes you feel better.

How is your server connected to the internet? Do you have port forwarding/NAT/Port redirection enabled on your router to route traffic received on your external address to SLS?
eg <public Ip address> port 25 NAT to <192.169.1.2> Port 25
your A host address on GoDaddy may send the SMTP mail to your router, but the router needs to know where to deliver it on your LAN, ie what private IP address the server sits on.

Yep, deinstall it and reinstall it! Then you can configure it again and you could download another one that is for dual cores.

Here in Houston, there have been billboards about this for months.

I do wonder what people expect is going to happen on May 21, and what they will do when nothing does.

I remember when Ryan Block left Engadget and people were saying similar things, wondering about Engadget's future. Josh eventually grew into the role and now he's leaving. While it's sad to see him go, I'm sure someone else will eventually fill the spotlight.
But did three of the top contributors leave with him? I think the fear is that both Miller's, Nilay and Josh left within a few months. Usually when you have an exodus by senior staff that isn't a good sign. Plus their posts are getting more and more snarky ala Gizmodo which is why I don't read Giz.

I was wondering if anyone could help out a panicking female here. I've recently discovered two cracks in the plastic of my Macbook.
The first one is near the hinge. A tiny, hairline crack-
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e101/geezabird/crack1-back.jpg
What makes it more worrying is this crack round the other side-
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e101/geezabird/crack2-front.jpg
I purchased my MacBook in September 2010 so it's still under my year warranty and I purchased the three year extended warranty as well (what with the student discount I couldn't really say no). It's the smallest, 13.3" MacBook. I have never dropped it and it's never had any knocks or bumps so the fact that these have appeared is rather worrying.
I was wondering if this is just cosmetic damage or if I should get it looked at. I'm worried the more I open and close my macbook, the bigger the crack by the hinge will get and possibly cause some serious damage. Also will the warranty cover this? To someone who doesn't know, the cracks make it look like I've accidentally dropped my MacBook meaning they're my fault.
Thanks in advance for any help

that would be hilarious if:
1.) apple hadn't ALREADY changed the tech world so many times
a) apple I (first PC that changed the industry, and made every one follow in apple's footsteps)
b) macintosh (first PC with GUI that changed the industry, and made every one follow in apple's footsteps)
c) powerbook 100 (first modern portable computer)
d) iMac (first real pc to capture "trend" status)
e)apple quicktake (first truly consumer level digital camera)
f)apple newton (first truly consumer level PDA, and the godfather of all current smartphones, minus the phone, obviously.)
g)apple ipod (first digital music player that changed the industry, and made everyone follow in apple's footsteps)
h)apple iphone (first smartphone to incorporate a multi-touch screen and take full advantage of the phone as a mobile computing device)
i)apple ipad (first tablet PC that changed the industry, and made everyone follow in apple's footsteps)
I totally agree, outside of those areas, apple has made no significant impact on anyone's life. The question that you need to ask yourself is "How many products that apple has had very direct influence on do I use on a day to day basis?"
I'm assuming most, if not all of the previously mentioned products find their way into your life pretty regularly.
Thank you for actually changing the world...just like you said you would, apple.
I think you're misunderstanding the point of that, which was more to poke fun at the obsessive Apple users.

What have you read?
What have you tried?
Have you read the USB Device Interface Guide?
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/DeviceDrivers/Conceptual/USBBook/USBIntro/USBIntro.html
Have you looked at the other references on the first page of that guide?
Have you looked at the sample code referenced on the first page of that guide?
Have you joined Apple's USB mailing list and asked there?

Normally if you want to know if something has happened, your c program has to ask, usually in a loop. Can I do this the other way? If, for example a file appears or a usb port is used, can the c program be told without asking. I'm trying to limit use of the computers resources.

So does anyone have an idea why this may be the case? I'm not sure it was discussed earlier but I couldn't find it on the forums.

My son has my old 2.8 Dual G5 with a 30' ACD he wants to use After Effects CS5 which will only run on an intel processor. I have a Quad Core Mac pro but never have the free time to let him use it.
He is considering buying a mac mini 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo so he can use After Effects. Has any one had any experience doing this? is it practical solution baring in mind we can use the mac pro to render files over night.
Any thoughts appreciated
Graeme

If it came with the iPod and you tell them the real date of purchase they won't replace it. Yes it is unethical to lie about things like this, but saying it "came with my sister's iPod around the 22nd" usually works.

Wikimedia seems to have bugs with '&' characters in titles. The 'Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White)' page was never actually deleted, it's just that when you tried to go to it it would take you to 'Power Macintosh G3 (Blue' instead.
