Not much to say that the title already hasn't. Where have you seen really old Macs that are still in use every day?
I'll kick the thread off. A few months ago when doing a one-shot voiceover gig, the guy at the front desk of the recording studio I went to was still using one of the original translucent white iBook G3s. It was running OS X, but I didn't look closely enough to see what release. This was in Tokyo, up towards Akihabara.

I'm of two minds, which I don't think are really all that incompatible.
The cynical pragmatist side says, "hope in one hand and crap in the other, and see which piles up first." Hoping things work out is no substitute for doing something, anything, to make them work out. I grew up around people who took "hope" to suggest they should just let everything go and trust "God" to make their lives work out as "He" sees fit, and that passive attitude disgusts me.
On the other hand, hope is the counterpoint to despair and resignation that the worst will happen despite what we do. Hope can encourage us to take positive action when we would otherwise be discouraged into complacency by the perceived likelihood of failure. I have seen too many people with negative attitudes who have an almost uncanny tendency to get exactly what they expect out of life. Depressive fatalism likewise disgusts me.
The common thread, of course, is that hope is valuable to exactly the extent it gets you off your ass and into the game. Whatever encourages that is a virtue; whatever discourages it a vice.
As for my own sources and objects of hope, that's a bit too personal for PRSI.
Fantastic post... one of MANY! Though it's a terribly embarrassing cop-out, I really couldn't put it any better so I don't dare try, it's hopeless. :p

Okay, after using it for a little while, the only real complaint I have is that the Personal Toolbar Folder items show up in a rather small font size that looks cruder than it should.
You mean the contexual menu that pops up? Unfortunately, I don't think I can edit the font size. The default theme is the same size. The beauties of a non-native browser...
@mkrishnan:
You can actually shrink the main toolbar icons to smaller so that the toolbar is safari size by "right clicking" on the toolbar and clicking customize. But as luck would have it, the small version of my toolbar buttons are clud still. It's on my to do list before the theme reaches 1.0.

Really gang?
Spend 20 seconds looking at MacRumors forums and you'll find dozens valueless, off-topics posts that don't get deleted. Please don't hide behind that.
Ha ha. I think I just got accused of being trollish for pointing out something that Arn says ought to be disclosed anyway. This is rich.

I am not excited about this information being stored. However, until there is proof that the data actually gets sent back to Apple, I think Apple gets a temporary pass on this. But they are going to need to prove it in the media.
This is a good and important distinction, that the iPhone is storing the data but not sending it to anyone.
It brings to mind the question of why does the iPhone hold onto the location data for years? If it's not being sent to anyone else, then it means its collecting it for on-device services. I can't think of anything the iPhone does that requires it to know every location you've ever used it in all the time you've owned it. Hell, the only thing I can think of is that Maps might want to know your last known location so that it knows what to show on start up, in the event of crash or something that requires Maps to start cold.

It's a trade show. In America, most educators aren't paid crap and therefore they'll be treated like crap at industry trade events, especially hojillion dollar industries like IT. They don't see you as a walking cash register, so they don't care about you. It's a sad reality - we treat our educators like dirt.

The mirror idea was done almost as soon as the iPhone came out in 2007:
Mirror video conferencing on iPhone (http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/13/mirror-based-video-conferencing-developed-for-iphone/)
Pretty clever-looking, actually... at least for desktop use.

Apple has really missed the boat with Sketch/Search feature. Would be infinitely useful inside Google Maps.
Guess we need an app for it.
I'm not sure what you mean here. Is it Apple or Google that's missed the boat? You're placing blame on the iPhone's manufacturer/OS for what an included 3rd party app is lacking, in your opinion?
Is this not another third party developer thats come to your rescue, on the same device/OS? What boat has Apple missed?

But maybe I will be suprised because by now I set my expectations so low...:D You can go to the education area of the Apple Store (http://www.apple.com/education/) where you can find prices that are somewhat lower for those available to the general public. You don't have to wait for promotions, although those may reduce your price even more.

You need to set up your Express to join the network created by your Time Capsule. Then you'll be able to stream to it while connected to the Internet. As it is now, you're creating two entirely separate networks.

I've been using iChat A/V since it's release and it's been working beautifully. I've even got an iSight and have been chatting no problem w/ it. Just the other day I started up iChat turned on my iSight tried to view myself by clicking the video camera by name and iSight unexpectedly quit. I tried and again and the same thing. I tried having my friend invite me to a video chat...as soon as I accept it quits. I tried inviting someone....same thing. I tried just doing audio....same thing. I tried throwing out all iChat files and reinstalling. SAME THING. Anyone else have this problem or a suggestion on how to fix?

I think you are confusing being radiated with giving off radiation.
Exterior radioactive material washes off, but the damage to the organism has already occured.
Watch Dr. No. ;)
Exactly. The OP seems to misunderstand cause and effect. All one needs to do is take a look at Chernobyl and one can see that wild animals have not had a negative impact on surrounding areas. In fact, the no go zone around Chernobyl has ended up being somewhat of a refuge for endangered species.
