That book (Kochan's Programming in Objective-C 2.0) is what is recommended in the Guide at the top of the forum indeed :
http://guides.macrumors.com/Cocoa_FAQ#What_book_do_you_recommend_for_learning_Cocoa.3F
If you already have some programming experience with C++ (your initial post stated you were new to programming), you should be fine to delve into it directly.

Adoption rate dropped marginally last night. Downgraded to 3.1.3, and at long last, my 3G is usable again!

wondered whether Starbucks being from Seattle was the choice there. Yet another Californian dig at Washington state
Probably some connection to the Rumor that Starbucks wants to put iTunes downloads in its stores.

Another question guys. People said once I use the turbo SIM I can not turn the cell phone off anymore. Why that?

I'm thinking about selling my MacBook now. Do any of you think there will be a significant design change to the white one?

After you submitted your entry, we added mention in the rules that you can suggest a title for your contest entry, to be used in the contest gallery.
We can use "Good enough for Lincoln" for yours, unless you have another preference.

I was there for the WIFI iPad launch at Fashion Valley. It was not that bad.
About how many people where waiting in line you think for the WiFi launch? Im not sure what time I should get in line.

I was typing on my iPad earlier today and i discovered something very odd. I was trying to type the word 'touch' and for some reason I accidentally pressed an 'n' and a spelling suggestion came up saying 'touchmac'. I typed it in pages and the same thing happened. I typed it into google and nothing came up, and there was obviously no dictionary definition either. Does anybody have any idea what this means? Or is it something really obvious that i'm missing?

I'm a switcher on the fence, about to take a new job where I'll be needing to manage a Windows 2000 network and develop web apps (is Microsoft ASP) . Any thoughts on using a TiBook (or newer if they are ever updated) for all this?
Also I would want to use Visual Studio.Net (for asp.net web development) which would require Virtual PC... is this going to be just wonderful on a mac or am I going to break down in frustration, run out screaming and get a Dell?
(BTW, I'm going against the grain with the Mac approach - the job is at a school with an all Win network.)

Will be at the AT&T on Milwaukee first thing Friday Morning. Still trying to decide on the upgrade from my v1 iPhone to v3G, but will be there to share in the fun and check it out up close (if I can get my hands on a display model!) to finally decide on upgrading. Chances are I am walking out with one (as long as they have a white one left!)
Anyone else in Boise planning on being there first thing Friday?
So glad MacLife isn't allowed to carry these (just lost their license to even carry ipods!), it would be a huge cluster f__ just like any average day trying to make a purchase in their unmanaged store.
See you Friday morning at Milwaukee!:D Please post if your in Boise and plan on attending!

This is the version with the full number pad and acrylic back. In very good shape with no noticeable wear on the front. Some light wear on the back, but its friggin' acrylic so what do you expect :D
$35 is my price, and it seems pretty fair for a great bluetooth keyboard. PayPal accepted and shipping is included in that figure.

"I guess my concern is with the unfamiliarity with the structure of the backup folder itself. Leaves me wondering what may happen if/when technology fails and this becomes corrupt for something."
This is EXACTLY why I recommend to others that they DO NOT use Time Machine for backups.
Time and time and time again -- right here on Macrumors -- I read postings of the essence, "help, my hard drive crashed, and I'm trying to access my Time Machine backup, and it won't mount, etc., etc."
If they had used one of the "clone" backup utilities that create bootable backups in POFF (plain ol' finder format), they wouldn't be posting those messages. They'd be up and running in a matter of minutes.
But because of the way TM "packages" its backups, there can be problems in "moments of extreme need". And we see the results right here on Macrumors.
TM gives the illusion of making backups simple, easy, and "automatic", and, as far as that goes, it does. It's EASY to "backup" with Time Machine.
What can be DIFFICULT is trying to ACCESS those backups later on when the user is beset with all kinds of problems.
Yes, it takes more effort and forethought when you use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper as you backup tool. BUT -- when things have gone all to h*** and you're wondering what to do next, they make it blindingly EASY to get restarted. TM does not.
That's the difference.
