Hello,
new to motion, but noticed how much RAM it hogged, gobbled up all 8 gigs avail.
i have dimms 3,4,7 and 8 open with the rest of the slots filled with 2GB.
How much should I shoot for and whats the smart way to fill slots?
Thanks!
Wow...really depends on what you're doing in Motion (i.e. HD video with multiple layers). But I've done Motion with 4GBs of RAM and didn't notice much of a slow down.
Of course, adding RAM won't hurt - just remember to install RAM evenly (ie. all the sticks be the same amount).

You can still add Keywords easily to photos or groups of photos same as you could in older versions of iPhoto if you open the Keyword manager first (command+k). Select the photo or a group of photos and click on the Keyword from the list of Keywords. Another way is to put a check mark next to Keywords under the View menu and then use the show "Info" button at the bottom of iPhoto, this will let you select photos and type in a Keyword where it says "Add a keyword...."

Are you using static ip? If so you will need to properly set the dns and default gateways manually to match the setting provided by your router when using dhcp.

Can a home directory exist on a firewire device?
Is the firewire device automounted at boot? Or only mounted once a user logs in? Something to think about..
Anyway, here's some more ways to move your /Users to another partition:

Colors are awesome, Really noisy though.. I'm not a professional photographer but *I think* if you lowered your ISO and increased your Aperture that would help fix it?
I'm probably wrong so don't think I'm acting as a know it all, I'm just suggesting what I think might help.
Otherwise, Great angle and really cool shot anyway!

I just switched from PC to Mac. I received a Base Station Snow Second Hand and the Password is unknown. Is there a way to reset it on the Base Station itself, or is there a way to reconfigure it using my Setup Assistant under Utilities?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the older airport base station has the same paperclip hole in the bottom.... I think that's the answer.
Thanks.

Awesome Note is great.
Awesome Note is not bad: beautiful, powerful and with alarm notifications.
But I recommend Things. Because it is more intuitive and more easy-to-use!

Since the 10.6.7 update one has to hold down the CMD key while dragging items off the Sidebar.

Check your USB devices, then what drivers you may have installed. Sounds like something is crashing the finder.
Unplug all USB devices (except the Apple keyboard and mouse of course), and see if your system still does it. Then, if it works fine, plug in a device at a time, until you can identify the guilty party.

okay so I did a local telnet from a client and I was able to login to 192.168.1.2 on ports 143, 993, 995 but NOT on ports 25 and 587. I guess this means the router is free and clear however I still cannot understand why SLS is closing those ports. I dont have firewall services enabled and when I did use it I opened up everything but it still didn't work. ????
so i'm trying to use the firewall with sls and i have opened up every port, or so I think i have done it succesfully, and yet the only port that i can see 143 from the internet. Even internally I cannot telnet to any other port other than 143. I have no idea why sls is blocking every port even thought I'm telling it to open up everything!

A pair of Apple's competitors in the smartphone market haven't forgotten that not all Mac users use the iPhone as their mobile phone, as both Research in Motion and Microsoft this week pushed out updates to their Mac OS X software that allows users of the companies' smartphones to sync to their Macs.

You have to save the disk image to another drive other than the one your are making an image of. You can't copy something onto itself. In other words, you need a second hard drive or another partician to save to.

Graphics are impressive, VERY impressive, but the gameplay looks EXACTLY like Rogue Squadron 3. Even down to the "run around on foot" parts.

A pic would help. Many people confuse an SE with an SE-30.
The floppy disk icon means that a bootable system could not be found. The reasons for this are numerous. Hard drive physically removed, corrupted HD, no blessed System Folder on HD, a failed HD.
The more information you can provide will assist in diagnosis. Removing the rear cover and taking a few pics and even recording the sound the unit makes (closely mic'd). when powered up.
Creating a boot floppy and attempting to boot from that may also glean more information, or, it may not. :(

Or did they ever make them with the newer built in battery? Also, were the 2.0 and 2.4 ghz models the same release? How big of a difference are the two in processing power? Thanks : )

I thought there was a discussion back when Apple was switching to Intel about having stickers.
Intel and others pay the computer company to have the sticker placed on the machine as part of the marketing.
Obviously, Apple took a pass...
