I've had a similar set up in the past. I used iPhoto to organize my photos and used it for minor photo editing and using PS Elements for other editing needs. This worked for me for several years. I only recently started using Aperture 3 to manage my photos and still using elements for editing. I think iPhoto is great for basic organizing and editing. I would say to play with it and see how you like it. But I preferred iPhoto over the Adobe organizer that came with elements.

eva01 gives great advice. Just to add to it, you don't need to think about AppleCare straight away. You get it standard for the first year of your Mac anyway and you can purchase it anytime within that year. :)

But yes, if you want to save money, a RAID0 from mechanical drives is fine for scratch. Just make sure it's backed up.
So the scratch disk berea to be backed up too? I thought the scratch disk (in this case used just for Photoshop) is used just for overflow if you run out of RAM and once you are done working on the particular file and save it, it clears the scratch disk?
What kind of backup would be appropriate anyway? Time Machine only backs up hourly and files being worked in may not even be open that long.

Just an update. I think I'll be at West County Saturday (yes, the day after Leopard is released) but then my parents will be with me and they said that for my Christmas present they're going to buy a Mac mini. Come on, Apple! Don't kill it yet!

Nothing amazing.
It's pretty cool, you just might want to try to get rid of the skip that happens on every cycle...
Another thing--could you shrink the sig?!!! Thanks! ;)

I'm a huge fan of musicals (Wicked, Rent, Hairspray, Cats, Chicago) Anyone else know any good Musicals? Whats your fav? :) Mine's Wicked but Chicago and Rent are close behind!

I've recently been playing around with N64, and remember how great the graphics looked on Tekken Tag (my first PS2 game, on the day it came out here after a midnight queue) compared to that. It is amazing that we have come that far in such a short timespan. Tekken Tag looks rubbish compared to the latest PS2 games...
I don't care what Nintendo says, for a lot of games, the graphics improve the gaming experience greatly. I do not currently (and may never) have a PS3, but I am sure that this Lair will look dreadful in a few years compared to what will have been achieved on the same hardware.
Yeah, right now, these graphics look amazing. If you think these graphics look bland and repetitive, I imagine if you look at it on a 1080p monitor, it'll blow your mind away. Watching this video doesn't show off the true potential. I really want this game now. I'm sure there's much more that they haven't even shown yet.

It's a terrific panel. It's everything people say it is. Honestly.
It's $1269 CAD for the iMac 27” - Core i3 3.2 Ghz refurb. Is this a good deal?
Also, is resolution independence from OSX Lion going to improve the 27" viewing experience?
Thanks for the help!

Oh yea long line. I don't know how familiar you are with the Galleria but the non reservation line was almost out the door at the end of Forever 21.
Luckly I had a reserved phone, I was just about at the end of the window on the side (where the black part turns to tile). I got to the apple store at 6:20, out by 8ish

What OS X app would be good to benchmark SD cards? I have a couple different Class 10s and I'm curious what their actual speeds are.

Hi,
Has anyone else found that they can no longer listen to music whilst changing the settings in their iPhone 4.
This has happened to me ever since I upgraded to iOS 4.3.2. It is so annoying. I cannot turn on or off wifi, mobile hotspot, change iPod EQ settings etc. without the music pausing.
Any solution? Anyone know why Apple have done this?
Thanks

I want this one. I don't want the Zeppelin, because you have to have the ugly iPod dock hang off of it. I don't want the JBL dock because it has too many buttons and a screen on it. I just want the nice, classy iW1. I want three actually for multi-room audio.
I looked for an official "where the heck is the iw1" thread, and I could not find one...

My problem with the video was not the careful choice of the words "Android Operating System." I have an HTC MyTouch 4g and the first thing it tells me is that I need a Google Account and that it can send "anonymous" information back to Google. Then within each Google Application that you install the permissions of the App say the same thing. So yes, I can opt out of all of those, but to say that the Android Operating System doesn't collect data is cherry picking. The Android OS comes with Google Applications that do collect data.
I have never assumed though that on a GPS enabled smartphone that my location is private (ever watched any TV show and you'll know that), but I believe that in this case, it was on oversight on Apple's part and now it is going to have to pay the price for that oversight. Sad, but true.

The only difference between me and the homeless guy standing outside of MacWorld is the fact that I paid $300 to get in.
Reality check: you paid voluntarily, for a pass that provided a set and disclosed number of services which you didn't properly inform yourself about beforehand. Buyer's remorse is not anyone else's responsibility. It sounds like you should have purchased a different pass instead.
I don't want a refund. I just think they should either offer more for educators or don't offer this type of package.
Perhaps a better solution would be to research what is involved with the pass before sinking $300 into something. If it was a bad deal and the educator sessions didn't interest you (note that those sessions are the primary REASON for the educator pass, and if you're not going to use them, there goes the justification right there), then it would behoove you not to spend so much money.
Were you completely unaware of these facts prior to you going? I guess you wouldn't know you didn't get a bag, but otherwise? And shame on you for calling it "borderline discrimination". Really now. But my guess is you had to have had some knowledge of the days events with your "educator" pass and filing a complaint will not do you any good.
Precisely.
The package isn't that great of a deal for nontechnical educators. It's not a "student/teacher discounted admission" pass. Even for many technical educators, other types of admission are more helpful. Still, this is for the purchaser to determine beforehand.

How ironic that one of the biggest topics discussed is Steve Jobs thoughts on FLASH not being necessary and that's being fiercely debated in another thread here, yet no one on an iPAD can even watch this video on Macrumors!
Too Funny! LOL :D
FAIL. How ironic that you fail at reading post #6.
Where do you think that video comes from? When you visit the original page on iPad or iPhone you get non-flash version of the video.

And for taking sideways pictures.
Douche. Get your phone, and take your Ed Hardy shirt back to whatever Cinnabon you work at.

If it were me and the current Mac was doing all that I needed, I would keep the current model. It would come down to cash flow. Only you know your finances.
