No. Too slow, not upgradeable enough, USB 1.1 and no Firewire.
An iMac 400DV with Firewire for that price would be worth looking at.

From Apple's new site:
"Source code for the kernel of Mac OS X 10.4.7 for Intel are now available. Several changes were made in order to publish the kernel (xnu) sources. As a result, the kernel built from these sources differs from the one found in the 10.4.7 software update. In order to accommodate these changes, several kernel extensions were also modified and must be downloaded and installed in order to run a kernel built from these sources on Mac OS X 10.4.7 for Intel."
So they haven't released the version of the kernel that is 10.4.7 as open source, they've just released something very closely resembling it, with no public comment about what's different, near as I can tell so far.

I recently purchased an iphone that need the docking/charging port and battery replaced. I purchased new OE replacement parts and repaired the phone but now only have one bar of signal strength. Also, the phone keeps switching between Edge (E) and 3G network. All features (wifi, camera, itune sync etc. on the phone are functioning and all connections that I noticed are tight. does anyone have any ideas on what to do next? I have reset all network connections and retored the phone to the factory settings. Thank you!

... and don't wash there hands.
Where hands?? There, hands?? ;)
Love your avatar. Giggle every time I see it. :)
There are many, many small bottles of hand-sanitizer about, some even give-aways. Maybe you should suggest that your store install an auto-pump dispenser, near the front door, to be used on entering and exiting?
Germs should not be a reason for failing to touch the goodness that is Apple. :D

Yeah i really like those sites that convert music from youtube into mp3 format. They shut down limewire but not those sites? Go figure!
How limewire actually got shut down is still a complete mystery to me. It's an application that allows users to utilise the gnutella P2P network, it's not a 'service' itself. If limewire got shut down, why not uTorrent/Transmission/Deluge, unless I'm missing something they're doing the exact same thing that limewire were, but on a different protocol.

I am assuming that you are ripping the tracks as MP3 format files. The pause between tracks is a result of MP3's file structure, and it is impossible to have gapless playback with MP3's. It's not just iTune/iPods, no MP3 device or player will do gapless MP3 playback (if they do, it's a crossfading type trick). You should try re-ripping the CD in AAC or another format that supports gapless playback.

I know it doesn't work with what apple's vision of what the shuffle is, but to me, the current nano would be the perfect shuffle and a new nano with a larger screen (but still significantly smaller than a touch) with a click wheel would be the perfect nano....maybe in a few generations

I always enjoyed reading Josh's posts, it is unfortunate that he is now leaving what I think is a great site and I hope it continues to run well without him.

Not much I can do about ISO3200 on an original 1D body, and I think that the natural noise looks better than heavily processed noise reduction stuff. Thanks though.
I completely agree about that last part, applying noise reduction just for the sake of it is seldom the right thing to do.
It is painfully obvious in many blu-ray encodes for example. Some genius "improves" the picture by applying noise reduction and sharpness filters without understanding of the process, resulting in an artificial look with many details annihilated. Yuck.
Anyways, don't get me wrong, I really liked the picture and found it to be very impressive. Composition is far more difficult (and important) to master than post-processing in my opinion.

urgh, I hate this time of year "April fools, April fools!!'" Yes, Nintendo, Sega and the Olympic committee are trying to fool you on March 28th. Cant wait till April 2nd so we won't have to put up with crys of April fools on every announcement.

I can't believe anybody can get too excited about this.. it's an Olympic game made by Sega Japan...however, Miyamoto is supervising so you never know..
The game's currently in development by SEGA Japan and Shigeru Miyamoto is supervising the project.

Just an update. I think I'll be at West County Saturday (yes, the day after Leopard is released) but then my parents will be with me and they said that for my Christmas present they're going to buy a Mac mini. Come on, Apple! Don't kill it yet!

Sorry, I read somewhere on xlr8yourmac.com that you couldn't do this. This was my plan, too, but it doesn't look like I'll be getting a g5 this summer anyway.

WiFi needed to download, but once downloaded they do not need a connection to play. Putting my i4 on airplane mode it continued to play, however they do have an expiration date. I'll assume they either won't play or automatically are removed after that date.

Do you have a local option to buy the RAM? I've bought my upgrades from Fry's because they have stores in my area and their prices have been competitive.
