This thread is so full of fail it hurts! :D
What you're talking about is a basic function of an iPhone (backup/restore)
Boggles my mind that a large portion of the iPhone having population doesn't even know how to use it.
Glad you are enjoying yourself - it seems you are easily amused.
It is not always safe to assume that through the backup/restore process that every little thing is backed up - many manufacturers treat SMS messages differently - I wanted to be sure.
Thank you for making me feel welcome.

Several news sites are reporting on the Nasdaq notice (http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1040_22-6104812.html) Apple received last week which places Apple on warning for delaying its quarterly filing. Apple has been investigating (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/06/20060630003057.shtml) irregularities with stock option granting over the years 1997-2001 that could have affected their financial statements. As a result, Apple has informed the US Securities and Exchange Commision (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/08/11/apple_to_miss_sec_filing_date/) that it will miss the deadline for filing the most recent quarterly figures.
This delay has prompted a warning from Nasdaq that Apple is not in compliance with the exchange's rules:
"We fully anticipated receipt of this letter," Apple spokeswoman Katie Cotton told CNET News.com. "It's a matter of procedure. We're focused on resolving this matter as quickly as possible."
Meanwhile, Apple has requested a hearing (http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=ind_focus.story&STORY=/www/story/08-11-2006/0004414800) and Apple's stock will remain listed in Nasdaq pending that hearing.
As first announced on June 29, an internal investigation discovered irregularities related to the issuance of certain stock option grants made by the Company between 1997 and and the Company has proactively informed the SEC. The Company is focused on resolving these issues as quickly as possible and plans to file its Form 10-Q following completion of the independent investigation by the special committee of Apple's outside directors.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the Mac forum but I had a couple of them when I was younger (LC580 & Performa 6116CD). Anyway my Mac Mini is coming in a few weeks and I need to get a keyboard that matches it. I REALLY like the Apple keyboard (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=305061&pfp=BROWSE) but I won't be able to stand the one button mouse that goes with it. I'm also considering this (http://www.kensington.com/html/6388.html) but i've never seen it in person so i'm not sure. This (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25445&item=5155368258&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) is nice and would go with the Apple keyboard but i'm not so sure about the build quality. Can you guys give me some suggestions on what I should do? Looks are everything to me, also no wireless devices please.

I had the same issue, the screen protector was covering the speaker. If not, try a restore. After that, the only thing you can do is taker it into your apple store.

For actual written fiction, visit:
http://www.homepage.mac.com/citizensane/Personal1.html
and click "words".
At the moment, almost all of the material is extracted from screenplays that I've put together: plans are in motion to get "regular" fiction up in the future.

while the symbolic link should surely work, it's not really UNIX-like elegant solution to this problem. just think about it: you want "mount that another partition to appear as home folder", so instead of linking anything, you could just have that another partition to be called "/Users" for example. and then, every time you access anything /Users/whatever the system will use the partition that has been mounted to /Users
you need to modify /etc/fstab file (in command line interface, using a text editor, pico for example) that tells the operating system what drives to mount and where.

I'm just spurting this off the top of my head. Walmart.com has some preowned video games, and may just have preowned iPods from time to time. Don't quote me though.
You could also start a "Want To Buy" thread here in the marketplace. I find our MacRumors users quite trustworthy.

I swear I looked through the help options till my eyes were ready to bleed.
Don't suppose you know how to make the new settings the default?
I mean....since I'm picking your brain......

Rather than try to password protect the drive, how about creating some encrypted DMG's or TrueCrypt containers on the drive.

Is this format repliable? Would there be an instance a clone may be more reliable as a backup since it maintains the actual file structure of the drive being backed up?
(I have another identical drive to store offsite so please no lectures on having a drive offsite.... Let's please stick to the questions at hand.)
It's no more or less reliable than any other backup solution. Assuming you will always be backing up to a machine with Snow Leopard on it (or being installed on it), "reliability" will depend on the mechanics of the hard drive itself.

What's wrong with the submission system?
For a 180 something KB file, it was taking really long

I hope he still has the receipt from launch day (I guess he paid the $499?)...
I got mine when the priced dropped to $299 and went home and opened it (should've bought two and kept one unopened)...

Holding the ds sideways? That's an interesting idea. I hope it won't be one large screen on both, though. That's crummy with the gap. (ie, sonic ds.) The sonic/mario game sounds interesting. I'm betting Sonic wins the races, and Mario wins the high jumps. :)

I am not sure if all the computing is done in iPhone or if the application is only an UI that still requires back-end computation on the server. Either way, it doesn't make sense.
It sends it to the website and then sends you the answer.
I see a bookmarking button. Safari has a bookmarking button, too...

I downgraded my iPhone 3G back to 3.1.3 before giving it away.i already sold my 3G and upgraded to a 3GS - caught a $250 deal on craigslist.
iPhone 3G running iOS4 was worse than running 3.1.3 on my iPhone 2G.
graph is interesting, even if it's not entirely accurate - there was a stat a few years ago which stated that most people didn't know how to update their iPhone/iPod Touches. i never understood that, i haven't upgraded to 4.0.1 yet, and i'm constantly getting nagged to upgrade by iTunes.
