O.k. yes.. I hope to get me one of these iPhones when they come out. Regardless of any "new" features. I'm just hoping it'll have that smart Apple design/user interface etc. and I'll be able to sync up with my computer easily.
However.. I just don't see how anything Apple comes out with.. if ever.. can EVER LIVE UP TO ALL THIS HYPE!!
I hope it's a killer though.

I was wondering if anyone could help out a panicking female here. I've recently discovered two cracks in the plastic of my Macbook.
The first one is near the hinge. A tiny, hairline crack-

What makes it more worrying is this crack round the other side-
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e101/geezabird/crack2-front.jpg
I purchased my MacBook in September 2010 so it's still under my year warranty and I purchased the three year extended warranty as well (what with the student discount I couldn't really say no). It's the smallest, 13.3" MacBook. I have never dropped it and it's never had any knocks or bumps so the fact that these have appeared is rather worrying.
I was wondering if this is just cosmetic damage or if I should get it looked at. I'm worried the more I open and close my macbook, the bigger the crack by the hinge will get and possibly cause some serious damage. Also will the warranty cover this? To someone who doesn't know, the cracks make it look like I've accidentally dropped my MacBook meaning they're my fault.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hello all,
I am thinking of ordering a Macbook Air as a gift. I want to order a refurb model to save a little bit of money and am looking at the 13 inch base model with 4gb RAM. Obviously this model isn't available all of the time on the refurb store, but I've seen it pop up a few times a week minimum (Canadian store).
My question is this... How long does it take from the time I place an order for it to arrive at my door. From what I've seen, when they show up on the webpage, it usually says ships in 3-5 business days, but how long does it take after that in other people's experiences? I realize I could just order it early to be 100% safe but I don't want to waste time off of the Applecare warranty to just have the computer sit in my closet for a month.
Again, I'm talking the Canadian store which I imagine isn't as speedy for shipping as the U.S. store (but maybe I'm wrong).
Thanks.

Agreed. Google maps does the same thing, but not restricted to restaurants. Just go to your location, then search for something. Food, car repair, whatever. It'll pop up stuff in your area. I guess maybe you want to know about another area then go to that area of the map or enter a zip code with your search, or a city name, etc. NEVER had a need to draw a region. Kind of limiting anyway.
Sketch-a-Search is brilliant, but what would be better is a way to tag why you selected a place or why you didn't go to another.I suspect Yahoo will have to go deeper in value as while there is some value here it can be replicated in minutes by the under-employed programers in Silicon Valley.

I will be heading to eldon square this friday to get an ipad (I hope :D)
Do we just line up and try to get one? or do we have to pre-order in store before hand?
Just line up I think mate!

I really hope this rumor is true. There is most definitely still a place for at least one more refresh of Apple's entry-level consumer laptop. The plastic MacBooks are the ultimate college laptops. They pack a full-size hard drive where the MacBook Air's SSDs would come up short. Moreover, it nails that important sub $1,000 price point. Also, my current laptop is falling apart and would gladly welcome the return of the BlackBook. I could see Apple refreshing the iMac and MacBook lines in tandem in May. *Fingers crossed*

Just the 1, a 17" MBP. We used to have a PC but it kept crashing so we wipe everything off of it and gave it to my sister so she could have something to write her papers on.
I'm hoping to get a MBA this summer.

That's pretty cool news. Fedora's the free one, right? Does this mean we can dual boot with it and OSX?

I think you will love the 13" Air - especially because of the extra pixels. Try one and you will see. I went from a Unibody MB 1280x800 to my 13" MB Air, and the increase in screen real estate (27 %) blew me away. I could finally use spreadsheets on my notebook without feeling cramped.
That's excellent. And how was it reading the smaller texts? Did you have any problem or find yourself leaning in to see everything?

It does indeed fit the 3g. I have a 3g and it fits great. The little plug fits tight. I've had my case for several months now and the plug still fits great. Just as snug and secure as when I first installed it.
Buy one, you won't regret it.

Hello, I just bought an IPad and bought the Apple Component A/V cables. I hooked everything up and it works fine for the movies I have on the Ipad. However, I want to watch streaming TV (MLB.TV) on my television and I don't get a picture. I do get the sound. I've tried different settings for video and none of them change anything. Any suggestions?
thanks

So... your doing a review? If you are what is wrong with more than one review? Also, I didn't advertise anything. Oh, and I thought you ordered the Rebel, not the Torrent.
Si, and I don't mind you doing it. I just don't want this thread getting steered in a different direction just in case it is relevant and useful to someone else.

For ASO, they don't mess with the domain, and after (I think) 60 days you can have it transferred to a different registrar if you want to change web hosts, or you simply don't want ASO to have it. I'm unsure about the policy for other hosting companies.
ASO might make the most sense because they're one of the easiest hosts to work with. No joke: I've had problems that I've labeled as urgent and sent to them through the support system and they've responded within ten minutes. Talk about service.
Anyway, there's plenty of other great hosts out there, and you'll want to look for one with PHP and MySQL, CPanel, and a good ratio between storage and bandwidth.
There's threads about payments, and it really depends on the amount of work they do: graphics, code, backend content system, etc. Hope things start falling into place for you. :)

I had 7 minutes of time from my email to their answer when I asked for help. And it was not urgent.
As for you stu, I might suggest registering your domain thru Domain Site (http://www.domainsite.com/) (very cheap domains), and buying the tiny or small package thru ASO. To get the domain to work with ASO, just make sure that you point the name servers for the domain that you bought to ns1.asmallorange.com and ns2.asmallorange. The name servers part will be the biggest issue if you intend on purchasing your domain and your hosting package from different people.

I've been very pleased with my 15" powerbook... I've had it for 6 months now- and it's been flawless. So much so- that I've convinced 4 of my friends to get Macs :) Unfortunately one of my friends who got an iBook on my suggestion is having big problems all of a sudden. As far as I can tell.. his issues started about the time of the 10.3.8 update.. but I'm not completely sure.
His computer boots up fine, and seems to run fine for a while... but then gets boged down and programs crash left and right... Word crashes... iTunes... Mail...Firefox...etc.. the computer has "rebooted" on it's own several times. Generally not healthy.
I've run the cron jobs... repaired disk permissions... and--cleared the cache with ONYX. I also reran the 10.3.8 upgrade using the 100MB combo download. none of which helped.
I've also tried updating the prebinding in ONYX... but it fails- and gives me this:

I'm the resident computer guy 'round here, but have never had to deal with OSX problems! What else can I do to repair this thing? I'd love to be able to fix this computer problems without a reinstall... that's what I have to do with all the XP machines I work on .. not with OSX! Right? If I boot from the OSX CD can I "repair" the OS instalation? Someone please restore my faith in this wonderful OS!
Thanks-
