Don't fool with a tethered jailbreak EVER... unless you're just testing out stability, apps, or you plan on being in front your laptop 24 hours a day...
that's the only drawback!!
This I am not sure ... Why would somebody needs to be in front of a laptop if JB is tethered? It just means you need to hook back up and JB all over again if you reboot ipad..... Please do correct me if this is my misunderstanding as I have never JB tethered version either.
Having owened ipad 2 for past 16 days or so, I never need to reboot.

The local ABC affiliate is reporting that witnesses saw the bus traveling at very high speed 10 minutes before accident.
Tour busses in Europe carry a 'speed' computer, which used to be a paper disk, much like a seismometer, with squiggly lines to indicate time and speed.
Police can pull a bus over, and inspect this card for infractions. And it works.
In the age of GPS, I'm surprised that this has not been built into all modern busses.

hi i need some advice.Yo're going to get a lot of subjective advice here. You do realize that... right?
i currently own a powermac with these specs:
dp 2.5ghz
...
now i do a lot of video editing and animation. should i sell now, and get the dual dual cores when they come out. hoping they arrive within the next couple weeks? How is performance for you? Are you sitting around waiting for the Mac to do stuff? Or does the stuff that takes a while run while you are doing other things so it's not an issue?
if the new powermacs include ddr2, is that compatible with current ddr found in the powermacs? could i sell my current machine with 1.5g and keep the 3g for the new machine?Your PowerMac uses DDR PC3200 memory. The odds are if Apple goes to DDR2 memory that they will be using a faster memory chip. There's also a chance that if the don't go to DDR2 memory, they could still go to DDR PC4000 for a performance improvement. And DDR memory is probably not compatible with DDR2 and if it is compatible at the same bus speed, you would be restricting your performance.
My advice is not to sell your dual 2.5GHz system until you know you will have a replacement in your hands when you need it. Even if new machines are announced in the next week or so, getting a high end one could take a month depending on how fast people place orders.

Rumor: 2011 MacBooks in 3 to 4 weeks? Black MacBook returns?
Posted on April 3, 2011 by Dave
An unconfirmed source calling themselves digiamac4471 has informed Computing Forever that the white MacBook, last updated on May 18th 2010 will be refreshed within 3 to 4 weeks and will feature new Sandy Bridge Core i3 series processors along with a ThunderBolt I/O port, a lower price point and the return of a Black chassis option. Reports have indicated that supplies of current generation white MacBooks in US Apple Retail stores have become constrained, indicating an imminent refresh of the popular consumer notebook. The black MacBook was discontinued in October of 2008 following the introduction of the then aluminum MacBook, which was later reclassified as a 13.3 inch MacBook Pro. The current white Macbook design was introduced in October of 2009 and features a unibody polycarbonate shell. The Black MacBook is expected to be made from the same material. Our source indicted that Apple wish to reintroduce the black MacBook to maintain uniformity across its consumer devices like the iPad and iPhone, which also offer black and white options, although the White iPhone 4 is not yet available.
The Return of the BlackBook?
At present there is only one stock MacBook configuration offered, which is a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. Two models will now be on offer and preliminary spec details reveal updated Core i3 dual-core CPUs being used for the entry level model with an undisclosed clock speed. The use of Core i3 would be a first for Apple as their recently updated MacBook Pros use both Core i5 and i7 only. The i3 will be offered in the entry level white MacBook at a lower price point of $899. The remaining specs are almost identical to the entry level MacBook Pro: 4GB of RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, Intel HD 3000 GPU, 7-hours of battery life and a HD FaceTime Camera. The second MacBook option will be the black edition featuring the same specs again but offering a Core i5 2.1GHz dual-core CPU. A 500GB hard drive will also be an optional extra for an additional $60. Prices for this model will start from $1099. It appears with this refresh that Apple wishes to further differentiate the consumer MacBook lineup from the Pro series beyond just the obvious outward chassis construction differences. Solid state options continue to be lacking on the MacBooks along with the absence of memory expansion ports and support for more than 4GB of RAM.
Stay Tuned. We will have more on this story as it progresses. Watch the video below where we discuss this story further.
I sure hope this ends up being true :)

Do you know anyone in the world that actually runs dual 30 inchers? I know i don't, sure it is possible but who is actually going too ;) (prove me wrong), that being said the ATi cards i have used have be top notch, you will be happy :)
Well, I run 2x23" in my video edit suite. I could really use 2x30"s, but I'm not paying over $6000 for displays. $2000 on the other hand I can deal with.

I love my Mac, but I can understand why people would look at jumping to a PC laptop right now--Windows 2000 on the laptop work gave me is just as stable as OS X, and if I was in the market for a laptop now, I'd seriously consider a Vaio. Compare the stats and the PowerBook loses every time, even if you ignore MHz completely, and actually believe Apple's rigged Photoshop tests. There's a reason Apple's PowerBook sales are down, only the fanatics are buying at this price-performance ratio. Hell, Sony has a reputation for charging through the nose for style and the Sony brand name, but Apple's even worse.

If you're a gamer, and the question is between a Mac Pro or iMac 24" and a PS3, then I'd say the Mac in a heartbeat.

The site you listed in your profile? I don't think a third grader could make that. Maybe a fourth grader, but definately not a third grader.;)
LOL - I had a friend that half-way built a gorgeous site, but had a sort of life change and ended up not being able to finish it. :o
It was really beautiful with a lof of interactive Flash elements.
Now I actually have to learn something, I guess.

Yes, use Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) at the very least to clean out your system. Make sure to run an update before scanning, and to have Ad-aware run another scan at startup. Spybot will get rid of whatever, if anything, is left.
In the future, if your brother absolutely has to have Kazaa, Kazaa Lite Resurrection (I'm not linking to it, look for it on Google) is an adware-free and spyware-free "hacked" version and includes a few utilities that make Kazaa suck a lot less. But IMO there are enough alternatives to make Kazaa look like an obsolete dinosaur overrun by the likes of the RIAA and MPAA, something to avoid regardless of its ability to screw up your computer.

Yes, it's confusing. Go to App Store, Purchases, Xcode, then click INSTALL. That won't actually install the product, but is going to put "Install Xcode" into your Applications folder. You launch it, and that installs the new version. Thanks for this. I finished downloading the 4.0.2 update from the App Store and launched Xcode and it still claimed to be running version 4.0. Didn't know what was going on there!

I haven't done it recently - but I could never get the vids to play (always used Handbrake) - but maybe the updated PSP OS makes it so you can play anything now (you had to use a special Media Manager software to get it working)?
Will try later this weekend...

I'd assume Tysons will have the longer of the two lines.
Have you given any thought to the Fair Oaks location? Just curious. I have no idea what the line there would be like.
No, I love the Clarendon setting. It's actually a shade farther than Pentagon City, but I don't want to sit in a mall all day. And it looks like no rain tomorrow, but clouds.
The Clarendon location is definitely "my store."

I have a general rule... If I can't figure out what the site is for/about in under 30 seconds, I close the window or go back to where I came from.
I'm not wasting my time on pretty if there is no usability/understandability.

Thanks guys :)
Does anyone know if I'll need to send it off or is it something they can fix in store on the day? My main concern is that I'm revising for my exams at the moment so need my MacBook until the end of May
You could ask them? explain in detail where the cracks are and how big they are as well; if you live close enough to an Apple store I would suggest going to the store and showing them and finding out how long it would take.
However if you're in the middle of school work I would just wait until you're done if it's going to take longer than a few days.

I'm trying to copy my iTunes library to a thumb-drive so that I can play it in my car ( it has a USB plug). My problem is that the car can't play apple
Lossless, which is how I've ripped all the music in iTunes. For one of my iPods, this is very easy, where you can choose to down-res your library during the sync. Is there a way to do this using the export function? Should I just copy the files and move them to the thumb-drive and then down-res them? If I did that, how would I keep iTunes from down-resign my original library. Advice please!
