Alright so I made the mistake of installing lion on my macbook pro and would like to uninstall and restore from my time machine back up. Only trouble is, can I restore from a time machine back up made while was running lion? Or am I going to have to revert back to a point before that? I'll be installing Snow Leopard from an install disc.

Is it possible to add all of the terms (not the definitions, just the name of the work) from the built-in OS X Dictionary into an NSMutableDictionary?
I wish you lots of luck doing this, but there seems to be no useful documentation about it at all. If you figure it out, I would be very grateful if you posted here how to do it.

Did you take this picture? If this is just a general thread for "Pictures from Egypt", you should at least extend the courtesy of identifying and giving credit to the photographer.

I have an old NEC monitor and when I plug in the screen to the 7500 the screen's image is all distorted. I think it is because the monitor doesn't support the 7500's resolution. It's to distorted for me to see where the mouse is going so it would be impossible to change the resolution. Is there a key combination that will change the resolution or at least open the monitors control panel. The 7500 is running system 8. I plugged in a Cetris 650 to the screen and it worked fine. The NEC monitor is VGA so I am using a VGA to Apple converter. Any help would be great. I'll try booting with extentions off, maybe that will do something? Also the Cetris 650 has its own graphics card teh 7500 is just using the one that is on the motherboard. Thanks in advance :-)

Normally if you want to know if something has happened, your c program has to ask, usually in a loop. Can I do this the other way? If, for example a file appears or a usb port is used, can the c program be told without asking. I'm trying to limit use of the computers resources.

Hi! I am going to purchase an iPod Touch 4th Generation in a few days, and I am adamant on protecting it as soon as I get it. I have been looking at a few cases, and have narrowed it down to my two favourites; the Switcheasy Rebel and the Speck Candyshell (both in white).
I have currently heard nothing bad about the Rebel, though I am not 100% keen on the back (but I am growing to like it more). I am also concerned about the bottom, does it become saggy like the iPhone 3G/S version did?
I have heard that the iPhone 4 version of the Candyshell develops an 'eraser' effect where the rubber 'bezel' can peel off. However, I do not know if this happens on the iPod Touch version (the white moonshine one).
If anyone has these cases I would be very grateful if you could provide some feedback as I do not want to spend 20 unless I am sure that it is what I want.
Also, if anyone has any other cases that they recommend more than these two, please can you share your thoughts on them? (Not the Otterbox cases please, I really dislike those!)
Thanks in advance! :)
EDIT: Screen protectors and other accessories do not matter to me, as I already have a Power Support matte screen protector for the 2G iPod that I shall drill a circular hole in for the camera! (hopefully that works!) ;)
From my experience, screen shields won't work. The 2G iPod touch has a slightly wider display, so as a result by using these screen shields on the 4G iPod touch, there will be some excess on the sides. You can try for yourself if you like.

My iPad 1 always seemed to automatically connect to my MyWi network from my iPhone 4, but my iPad 2 does not. I have to go into Settings and manually connect.... Is there a fix for this?

Hi elevenpower,
I just a few hours ago set up my D-Link DI-624+ wireless router. I tried to set it up using my PC but nothing worked. Im new to this networking caper so I dont know what im doing.
However I just tried it on my new PB and everything works great. It just set itself up without me having to do anything. The PB just found the router for me and it worked - just liek that! So im quite impressed with D-link at the moment (i hope it lasts). Not only does it work for my PB but also my PC. So my advice is to set up your router using your mac rather than a PC.
I have read on these boards that Linksys ones seem hard to install.
This very second im connected to the net writing this message while watching The Bill on the television. Ive got 3 bars reception. I get pretty good reception throughout my house - which is a 1920s federation with thick brick walls (some double brick). I stuck the router in my Kitchen between my study (where my PC is) and my bedroom and lounge room - that way I get much greater coverage. No dropouts as yet!
D-link stuff isnt that expensive either. Im also using a wireless PCI card (DWL-G520+) on my PC to connect to the router which works well too. Better reception than the Aiport card in my PB.
One caveat: D-link tech support is crap. They are a bunch of patrionising bastards! Well in Australia they are.
Hope you find a solution.

Since that update I'm getting graphical glitches in WoW, and my mouse cursor sometimes gets very choppy. Only changes I noticed.

No idea, sorry. But perhaps you could try Craigslist "Missed Connections", it seems to be made for this kind of quest. Apologies if you have tried it already.

I was using Terminal but then was in a hurry and had to leave the computer. I logged out and in doing so, it asked me if I wanted to close the Terminal window, which I said yes. Now whenever I get in it won't give me the initial message...
I get absolutely no response whenever I set in a command...
Is there some way to restart Terminal? Or can it be uninstalled and then re-installed?

Do you know where salmonella comes from? Do you think salmonella has enough bioavailable contents on the iPad to reproduce? :D

Pkgbackup has two options for storing the backup info - your local address book or Dropbox. Dropbox has the advantage of being immune to having Apple tweak the data format of the address book entries which can corrupt your backup data.

Mod chip...it still play games, but I'd be to worried I'd screw my Wii up to do it...plus Nintendo will likely release an update to get rid of stop it.
Also Mod Chips are commonly used to "back up game" which I wouldn't do..of course there are other uses like DVD play back, but I don't really need it.

It dates from WW2 origins are murky:
This is the one I will cling to.
[Gone down for a Burton] In the R.A.F. it's the gentle way of saying that an aviator has been killed in operation.
Some poor lad, in a WWI Sopwith Camel, I muse.
Curse you, Red Baron!!!

Nevermind. The solution was as easy as deleting from iTunes (but retaining the files) and then adding them back into iTunes.

First, use a subject line that makes sense. "I don't understand" is too vague to have people help you.
Second, apps don't "fade" over time. Adding other mods to your iPod can affect its stability negatively. In other words, don't add more mods to your iPod than you absolutely need.
