If you got an OS X disk with a particular Mac, it probably won't work on a different Mac. If you bought a "family pack" disk, there are a limited number of installs specified in the license agreement. If you bought a single install disk and used it once then based on the license agreement you are done.
What is different for us Mac users is there is the OS is not DRM laden. You can elect to run roughshod over the license agreement and you won't be faced with typing in strings of 15 digits or sitting for 45 minutes on the phone proving you are not a thief. That's the way things are when you are dealing with Microsoft. If you don't want to contribute to the risk that things could become more like that for us Apple customers, I suggest you read, understand and abide by the license agreement that came with your copy of OS X.

Don't waste your money on some random music recovery program.. I have used Senuti and never had an issue grabbing songs off my iOS devices:
http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
It's free, fast, and did I mention that it is free?
EDIT: It was free when I started using it.. now there is a trail for 1000 songs.. shouldn't have an issue unless you have more than that. If you do, PM me...

Just a quick question, not related to Apple but this is the only tech forum I still really use :p
Friend of mine gave me an AdWords voucher, but it won't work on my account. Did some searching and found out it's because I've already used a promo code and Google don't let you use more than one on the same account.
But the voucher has my friend's name on it, so I was wondering, will it even work on other peoples' accounts? Or will it only work for his? Because if it works for any account, I'll just sell it on.

Hmm, found the GIMP printer application, but it works only for USB printing.
What I need is something that will allow me to print to the printer plugged in to the AirPort if possible.

Is there Mac software that can check that "Every reference in the text has a citation in the bibliography" and "Every citation in the bibliography is referred to in the text;"? I am about to submit a thesis originally written on a PC then switched and revised on a Macbook with Word 2008 for Mac. Hassles with citation software meant that the citations and large bibliography were done manually. Is there software that can check systematically and comprehensively? Many thanks for advice.

hi i need some advice.
i currently own a powermac with these specs:
dp 2.5ghz
160 HDD
4.5g RAM
6800ultra 256mbs
dvd burner 8x
TIGER...etc.
now i do a lot of video editing and animation. should i sell now, and get the dual dual cores when they come out. hoping they arrive within the next couple weeks?
at the moment im using my pc for a project so it won't hurt too much to not have a mac. However, would the cost of getting a new dual dual core(cross fingers), and specing it nicely, be worth it all the trouble? Or is there really no point in upgrading, becuase the dp 2.5 will still hold up?
if the new powermacs include ddr2, is that compatible with current ddr found in the powermacs? could i sell my current machine with 1.5g and keep the 3g for the new machine?
well any advice would be awesome.
thanks

Yeah the value changes. Fortune is a Linux command line application that gives a fortune every time it's run. I want to post this output to twitter and as you may know twitter only takes 140 characters.
So when my script runs if the fortune is less than 140 it will post. If it's greater than 140 I want it to keep running the command till a fortune less than 140 is given then post it.
For the time being I am just echoing the fortune, eventually I will be using the twidge application to post to twitter, which I already have set up and working, I'll just ammed the script once I get the loop sorted.
So you need to actually run fortune inside the loop. The loop would run fortune until it gets an appropriate one. Then after the loop, you output it.

Thanks for the fast reply guys. To answer your questions I did order the Mini with BT and WiFi however I absolutely do not want any wireless devices. The USB ports are not a problem since I have a 4 port hub built into my desk. I don't think i'll really need the two mouse buttons but I really like the scroll wheel for browsing the web. I will consider the MacMice and the Apple KB. Thanks for the suggestions!

The mirror idea was done almost as soon as the iPhone came out in 2007:
Mirror video conferencing on iPhone (http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/13/mirror-based-video-conferencing-developed-for-iphone/)
Pretty clever-looking, actually... at least for desktop use.
....and that thing has never seen daylight

My new 17" powerbook is only getting 2 hours off a full battery charge. Is that normal? Also, I think I read somewhere you're supposed to let the battery drain to 0% once so it can fully charge. However, the computer automatically sleeps when it runs low on power and never actually gets to 0. When I hit the little button on the battery one green light is always on, no matter how low the power. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Is there a tool that can alert me when my app crashes on an end-users iPhone?
(My app occasionally crashes due to unexpected content in the feed it retrieves from the web.)
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 works just the same on 10.6.4 as it did on 10.6.3. I haven't experienced any problems at all.

Contrary to popular (American) belief, US $10,000 isn't that much over here.
It's not even enough for a regular car, and it accounts for around 7 months of some of these miners' salaries, probably around a year for the worst paid ones.
By the way, they are all out now, and the rescuers are coming back to the surface as well.
