Perhaps I'm not being totally fair here, but he strikes me as an example of a species of internet parasite who achieves some measure of success and fame on the back of someone else's work. A more famous (or infamous) example is potty-mouthed moron Julie Powell, whose 15 minutes of fame--achieved on the back of Julia Child's classic cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking--culminated in a major Hollywood movie about her life starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams!
In this case, Merlin has built a successful blogging, writing and speaking career based largely on David Allen's Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology for personal organization and productivity. He jumped in early, starting his 43Folders blog in just two years after Allen published GTD. His focus has been on applying GTD methodology to technology work, and on developing tools to aid in the implementation of GTD. Unlike Julie Powell, whose efforts reportedly earned the disdain of Julia Child, I've seen no signs of animosity between David Allen and Mr. Mann. Perhaps Allen is happy to have the extra evangelization of his approach.

Hello,
I created a file in quartz composer and I put it in a standalone application. I need the user to be able to see the desktop behind it. I tried setting the clear color opacity in IB to 0% however you just see the window behind it. I need the application window to be clear as well as the Quartz Composer so the things happing in the Quartz file appear to be happening over whatever is under the window.
Thanks

FileVault places the contents of your home folder in an encrypted disk image. It cannot have any affect on the ability to erase your drive. Do realize, however, that your data will be gone if you format the drive. I assume you recognize that, but just want to be certain.

They were really funny and effective. I miss them.
PC was a riot with some of his schemes.
What happened? Maybe it's because Macs are selling like crazy on their reputation and word of mouth. Why bother spending millions on TV advertising if you don't have to?
Or maybe it's because much can go wrong when you're poking fun at the competition... even if you're understating their faults and downplaying your strengths, it's going to turn off some people and could potentially backfire.
Hoping for a resurrection of these hilarious commercials at the release (escape?) of Windows 8,

I am interested in the wireless keyboard, would you possibly take a combo of cash (like 20-25US) and some dvds, gamecube games or min stanley cups?
What DVD's, GameCube games do you have? I'll definitely consider it.

I honestly do not think that much of what we saw today was the real iPhone. I am led to believe that everything from the phone calls to the satellite maps was all carefully planned, downloaded, packaged, and arranged as to prevent something from going on. I don't think that one of the calls made in that room today was legit. As such, they did not break the law regarding FCC. Nor is it false advertising, for the product millions of people end up buying will do everything Steve showed today, yet in a much less "science-lab" sense.
Also, the FCC could argue that what Steve did today was not really a test. Once your product is done being tested it has to receive FCC clearance. Or else anybody could go out and make walkie talkies or their own cell phone or other wireless devices.

Description:: It was predicted this Summer that Apple would, sooner or later, offer free engraving for its market-defining iPad (Apple Store) tablet computing device. Well, the day has arrived and now you can personalize every iPad you give, like as the one you give yourself, for Christmas this year. That said, you can add up to two lines and each line can be up to 35 characters long, including spaces, punctuation, etc.

This is a youtube video featuring Yamaha presenter Bert Smorenburg playing the brand new MoX. Here, he displays the possibility of using the synthesizer with a VST plugin played by his mac book while simultaneously playing back a melody from the same computer.
I was wondering which mac book this is in the video. It is all white - could this be the white 13" MacBook? It is a low-specced machine, I can't believe it is capable of providing such a low latency.
Forgive me if my question and observation looks stupid. I've never tried VST on any of my computers. Now that I got an iMac I could try it.

Hello,
Today I am trying to install ubuntu 11.04 in the lastest version of VMWare Fusion. I have installed it, but whenever I boot I get this screen:
http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h386/Blakeasd/Screenshot2011-04-28at110735AM.png
The tools don't install, I even let it sit for an hour. Is there anyway to bypass this installation of VMWare Tools? I tried to Cancel Installation of Tools in the menubar but that didn't work. I really want to try out Ubuntu 11.04.
Please Help,
Thanks

there are plenty of Virus's/ Trojens going around facebook. All of them are like
"dad walks in on daughter"
"see who viewed your profile"
"check out this funny video you are in"
and so on, and so on.
The list goes on and on. The smart thing to do is NOT click these links. No matter what they are and who sent them to you. The thing the virus does is, if you click it, it will then send to everyone in your facebook profile the virus FROM YOU. So they think its coming from you. This has been going on for a very long time but has recently picked up a lot of power from somewhere.
The bottom line is, do not click on the links.. Why would you want to watch "Dad walks in on daughter",

As far as I know (could be wrong) Time Machine backs everything up, therefore all your settings for all programs should be saved.

Is this a sign of the market being over-saturated with independent and small firms that are eager for exit strategies? No, it's a sign of a healthy market with big companies eager to suck up additional properties/talent, and small companies looking to cash in on the opportunity.
In the end, the goal of any small company is to be purchased. No, it's not.
That's the goal of a LOT of small companies, and such a move does indeed have the potential to give good creative people a big wad of cash in exchange for their previous built-up goodwill, which they can either retire happily on or parlay into something new and bigger.
There are, however, also small companies that are quite happy being exactly what they are, and to which the existing fanbase/goodwill/good name/intellectual property is worth more than any sellout agreement to the people running them.
You could argue that such companies aren't really businesses but hobbies or art factories, but from an external perspective they're both "companies" and there's no way to tell the difference until a bid comes in. To some people their company name is their own, and they just aren't willing to sell it.
There's nothing wrong with either model, but it's silly to suggest that one doesn't exist just because it's less common or a "bad" business decision.

Am I the only person who liked the fat nano?
I liked it, I still have it. It's in my car hooked up to an iPod car kit (Harmon Kardon device).

hopefully a few Sn0wBreeze experts will chime in most of us don't use it. My PC os Hackintoshed duel boot. in most cases I prefer to use Mac to jailbreak. I can tell you Sn0wbreeze is not well received. Main reason I'm telling is there might not be the fastest response on this.

What ISO did you shoot this at? With an aperture of 1.4 and the reflected light I think you could've afforded to do ISO400 even, with steady enough hands. Looks like you shot it at 1600+ though.
Are you f ing serious? Trying to tell me what available light was there? This is a bit underexposed and it was shot at 1/80, f/1.4, ISO3200. Come on now. I know my stuff. Don't you think if I could've shot this at 400, I would've?
