Isn't it illegal for you guys to avoid paying sales tax?
Talking about it is legal.

i can do anything with beejive that i can do when i've used whatsapp, but have the advantage that i can also talk to people that don't have smart phones.....
BBM is a gimmick that is dying, look at the fact that RIM are now working on making BBM work on android and iOS... desperation there....
Really? You are always logged in and can't be logged out? Every single one of your contacts using those desktop services are always logged in as well and you can always communicate with them via that method!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!
The beauty of a mobile IM application is that you KNOW you can communicate with someone via that method no matter what. You don't have to check first if they're "logged in" (then if they're not logged in go back and send an SMS instead) b/c you and your contacts are always logged in.
Throw in the fact you can see when the message leaves your phone, gets delivered, when a contact is typing, fast file sharing, group chats, location sharing, broadcast messages etc and it's not even close to the same thing. Sorry.

The iEmulator site admits it's built on top of qemu. What's the big deal here, hm?
From the FAQ:
If that is true, and they abide by the license, then absolutely nothing.
I have no interest in the product, and haven't checked the site out. By the tone of previous comments I got the impression other people felt something shady was going on.

I guess since they caved into the immoral minority that hate porn, they have to do this to make back the money they're losing on the porn apps.

If IBM's presentation at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel the morning of October 15th indicates that Power4 is shipping in quantity soon thereafter, I'll be forced to wait until January. I could see Apple offering a single or dual Power4 Mac at a higher price than the dual 1.25 sooner than 6 months henceforth. Perhaps $3,999. Point being that if it's going to be November (which I do believe) then we might as well wait for Steve's MWSF presentation to see what's next. Not that he's necessarily going to tell us then. But that perhaps he'll tell us then.
The other factor will be some benchmarks on the 1.25 to see how much faster it really is. And the other factor is if it is a 7470 or not. Another factor is lust. Another factor is impatience. Another factor is the developement of OS X.2.2 or 2.3. There are an awful lot of bugs in this 10.2.0 that have scared me off of upgrading. I have a very happy and what I percieve to be fast 10.1.5 running on an "old" 500 MHz/100MHz/1.5 GB/100 GB/GF2 CUBE running SILENT.
So while I would like to boost my capability 5+ times, which I'm sure the dual 1.25 would do, I would also like to wait a little longer and boost my capability 10 times or more which I think the first generation Power4 may do.
I also may not have a clue. But I guarantee you I will be in the room when IBM explains what they're up to with the Power4 Processor the morning of October 15th at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel.
Care to join me?

SEE IT"S JUST LIKE IE! M$ ROOLES. WOOT/L337!
j/k :p
Waiting for that to happen, just like when Apple releases a new security update right after 4,000 new Windows viruses are discovered. Not the same thing people. That being said, I was unhappy with the last version on my PC. Here's hoping the new version is as good as people say it is, and Windows doesn't set IE back to the defaut again somehow.
Now back to using IE on my PC since some sites won't work with alternative browsers because of lousy coding. :sigh:

Hello this is my first post here at Macrumors and after browsing for a couple of days I found that this forum has very useful information to be found here.
Ok so I'm a very big PC guy and I have been into PC's for as long as I can remember. To make a long story short and the problem I am having.
I acquired a Mac Ibook which was working fine in till I decided to reformat it and reinstall the OS. I have all the original Install disks and software disks that came with the laptop. So anyway I installed disk #1 and proceeded to erase and do a clean install. So everything went well but it did not ask for the second disk??? weird. But it said install completed and it rebooted then a folder with a flashing question mark was on my desk top.
What did I do wrong? every time disk 1 is in the drive it keeps on saying it wants to install again nothing else works, why did I do what I did when I know nothing about Mac :( Well all's I would like to do is put it back the way it was. Install the OS and be done. I feel this is going to be a learning experience learning how this type of OS works.
But can anyone please take a little time to put me in the right direction and help me get this going. I will post some pics of what I have and what I did.
Thank you for taken time to read this.
Regards
Mike

This is the info before the reformat.
progress
Then I get this in my desktop after reboot.
Nothing happens when I put any of the disks in only disk #1 then it wants to install again..
Any other information needed I will provide just let me know .
than you in advance.
Mike
And Thank you to who ever made my post nice and neat :)

Seems like a looooooooong time to wait for the top of the line mac
that's two months+ away and by then, tibook may be at 1 ghz and have 64 MB ati video card or ddr ram...or both
...and that may steal high end sales since there must be a lot of pros who are contemplating a tower or a tibook, now that laptops are truly desktop replacements

Is anyone on AIM now that can show me how to make a my SQL database on my server?
My AIM is "Glenn A Wolsey"

wowww, thats a very broad request. have you installed the software yet? what os? the easiest way to administrate a mysql database -- especially for a beginner -- is to download a mysql admin gui...i cant name one for os x, but you could try phpMyAdmin if you're running a web server on the same machine. otherwise check out version tracker.

I'm a bit behind and just now watched the interview, but I do love watching someone so gifted and passionate about his job. I really liked how he stressed over and over that their (Apple's) main goal is make the 'Best product ever'. Really liked the part about Flash being a descending technology and they are more interested in ascending tech. I don't work in tech and do not know the validity of that, but I understand what he means and I for one tend to trust Apple in the future of tech gadgets.

I finally got my iPod Touch 4G from the US yesterday (after being held up for practically a week thanks to the F-Wits at HM Customs and Excise, plus having to go all the way to Liverpool to pick up the parcel that it was part of hours after coming out of hospital due to a seizure the night before!) and it's not a bad device (it's definitely not the be-all and end-all device that certain people here would make it out to be!), but now I want to jailbreak it so I can customise it in my own unique way (Otaku-style, that is!:D) amongst other things...
The iOS on it is currently 4.1 and when I synced it for the first time, it asked me to download a update which I haven't finished downloading due to my slow connection and even though I've installed CFW on my PSP's and softmodded my Wii, this is a whole other level for me.
I take it that if I did install 4.2.2, I wouldn't be able to jailbreak my iPod Touch until a ailbreak for it was available?

Thanks.

Rather than try to password protect the drive, how about creating some encrypted DMG's or TrueCrypt containers on the drive.
+1 - Truecrypt is my favorite here. I have several document containers. If you want to go the password-router way though, what kind of router is it? You should be able to set it up as a protected 'share.'
