I notcied after having it for only a few days that there are two small scratches on the screen of my iPad, I've been extremely careful with it, its either in its case or in my hands so this is rather annoying. Does anyone know of any handy way to repair them?

If this is the case, its stories like these which prove that the media distorts actual truth and make it worse for the actual victim. Even the police who do have more info than the media, BELIEVE the media. Such stupidity. It was completely reasonable to leave the plane if he had a serious injury.
It wasn't that serious of an injury if he was able to drive home and start ****ing. Deploying the slides is to be reserved for dangers to passengers and the aircraft, not as a way for the cabin crew to slam the door on the way out.
Idiots on planes these days will exaggerate anything even remotely related to "security." Assault is likely not accurate in this case seeing as the guy was able to perform quite the dramatic exit.

I deactivated my FB about 6 months ago. You would be amazed at how liberating the process was. I still use foursquare, twitter, beerby so I can still be social. I just found that the constant NEED to adjust my privacy setting cumbersome. Couple that with people I know, KNOW how to get a hold of me. Before I deactivated I put up a wall post letting people know how to get a hold of me. Try it for week, just sayin'

As a general rule you cant really polish scratches out of glass especially if you can feel them with your fingernail (it is a lot of hard work and often causes distortion in the glass) plus I believe the iPad has an olyophobic (spelling) coating that you will rub off if you try to polish it
I would just live with it :)
p.s. I have been in the glass trade for over 13 years

I have my fingers crossed for a quiet, minor refresh come Tuesday. Something like price drops on upgrades, or whatever.

If I use time machine to back all my Snow Leopard files up can I then restore them all into Lion or will this not work? Anybody try it yet?
Previously you could so I don't expect that will change. Depending on whether you are using "Time Capsule" or another WiFi implementation or directly connected, open your "Time Machine" drive and .dmg (if it's WiFi) and then select the drive in "System Preferences". Lion should open it up and update it, which may take a while wirelessly, it's always best to use an ethernet connection when making a first backup or change.

I found some decent prices at the store and I was wondering a few things.
-at what bitrate can they be downloaded at?
-How are download speeds?
That's all for now.
Cheers,
sid

Oh and another word of note, no matter what notebook you get, it is best not to travel in sleep mode inside the case if you are doing any amount of driving or transportation riding. The shaking from the potholes alone can cause wear and tear on the hard drive much quicker than if the machine is shut down and the drive is parked. You have some control though if you have it on your lap while you are travelling.
i'm pretty sure that drives are spinned down & their heads parked when a sleep command is issued...
at least that's the case with my BW/350, so i would expect the portables to behave the same.
plus, modern 2.5" hds are amazingly robust. most can handle operational shocks of some 100 to 200 g/ms
i doubt that travelling with sleeping laptops can cause any harm to the drives.

And even with the hassles of city parking, it will be infinitely better than making the trek out to the Chermside store.
i recommend parking at the convention centre and walking through southbank. cheaper than CBD parking and less hassle!

There's pretty much no chance in hell of Ivy Bridge coming out in September, let alone anything earlier than 2012. The only thing we might see this year is a added spec bump option like the 2.8 GHz Core i7 option (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/20/15-inch-and-17-inch-macbook-pros-receive-2-8-ghz-core-i7-option/) that was added to the 2010 MBP's.
ummm ivy bridge is slated for release in the second half of so barring any delays in development it is pretty feasible that they will be out around september.

If the plan is getting a big group together at West County Apple Store ... I'll see if we can be there. At least she can get the $16 or whatever off for being a student, at the store, I guess.
I don't think you can use the student discount at the store for software, but only for hardware... you might want to call beforehand. I plan on bringing 9 others, so we can buy two family packs and share the licenses (we're all in the same dorm, so it's legal according to the license terms). That makes it $40 per person!
I'll definitely be going to the West County store. The Galleria's only good for quick purchases and only during the morning. In the evening, it seems to be a hangout for those who wish to check their email.
