A lot of their supply chain comes from Japan. And Japan is the third largest economy and makes up 6% of Apple's revenues. With the delay of the iPad their, Japan has taken a small negative hit on Apple's stock. I believe it was down about 330. However it looks like good long-term buying opportunities for Apple's stock, even if it goes down a little more in the next few days/weeks.
Im personally looking to buy into Apple stock and Qualcomm.

Someone told me 5 and 5.5 gen iPod screens won't be compatible with a 6th gen logic board. Is this true?
EDIT: also, I'm bidding on ebay for an iPod. The user says
"You are bidding on a broken 80 gb iPod 6th generation. iPod turns on and plays music but has trouble syncing to iTunes. Buyer pays $4 shipping. No returns as this item is broken! Any questions please ask!"
Sounds like just a harddrive problem right? The logic-board should be working perfectly since it turns on and plays music, it should just be the harddrive that's the issue since it won't sync. Since I'm planning on buying a new harddrive anyway this should work right?

This isn't contracted work. I am approaching companies with examples of what I can do; unfortunately the nature of the illustrations I'm sampling them with mean that unscrupulous types could take it, easily remove any watermarks (it is simple line-work, after all) and use it for their own purposes. I can obviously include a caveat somewhere that I own copyright of the image, but when you're sending examples overseas for manufacturing companies to look at, it's a little difficult to get legitimately signed agreements that it won't be copied and used... unless anyone knows better!!

If your SuperDrive works, get a DVD and burn it. Trust me it's easier.
If not, here's a recent post on the topic. http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12237394&postcount=108

No, its not for me. I get a substantial discount from apple for being a member of a business organization. PLUS, i dont want to have to deal with a rebate :).
Now, back to the topic, APPLE SHIPPING TIMES? ANYONE? :)

May have added Applecare? I know students get a pretty heavy discount on it.
Also waiting for the free iPod deal too.. using it as a little subsidy cause as a student quite a tight budget, going for the base 27, selling the iPod, should be able to net it for ~1600 after tax :)

Have you installed the printer drivers for the 4550N?
The preinstalled hp printer drivers on 10.2 seem to be restricted only to the deskjet models.
I'm not aware how old the 4550N is, does it precede OS X 10.1?

Probably around the same time it ships, 2 weeks.
Seems like everything at the Keynote was "Available in just 2 weeks!"
takes time to roll everything out so they're not overloaded. or underprepared or overordered too many MBA.

Hello. I'm writing a small video app, just for fun and for personal use for iPhone4. Here i'm confuse a lot about the type of codes that i should write into the application so that when i tap on a video it should play the video automaticaly in playback using the inbuild video app on the phone. Many apps out there doing what i'm talking about, apps like online videos, daily motion etc... My videos are going to be in 3gpp format and sometimes avi. Thanks in advance if anyone can provide me with the code to inclupe in the program files that i'm writing.

Yeah, pretty much.
If you get a cheap enclosure for it you can "recycle" by using it as an external drive. Not quite as fun as it would've been to upgrade the G4...

I've never heard of lower resolution causing eye strain. If anything, maybe the resolution is still too high? I prefer the higher resolution of the MacBook Air myself (smaller pictures and text, more content in the same 13" screen), but I have no vision problems. Before you spend money on a different computer, I would consult your eye doctor for suggestions on how to make computer use easier on your eyes, or try these tips from the Mayo Clinic (see the second section, titled Tips for computer work):
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/eyestrain/DS01084/DSECTION=lifestyle%2Dand%2Dhome%2Dremedies
There are plenty of other tips out there, just do a web search for "reducing computer eye strain".

Well in the end its likely that its going to be internal security, print server, user management and hdcp server and backup.
no more then 5 users logged in at once.
SATA should be fine for that few users.
If by that you mean pissing off everybody than yes, Oracle is very good at that. If you mean decent jobs on software...that is highly debatable (OpenOffice.org, Linux, Solaris, OpenSolaris, btrfs, zfs, etc.).
In the case of Oracle VM software for storage (meant to be used with Sun's storage appliances), it works when configured properly (the hard part :p).

I got a fine link to download the video (thanks to the iPad-useragent ):

Thank you. In the age of streaming video, sometimes a download is still king.

I am not excited about this information being stored. However, until there is proof that the data actually gets sent back to Apple, I think Apple gets a temporary pass on this. But they are going to need to prove it in the media.
This is a good and important distinction, that the iPhone is storing the data but not sending it to anyone.
It brings to mind the question of why does the iPhone hold onto the location data for years? If it's not being sent to anyone else, then it means its collecting it for on-device services. I can't think of anything the iPhone does that requires it to know every location you've ever used it in all the time you've owned it. Hell, the only thing I can think of is that Maps might want to know your last known location so that it knows what to show on start up, in the event of crash or something that requires Maps to start cold.

anybody at the Manhasset store yet? I called the store around 6pm and they said they had about 10 people in line.
My plan is to go around 6am. I'm thinking it shouldn't be too bad by then.
Also - they said there would only be one line for both people who have reservations and those who don't. Kinda bummer because it will slow all the reservation people down.

Sketch to search is a great idea. Much better than what i thought when I read the title: you draw something on your iphone and yahoo searches for the item you drew. This is much better.

I got off the phone today with a senior adviser named Emily and her supervisor named Jesse who set up my advanced replacement.
They both said that "Apples refurbs will all start with 5K." "But we also have different sets of numbers like 61 that are not refurbs but are only made for replacements when the 5Ks run out for the day"
Just posting this to tell some people that are always wondering what the 5K means.
