AHHHHHHHHH. DUCK AND COVER! The apple PDA crap is back! Well i guess we can let you off cuz ur a newbie, but u better learn pretty quick that the two words Apple and PDA used in conjunction in the the hardware rumors section is a big no-no. We also cant have the idea spring back up after we had to kill it during the MWNY era.

You know, I actually think the "Freemium" model is a good idea. In lieu of developers not able to provide demos for their product, this is the best idea. I would rather have this, than all the lite apps cluttering up the store
However, I do not like ngmoco. But that's because I think their games suck.

I wonder if this update has made Entourage any more stable. I will be very pleasantly surprised if it does. I know that the likely cause of the problem is that it falls over when asked to display certain images or fonts but one might hope that after 2 years, MS might have gotten to grips with this. Before anyone suggests it, yes I have removed all unsupported fonts. Roll on 2011 and Outlook. I hope they will get sync working more seamlessly including notes, than Entourage does at the moment. Sometimes my contacts update but sometimes they roll back. It is the inconsistent behaviour that gets me.

How is Transmission different from other bittorrent clients like Vuze and uTorrent? I went to the application's official page in order to read about it and I didn't really understand what special features it has.

They should last much longer since they have no moving parts that can break down like a traditional spinning hard drive.
SSDs will slow down quite a bit if there is no TRIM or other garbage collection happening, which you definitely won't have to worry about after Lion comes out. Right now only SSDs that come with Apple computers have garbage collection support out of the box now.

Technically..that disk is only for one license to the software. To directly answer your question about it being 'locked' to one, no it isn't. As long as it isn't one of the gray install disks that you got with your computer, you can use the disk in her Leopard Mac.

Hey gang. Are we planning anything? I've been hearing various claims, such as: "They aren't releasing it until 5 pm"
I just spoke to a rep and he told me to check the Apple Store website the day before.
Hopefully, it will be available when the doors open, which means lining up at 6 am.

If it was dropped it could be a damaged hard drive. Try to see if you can boot the mac from the recovery disks.

Can anybody recommend a decent SuperDrive replacement for my Mac pro 2008?
Just don't want anything buggy like the drive disappearing when the HD sleeps or anything of sorts.

The article could just say "Drop the price" and it'd sell. Make it the same price as the DS Lite with a good sized memory card and I'll get one, or just do away with Memory Pro Stick Duo (or whatever) and use SD cards.
There's just some invisible line, consumers don't like paying more than a certain amount for an item. Handhelds the price seems to be 130+, consoles it's 300+
PSP & SoTN for 100 and I'd be a very happy bunny. I'd even buy Monster Hunter 2 and VCS if they were priced (in VCS case) alongside their PS2 counterparts.
The price thing is probably not credible in the short term, but would clearly be A Very Good Thing. Sony aren't going to let go of the MagicGate DRM for a start.
The biggest hurdle for the PSP I think is the early marketing which emphasised it as an all-round entertainment centre, something which is in theory brilliant until you note the pretty lousy battery life. If it could last 10 hours or more then it'd be an absolute smash hit, or if it could easily take a commonly sized disposable battery.
As it stands, I find that it's a device that a lot of people buy, really like, but for whatever reason don't use as much as they thought. Battery life is one reason of course - that it would crap out less than half way though a mid-Atlantic flight is preposterous, frankly - but another is that it really isn't that portable. It doesn't easily fit in a pocket without clearly making a lump, and it requires two hands at all times, making it difficult to use standing on a bus/train. Furthermore, the screen isn't usable in direct sunlight.
I'd say the PSP is a really good device for use around the house and those who frequently stay away from home with access to powerpoints, but it isn't good for commuters purely because of the screen issue, a key key problem for such a thing. Those, sadly, are the PSP's fatal flaws.
It has so much potential, it really is a powerhouse device that can do so so much - dare I say that it's one of the most impressive devices for its price out there? It's just a few major flaws which let it down so much.
For the record, I own one and find that whenever I use it I love it, but it isn't as often as it should be for a device of this price. Using it as a commuter in on the bus in the summer wasn't credible due to sunlight.

Just hang in there, Apple will eventually update their PB's. Maybe keep checking the refurb section of the apple store for cheaper models? I've heard good things about Apple's refurbs.

Not labels but A5; I think somewhere in that long explanation I mentioned that I'd tried printing in different programs in case it was a Word problem. It happens across all programs.

Am I the only one who didn't like gears of war? I just thought it was incredibly boring. I couldn't stand more than 1/2 an hour playing it.
A movie based on it? The only good game => movie crossover I can think of was the tomb raider movies, and they we're only slightly above average. The mario movie was fun in the stuipest sense, but not good in the least.
I didn't like GeOW either.
Oh, and the Tomb Raider movies were among the better of video game based movies, but they were still pretty mediocre.

Did I read that auction incorrectly or did you score a G3 B&W for $15+shipping? WOW. I think I need to start looking on ebay for this stuff!
Yah I sat there down to the last second not believing that I just won it for $15. So I started to think something was wrong with it, but so far no one on here has noticed anything other then the guy saying it had a PS/2 port

Who will be going to the Manhattan store? and what time? I will be there at 5:00am Who's gonna join me?
I was thinking east bank -- however, I'm willing to venture to "the other side" if I can find the AT&T store with the least traffic/least wait. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

I hope ya still had your iPod up and running.
Even though my new job will be in a bunch of Hospitals, I hate'em.
My wife has a standing order that I am not allowed to die in a hospital, she is to kick everyone in the groin if needed so she can wheel me outside, I don't care if it is a blizzard, hurricane, or smog day, I do not want to die in a hospital!!!!!
Very bizarre though, always a small chance of the worst scenario, katrina pulled that off too.
