Best thing from that store is the "I visited the mothership" shirt..
I was there a few weeks ago. They have discontinued that shirt, they only had kids sizes left. The new shirt says "Designed by Apple in California".

Hi,
Adwords promo vouchers work for any account that is new... Basically, any account that has not yet had any money spent on it :)
I belive the account has to be less than 2 weeks old... But I may be wrong :p
Thanks
Shantelle :o

Just noticed the apple store website is down in Australia - the education one at least. I am ready for a new computer. Probably a laptop - but I will go an imac maybe... then get an old laptop. My 17" MBP is only 2years old and is falling apart. I should take pictures. You wouldn't believe what my battery looks like. (And that is just one problem).
Anyhoo... Im in the market and hoping!

I'm trying to write an Applescript, but I'm not quire sure how to do it. Basically, there's a web page that I want to keep checking on. It's not live yet, and I want to find out when it's up.
The tricky part is that the webpage redirects if it isn't up yet, so I can't simply reload the page. I want the Applescript to go to the webpage, check to see if it got redirected somewhere else, and if so, load it again. So I need to check to see what page it's currently at, and that's what I can't figure out.

Hey everyone,
Can someone with more security expierance tell me more about the (What appears to be a Trojan) virus running thru Facebook? I see several users that have a status update called "Dad walks in on daughter" that takes you to a page prompting you to solve a mathmatecial equasion for legitimecy purposes then spreads itself to your wall.
Anyone know any more? How could this comprmise our phone's data or compromise end user data?
Thanks,
MacMan74

The iPhone only uses 802.11n in the 2.4 GHz range. Is your network set up to use the 2.4 GHz flavor?

Haha yeah. For the iPad they opened at 9AM and I showed up around 8 and was amazed at the line - I think about 50% of it was Canadians showing up to buy it since it wasnt available internationally though. They also flew through those lines - there were at least 100 people in line ahead of me and I was out by 9:15.
The iPhone sale process requires a bit more work, so I imagine lines will be a bit slower, but hey, who knows?
I have a couple friends going with me so I don't mind the hanging out early :-).
ah yes i forgot about those damn Canadians. what time are you planning on going?

I'm going to be there, but I wasn't there for the launch of the iPad so I'm not sure what to expect.

I'm interested. Now as long as I don't blow too much money on Black Friday, maybe I can make a real offer to one of the many G5 offers in the Marketplace!
I look forward to hearing back from you :) Happy shopping Friday

If not watching stuff (e.g. using Plex) at the same time as using it as a desktop it should work, but I'd wait for the next Mac Mini refresh if I were you. Apart from the redesign, the Mac Mini 2010 update was pretty disappointing. In fact even the redesign was disappointing as it made it much harder to replace the stock hard drive (though replacing the RAM is much easier than it was before).
If the 13" MBP recent update going from Core 2 Duo to a Core i5 is anything to go by, the Mac Mini refresh hopefully within the next few months or so should bring a substantial CPU update giving a significant performance boost.

Recently bought a new iPod Shuffle 4G for running. However, I've noticed that every button, except the + volume button, is relatively easy to press in.
It takes a lot of pressure to actually get a faint 'click' to acknowledge that it's been pressed correctly, and because of the size of the unit, I have to use my nail to do this accurately, otherwise I hopelessly hit the play/pause button too. I have very small hands too
Is it possible to take back for an exchange based on such a fault? (I bought it from Argos in the UK btw).
Thanks.

Boot from the install CD and then choose Utilities menu > Startup Disk. Does the hard drive show up in there?
Also, in your original post you mentioned that it didn't ask for CD 2. That's normal; it'll ask for it after successfully booting from the hard drive.
Thank you for the reply I have booted from the install disk and went threw the whole process. The Hard drive has be erased but when it comes time to install the OS I get the Error message telling me to restart computer. I thought it could have been a damage disks but when I first tried this it installed all the way threw but the I got the flashing "?" folder. So I'm going to do the whole process over again and take notes on everything I am doing, also will take pictures of what I am doing as well maybe will be more helpful if I am over looking something.
I know I have a Fossil of a laptop and it worked just fine before I had to mess with it. I just wanted to reformat and start fresh so I would learn how everything works because I'm a big PC person and never had a Mac before. Well I am learning and learned one thing if it's not broke don't mess with it :/ But I will give it another shot in a little while and see what the out come is.
Thank you all for the advice I really appreciate it :)
kind regards
Mike

The aesthetics of the store haven't really changed at all lol. Did you look at the pics? Almost all of the furniture is still the same. It looks like they made the frame of the central cabinet a little thicker to match apple store tables, but the rest? Not much change. It's amazing how a little paint can make such a huge difference. :D

I forgot to add you should uninstall Kazaa first from the control panel. I doubt that will trash all the spyware but my deactivate some of it.
Your best bet, boot into safe mode (instructions above) uninstall Kazaa, restart then download the programs mentioned above.

I've decided to test "My Living Desktop" in the second Lion's preview and, for my surprise, it is running. But when I try to register it says that I can register only as Administrator ( well, I am the administrator...at least I think I am... :) ). The pop up says that I have to log off and log on as administrator...How can I do that?...I mean How can I install a software that says that I can run it only if I am the administrator?...:D
