Anyone else going to the Clarendon Apple Store?
I'm pretty sure I'll be heading there, but I'm also considering going to Tysons Corner. Any guesses on which store will have a shorter line?

Yeah, you save petrol by using your AC, but that's only at higher speeds. At lower speeds, say under 60-70kph, or around 40 mph, it doesn't really matter if you use your AC or just open your windows. Don't bother opening your windows on the highway, though.

I guess the question is what would they get out of it, maybe google but apple gets nothing out of it the information would not be that valuable to apple and the pr is a nightmare. that is not to say that they may not be doing something that of course we know but considering the fanfare around apple products its not like any of this will not be found out after some time.
to me this I think is going to be taken care in the next revision but it is nice to know there are people out there keeping an eye for stuff like this. :)

If I remember right Windows doesn't support mp4 by default. I'm not near my windows machine to try. They most likely need a codec.

you. are. crazy. props to you :) (not being sarcastic)
Please give us updates as time as goes on.
They kindly let me use the bathroom in the store. Got to go behind the big mysterious silver door next to the genius bar. You open it to a room with nothing but 2 flights of stairs which lead up to a long hall way with 2 doors. One door stating employees only with a keypad and deadbolt locking system. The other door said restroom. The restroom very much reminded me of the first room in the game Portal. I'm looking forward to the 55F night sleep coming up. Charging my iPhone in the store while I can. Updating from one of the display iPads.

I've always wanted one too. Would it work as a good web server? I might just make one a home file server.

right, and we all have 20Meg /s net connections with unlimited bandwidth...
pfft
They should offer the option of the HD download, just like for their movie trailers. If you have the bandwidth, download the HD. If you don't, download the SD. I won't be buying til at least DVD quality (unless maybe if I upgrade my ipod between now and then, I'm still using a 3G).

I have several images in a folder, I know how to access the folder, I just need to display these images in an IKImageBrowserView, so I guess a better question would be:
How do I display a folder of images in an IKImageBrowserView?
Thanks
You're really going to want to study the ImageBrowser sample code. It doesn't do exactly what you want, in that you won't be able to just copy'n'paste that code into your's. But it does contain all the code you need.
You will be able to just pass on the paths to IKImageBrowserView and it will load the images for you. You won't have to load the images yourself. But you can't just give an array of strings to IKImageBrowserView.
Your controller will act as the immediate data source and store the NSArray as ivar and/or property. It will respond to the numberOfItemsInImageBrowser: and imageBrowser:itemAtIndex: messages.
But it won't pass on NSString objects directly to IKImageBrowserView. Instead it will wrap the string in a custom class so IKImageBrowserView which implementes the required IKImageBrowserItem protocol. This custom class will tell IKImageBrowserView that it's being given paths to images and not images themselves. See the myImageObject class in the ImageBrowser sample code for how the wrapper class could be implemented.
EDIT: You can't set the dataSource of an IKImageBrowserView to be an NSArray of anything (unless you implement a category as sydde thought of). The data source must at least respond to the required messages of the IKImageBrowserDataSource informal protocol.

... and Calvinatir, you're my new best friend. You have a way with money that takes my breath away. Can you do me a favor and pay off my student loans?

for those who are unaware of keynote bingo, there is a report at the unofficial apple weblog on how to play. it pretty much puts all the rumors possible, and places one rumor on each square and you play bingo with it. here's the link for more: http://www.tuaw.com/2007/01/08/siracusa-takes-keynote-bingo-to-the-next-level/
i'm playing with one card, and two of my squares have .mac relations to them. this is going to be another fun way to watch the keynote.

So I did a refresh install on my mini last night and in reinstalling iTunes, I lost the overall library view I used to have. Under the library menu I have music, movies, tv shows, etc and I know how to turn each of those on and off. But I used to have an overall combined library view. Any idea how I get that back?
thanks in advance.

Being known as a tech who started on Apple IIs, my workshop was visited by a chap clutching a dead IIc.
He explained that it had been running a scientific research program that was custom written and that the research was a 20 year program with only one year to go. The purchase order came from the CSIRO (http://www.csiro.au/).
Another customer came in with 5 Mac II machines filled with several analog to Digital cards. They all had leaking SMD caps. The machines had been rotated into and out of service until they were all dead. These machines were used on a riffle range providing computerized target practice results and yes, this was a government office too. :eek:
Oh, and the Apple II and IIe power supply usually needs the power switch replaced to resolve the loud crack sound (its the switch arcing), and then there's a small 220uF 16v cap in the middle of the PSU which slowly fails which makes the machine blink-blink-blink. Many other causes for this but if you remove all the cards and she powers up it may just be that one. :)

I sorta kinda see what you're after here, but a version with copy (or even your video idea with a narrative) might help make it work. The original Think Different posters were the same way, they all would have seemed merely peculiar if Apple didn't explain the phrase elsewhere.

I have a Macintosh Classic with 2 motherboads both affected by the sima-sima syndrome (vertical lines, no startup). I have read in some sites that clean them in the dishwasher can be the solution, can someone confirm me if this is true or not?
Usually, the issue requires replacing the damaged capacitors as well. What dish washing resolves is cleaning the spilled "capacitor goo". If the capacitors are still bad, you won't fix much.
I'd suggest washing, then replacing *ALL* capacitors on the board.

All you have to do is install it and run, thats literally it. Its the easiest program in the world to use. Just fire up your PS3 from there and find your mac under video on your ps3 and find where you stored your video files on the mac and run them. It takes like 10 seconds.

Anyone else having wifi issues with their iPad 2? I'm really noticing it while using Facebook on safari. It seems the page never fully loads as the bar stays at 50% blue but don't know what else it's trying to load, ads maybe? Also seems some times it won't load at all and have to hit the refresh- sometimes more than once.
I don't think I had any problems anywhere else but I don't use the iPad that much for anything else than FB and forums.

apparently, and i have tested this, the G5 optimized version of firefox must have that pretty button thing compiled into it
the css
.TestButton {
border-left: 1px dotted #575757;
border-width: thick;
background-color: #f47272;
color: #575757 font: 14px Lucida Grande, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}
Also you have <button>'s, not strictly form fields, a form button should be <input type="button">, not sure what difference this would make.
