I went to Fashion Valley for the WiFi iPad. I arrived around 11AM on lunch day, walked in and bought one. I asked the Manager of the Genius group, what their stock was like. He told me they had hundreds available at 11AM. Further he said Fashion Valley is the lead Apple Store in San Diego, and as such receives the largest stock of any new Apple product.
I have purchased from Fashion Valley all 3 iPhone models on their launch day, and in each case they had a very large display.
I'll be at Fashion Valley.

I have 32GB of RAM in my Mac Pro and I got the RAM from Superbiiz, it was a steal compared to OWC and Apple's prices. It looks like they have the RAM for $137 (http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=D3-13R8GH1&title=Hynix-DDR3-1333-8GB-ECC-REG-Original-Server-Memory) per 8GB stick, so that'd be just shy of $1100 plus tax and shipping.
Dang that's cheap! Though I have a fear of Hynix RAM from having many issues with its non-ecc desktop series in the past. Hope they hold up well and won't produce errors. No problems with total RAM detection\compatibility etc. for you ?
I am looking to stick 8GB x 4 of these in my Mac Book 2010 8-core with processor capable of supporting 1333MHz RAM.

If you're talking about the Superdrive (you have cdr/rw-dvdr), I would say it's supposed to make extra noise. The one in my QuickSilver certainly does but I haven't had any errors using it.
You might check the speed at which you're recording the CD-ROMs. If you're exceeding the media speed, or it's inexpensive media, you should try using a slower speed to see if the errors stop.

Is that $60 plus shipping costs? Also, what DVD's do you have to trade? I only have a GameCube now so that would be the only system I could consider game trades......other than Mac games of course.
I would GLADLY take a keyboard and mouse combo for $60.
Otherwise Im just interested in the keyboard.
PM me.
Im sure I have some stuff to trade to. DVDS, Ps2 Games, etc etc.

Maybe the easiest way would be to have a program that creates a shuffled playlist which you could then open in a player. Most playlist formats are plain text and fairly simple.
If your player of choice can accept a playlist as a command-line arg, perhaps you could automatically launch the player and have it start playing the shuffled playlist.

After booting up lion and setting up my mail accounts, I heard a sound that I haven't heard in many many many years. I was literally taken aback when my mac made that sound for the first time in so long, but I am definitely glad it's back.

It's probably the camera. I've got an iSight, while my friend has one of those old Logitech quickcams. The picture from his camera (he's using some piece of software that let's you use USB cams with iChat) is just terrible, even when we're both on our gigabit network at work.
He tried out a different USB 1.1 camera from Creative, and the picture was significantly better. Still nowhere near iSight quality though.
If you think about it, even USB 1.1 speeds should be more than enough - 11mbps is far higher than what most of us have up to the internet. So it comes down to how much money the manufacturer put into the camera itself.

I'm confused.
Malware creators supposedly ignore the Mac platform because it's too small and they go after Windows because it's larger, not because it's less secure. However this malware is targeting Windows based iPad users...that's maybe what 500K right now more or less? And to be clear, it only affects the Windows platform, not the iPad itself (which is OS X based).
So tell us Windows fan boys, why did this happen?

I have a first gen ipod nano that it having some problems. It has worked for a while now, and then yesterday, I plugged it into my computer to charge it, and it worked fine for the rest of the day, but today, I tried to turn it on, and there is no sign of it working or anything. I tried plugging it into my mac, and it does not notice it. Does this mean that the battery is dead? Or does it mean that the screen is mad or something? Thanks for the help.
