no u200 love :(

Yeah, I guess the $125+ each month I pay is not good enough for this service. Come on!! :(

I do like U-Verse a lot, though. Better than any cable in my area and fast internet too. Wish I'd get a break for having 2 iPhones and the U-Verse service...

I just bought a G5 2.7 with an Apple Cinima display 30" and have experienced problems. When working with Photoshop, Quicktime and After Effects it is not unusual for my screen to become garbled with artifacts...huge pixel blocks of repeated menus. Apple replaced my card but after one day, it exhibited the same problem. Today they are shipping the 6800 GT for me to swap. The Apple care specialist says there is an known issue with the 850XT that is being addressed but with no known timetable.

Would this mean that Dell buys Apple if Jobs get in a precarious position?

right, and we all have 20Meg /s net connections with unlimited bandwidth...

The size difference would be minimal. If you can download 1 GB, a few more MB won't kill you.

MBA's also don't have a super drive, backlit keyboard, or ethernet port. I'd go with the MBP. The 13" MBP is still extremely light. For your uses as well, I would not recommend a C2D processor when Sandy Bridge is in the market. If you really still want a MBA, wait until they are refreshed with SB processors.

I think the difference in screen size is really not very much. I confess I completely forgot about the FM radio and that is a nice feature. IMO as a music player, the 4th gen looks attractive to me because the absence of the video camera makes it less expensive. YMMV.

I own a 5G and GF owns the 4G, IMO I think the screen size on the 5G is a significant improvement over the 4th. I can't remember exactly how much I paid for my 5th, but I'm sure it wasn't that much over the 4th..maybe 10/$10 more??

Simply put, the 5th gen nano was/is awesome!

One of the few Apple products where value overweighed price. Apple realised this and created the 6G gen:D Joking (sort of)

What OS X app would be good to benchmark SD cards? I have a couple different Class 10s and I'm curious what their actual speeds are.

You could try Xbench (http://www.xbench.com/)... It's old but it works. Just disable all benchmarks except for Disk Test, and set the volume to your SD card. I just ran it on my iMac i7 with a Transcend 32GB SD Class 6 card and got the following results:

Disk Test 1.51
Sequential 19.91
Uncached Write 17.45 10.71 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 16.48 9.32 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 17.68 5.18 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 37.93 19.06 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random 0.79
Uncached Write 0.21 0.02 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 3.48 1.12 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 671.88 4.76 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 102.40 19.00 MB/sec [256K blocks]

PageMaker?? That must be an OOOOLD book. Get a newer one. CSS works on all platforms, so, that shouldn't matter much. It's just that IE doesn't always interpret CSS properly, and often requires workarounds.

I'm not using it - he's a Microsoft fanboy. All of his editing tutorials are done with Visual Studio.

I got the free upgrade to Office 2008 a few months ago, so I have no need for Office 2004 anymore. It's the Student and Teacher edition with three licenses. I'm selling this for a greatly-reduced price of $75 $25 shipped!

I still find 2004 to be faster than but I'm just going to stick with 2008 myself. I'll just wait for Microsoft to fix all the bugs (if that ever happens).

Anyway, I accept PayPal and will ship in the US to the lower 48 states. If you want me to ship it elsewhere, you pay the extra expenses. PM me if you're interested.

I am managing an Xserve running Mac OS X 10.5 server. Recently, the login window has stopped working correctly.

As shown in the attachment, the "login box" fails to appear. Rebooting the server fixes this temporarily (so far) but after a while the login box disappears again. I am unable to reboot the server frequently as it is hosting live applications (all of which continue to run normally during this error). Also I'm concerned that eventually a reboot will not fix the problem.

I am able to login via SSH with an administrator account and have tried deleting com.apple.windowserver.plist from /Library/Preferences and killing/restarting just the loginwindow and windowserver processes.

I'm at a loss - any suggestions?

Hello I'm new to the forums and to Motion and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make a constant thin sparkly line.

1. Library -> Particle Emitters -> Glitter Sparkles -> Apply
2. Open Layer Panel
3. Delete bottom 2 layers
4. Click on Glitter Sparkles main layer group
5. Go to Inspector tab -> Emitter tab
6. Set Shape to Line
7. Set Start Point X to -(1/2 of the size of your canvas)
8. Set End Point X to 1/2 of the size of your canvas.
9. Change color over time features to suit your color needs
10. Adjust Life parameter to suit your needs.

I've attached a render of what it might look like.

Good freaking riddance to Josh- I hope that they replace him and his Apple fanboyism with someone that is neutral and gives more unbiased reviews. I about **** myself when he gave a non-apple product a 9/10; must have been because he knew he would be leaving soon.

I've just run your CV through my parser and it's extracted the raw text fine. It has broken up the text into individual words rather than flowed properly into whole sentences, this is common though with PDFs. Any device which interprets PDFs will always encounter this problem, some deal with it by intelligently reflowing the text after conversion.

It may be this which is causing some online parsers to reject it?

Can't see anything specifically wrong with the file, all the fonts are embedded properly.

I hear that... If they change the PowerBook, change it to something new, but equally as stunning as the TiBook...which, regardless of popular belief, is STILL the best designed laptop with the iBook a close second.

I need to send some illustration concepts to a company for appraisal. I've watermarked the images, but as they are black and white and not particularly complicated, it has occurred to me that it's quite easy to be able to remove said watermarks in Photoshop. Firstly, what format should I send them across in - EPS, PDF, JPEG etc? Secondly, is there something that can physically be done to the file in order to make it readable, but uneditable in any way, shape or form?

What do you mean by migrating is out?

Connect the old hard drive to the new Mac and use the Migration Assistant to transfer your old user to the new Mac.
