I am looking to replace my POS tripod.
I really am clueless on what makes a good tripod, so please feel free to educate me on what would be a good starting tripod ?
what brands are good, what to brands and models to avoid.
thanks

I find this hilarious considering they've been fighting copyright infringement lawsuits for six years due to Google Books.

I just a few hours ago set up my D-Link DI-624+ wireless router.
...snip...
So im quite impressed with D-link at the moment (i hope it lasts).
inlimbo, best of luck to you and I hope you got a good one...
elevenpower, I personally wouldn't recommend the DI-624. There are a number of very long threads on BroadbandReports about this router and the problems many people have had with it. Many of them have a problem which causes it to constantly reboot. I have one with this problem and it is very annoying.

Be careful. You might get shot :)...remember the shooting at Easton a few weeks ago all started in the Apple Store. Tensions will be high with this new product release :)

A vector file has no property of resolution - the rendering device determines the dpi/ppi of the final output. If the vector file is "rough" looking in Illustrator at high magnification, then it will be rough no matter the output device, but I don't believe that's the issue - you did look at the file after vectorizing and cleaned it up a bit, as MisterMe pointed out, didn't you? Square corners tend to round off, straight lines sometimes have a bow in them, parallel lines aren't parallel, "skinnies" or gaps appear between objects that share a common edge, etc., etc. Look closely!
Live tracing a low resolution image - say <100ppi - will amplify these errors. However, increasing the "path fitting" in the Trace options to more than 1 or 2 pixels should not result in your path following the edge of the pixels exactly and producing "jaggies" in your vector result.
Some clients just like to throw the lingo around (as do print sales people) with no real understanding of the issue or the terms.
BTW, citizenzen, though the terms ppi and dpi have slightly different meanings in different contexts, your definition is askew. The distinction between DPI and PPI is that DPI refers to a single-bit dot, as in a laser imagesetter whereas PPI refers to a multi-bit entity, i.e an RGB pixel is usually 24-bit-per-pixel(dot). Pixels have depth, dots do not. Cameras have PPI, printers, even those printing in multiple colours, have DPI. The two terms are used interchangeably by most people in the industry, and most of us understand what is meant either way. An image has no "inherent" DPI, it is an artificial and arbitrary measure - i.e. it doesn't matter what the DPI actually is, what matters is how many pixels are in the source image. Not looking for an argument here, and I don't know how this point got in, but let's not make the water muddy with spurious definitions.
I too would like to see an illustration of the problem...

Not cool I know, or should I say, even less cool that hanging around outside an Apple store, but is anyone planning on being at Guildford in the early AM?

I would look into utilizing the object tag rather than the embed tag.
what is the code for the object tag?, I have never used that before, but I will use it if it means that that quicktime and question mark don't pop up.

Jeez what is wrong with some people. Anyway if you believe this and are still here on May 22, 2011 please can you do us a favor and go kill yourself. I'm tired of seeing people like this everywhere now.
Also there world is not going to end because some people on shrooms created a calendar that only goes up to the year 2012.

Hi
I've formatted my text using the css editor to helvetica and increased the font size
It appears ok in the golive editting window and safari but not when previewed or opened in Opera (i understand the preview is based on opera) it reverts to a smaller Times font
I'm using Golive CS2 in Tiger 10.4.2
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks
David

Ok, so is there any way for me to generate one of those album art collages that appear for all of the iMixes at the Music Store on my local machine? The iTunes website appears to suggest that it's a doable thing, but I can't for the life of me find the command to make any of the new print features in iTunes 4.5 work. Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again!

My advice would be not to go for a bargain bin starter pack but instead scour eBay for a Gordon Smith GS1 (or GS2 if you're lucky.) These hand made British built guitars are absolutely fantastic and it will last you till your dying day. Both physically and professionally. I've sometimes seen them go for 225/250. As for amps why not get another British gem ... an H&H combo? I followed one last week that went for 26 but the shipping was prohibitive for me. They are superb amps. Very popular with the new wave scene like Bauhaus, Buzzcocks but also used by Pink Floyd & Mark Bolan. Sadly though they're a nuisance to search for with all the combinations possible. Might push your bill up to 300 but you'll be so pleased you did.

OSX shields you from getting into some of the nuts and bolts of things. This can be good or bad depending on whether you like to delve into such stuff.
I disagree with this. I delve plenty in to OS X. I know exactly what the OP is talking about, but believe me, it's not just him.
Microsoft has taken a liking to randomly re-arranging their GUI for no reason and in horribly illogical ways. I still use XP and Office 2003 at work, and find myself often frustrated when supporting a user on Windows 7 and Office 2010 (or worse, Vista), because the changes are so arbitrary.

I would love that. I have the original BlackBook right now and love it, the design and color scheme (obviously) is what does it for me. Of course that and Mac OS X :)
But yea, having a higher spec'ed Macbook would be great.

If you're familiar with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original, not the tragic Johnny Depp version), this is genius.
I hope at least one other person enjoys this. (http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1948362&sa=U&ei=f8JvTZyCFcT7lwfn78Q7&ved=0CAQQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNF_zVskkyRr0motheKgeHFHd8vtPA)

Does she like Kate Spade stuff? They have a few different cases, both hard shell and rubber that my wife has been switching between lately.
