i had a dream, that the next generation apple prosumer machine, whould still have the "el capitan" case, but the case would be shiny!!
i would have a mercury (quicksilver) "color" or finish.
it would be semi-see-thru.
if i were good in creating stuff in photoshop, i would try to recreate my "dream" machine.
maybe someone out there would want to give it a shot. and recreate it.

Why does the BB software require rebooting the darn thing? I tried installing without rebooting but it won't work. Can't say i didn't see this coming. I won't be rebooting until the next OS X update, guess my BB can wait till then.

2. Still using my original iPhone. A clear plastic shell, and the original Otterbox. I needed nothing else.

I found this at my gran's place the other day- she still uses it for basic typing (on claris works) etc connected up to a printer. I was pretty impressed it was still working.

Is anyone else having problem after sleep mode in Windows 7? I have Windows 7 Ultimate running in bootcamp. Everything is fine but whenever I have my macbook air in sleep mode, it takes at least 5 minutes for it to start. Sometimes, the trackpad doesn't even work. I wonder if this is a bug or something. It only happens if I put my macbook air in sleep mode for more than 12 hours.. It's weird..

couple questions....
1. do firewire 800 drives see much of a speed increase in transfer speed? i know i've heard that because of the limited speed of the HD itself, it can't really saturate even fw400.... just curious if anyone has experience and can inform.
2. what's a good place to get such a drive (external of course)... i am just kinda looking into how much more they are than the usual drive... and haven't even had much luck finding many options.
thanks

Ok...new thought...
SSD for boot drive.
RAID0 for scratch disk.
Regular HDD for storage.
RAID0 vs SSD for scratch disk...I'm reading that SSD isn't all that great for scratch disks because the write speed isn't all that great and sometimes actually slower than a traditional disk, especially with small file changes. Plus, a 128GB SSd is around $250 whereas i already have a couple SATA drives I could use for RAID0.
So, are there any down sides to using RAID0 strictly as a scratch drive?

For a computer based method (using Endnote for instance) I would make a dummy document with all the citations and then use your bibliography text to make the reference list and compare, otherwise (and that used by most proof readers) manually tick them off one by one.

Remember the big blackout a couple years ago, when much of the Northeastern US was without power?
I remember it well. It took me 2 hours to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, and then another 5 hours elapsed as I waited in a sea of people in complete darkness for the bus ride home. The usual price gougers emerged and started hawking small bottles of water for $4 each. Yikes!

Do you mean like science in general or computers in science. I'd be interested in the former.

I'm interested. Not idea what it's worth. How much do you want shipped to 11590?
How's $20?

So im quite impressed with D-link at the moment (i hope it lasts). It probably won't. D-Links have setup issues. What I mean to say is, their control panel looks like it was designed by a bunch of blind chimpanzees - once you start setting up WPA/WEP (which is necessary), upgrading firmware, etc. you'll find out.
I'm quite impressed you managed to get through to tech support, though, I gave up after waiting 30 minutes. Twice.
Having said that, my G604T is alright, in that it was the cheapest solution out there, and I've finally found the sweet spot for settings. I think I had about 2 months uptime before it crashed last.

My 4th gen white "classic" is still going strong too. I hope they never do away with the design-- it's so iconic.
Mine is too :D
Although the only problem I've had with it is when I hook it up to my car's Harman/Kardon... when I disconnect it, it stays in the "Okay to Disconnect" screen and I have to reboot the iPod. :-/

Sorry for confusing, but youve made a quite nice photoshop comparison video
The one you made here:

But with new iMac vs Macbook something :p .. Im really looking forward for your test mate .. :)
If only you had the iMac with 2Gb DDR5 VRAM, that would be the maximum potential we can get .. but its cool, im afraid the gaming maybe suck a bit on native resolution with 1Gb VRAM, but well see

It's the sticker companies, I tell ya.
They started innocently enough with travel badges for steamer trunks. Yet even then it was a sleazy business. Anyone could pretend they'd been to to Egypt just by illegally obtaining such a sticker down by the docks.
When the automobile came along, sticker companies lobbied for mandatory bumpers upon which to stick their wares. Yes, it's true!
Nowadays they've taken over the minds of our children, giving away free stickers just to get them hooked on spending their allowance on Princess and Bakugan versions.
So it's no surprise, none at all, that stickers show up on everyday purchases. The only possible reason why Apple doesn't have any, is because Jobs pays them off under the table. And people think Apple's money is stuck in overseas accounts. Yeah, sure.

I already have several 1TB disks, of which I will use one and I have one 2TB external I can use. That means I need to buy:
Two SSD drives
One 2TB internal HDD
One 3TB internal HDD
One 3TB external HDD
I'm thinking that will all cost more than $400 but I can go over a couple hundred if needed.
You should be able to manage this then if you don't go crazy on the SSD used for the boot disk (say 80GB max, and I suspect the OWC 60GB would be of sufficient capacity as a boot disk, which is ~$139USD). Neither this or the 40GB versions are 6.0Gb/s, but they're fast, and quite good for random access. And more importantly, would allow you to stay within your actual budget. ;)

Now that Apple has the double your RAM for $40 deal, do you revise your predictions on an update this or next month? I hope not.... but I'm so indecisive about when to buy.

So Now we are back at home and will wait til the Mall Opens then head back. To check out the Scence
I am soooooo very sorry. Everyone here has been great. Finally met the manager.

Apple products don't have to convince their owners that the product is great.
