Yes, it's confusing. Go to App Store, Purchases, Xcode, then click INSTALL. That won't actually install the product, but is going to put "Install Xcode" into your Applications folder. You launch it, and that installs the new version. Don't pay the $5 one more time.
Ok, I got the update prompt and DLed it. Now, should I uninstall the previous version first, or just install the new one right away?
This update process is clumsy and, as some people have already said, not Apple-y at all. Here's hoping things'll change with Lion.

I can find a good web person or two to do the work for me, incase they are end up being friends willing to do it cheap, how much would the work normally cost (avg type work) so I can pay them what they deserve?
Difficult question to answer, as it depends on several factors: their level and area of expertise, the area you live in, and how complicated the site is.
I've seen trends going towards "packages" for initial setup of a site then a maintenance fee afterwards, and some people still stick with a flat rate per hour. Personally, most of the time I charge $30/hour, but that's the same rate I've been charging since 1998, and even then it was about half the going rate in that area. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you what the going rate is now (it could have crashed with the dotcom bubble burst, for all I know)... People still seem to be willing to pay the $30/hr though.

What was wrong with the 30D processing? I never experienced any problems when dealing with RAW photos. I've since moved on to the 7D and only keep the 30D around as a backup. Still, I'm curious.
It tinted the images green when re-processed or imported under the new RAW 3. So happy to have this fixed!

Switcheasy has beautiful cases. The design is wonderful.
But for $14 + $5 (shipping), it isn't that wonderful. $14 for some rubber/plastic?
...and
# Two anti-static Screen Guards
# One Microfiber Wipe
# One Squeegee for your Screen Guard application
# Two Power Jack Connector Protectors
# Two Headphone Jack Protectors
People don't seem to have a problem paying 24.99 for the lame Belkin cases...and these come with much more, and from a much better company with way better customer service. I'll support switcheasy any day of the week.

The current MacBook I have is the 2008 unibody. It was the initial launch unit for the switch to the aluminum casing.
But I see your point. And as I previously said, the iPad isn't a replacement, but more of merely an interim solution, and a chance to purchase something I was in the market for to begin with.
I would really appreciate some input on how to go about doing this. Believe me, I hate wasting money just as much as the next person, so I appreciate the concern. But I feel confident with my decision thus far, and hope to remain so.
So if anyone has any advice for how to do this transition best, it would be much appreciated.
Well then if you aren't going to be doing anything that you need a computer specifically for, go ahead and sell the MacBook; only if you know for certain that you'll be able to get another, better computer down the road within a limited amount of time.

I hope they fixed this tinting problem on more than just the 3 cameras listed-- I've been having the problem with my D80 and Aperture 3 is dead to me until this is fixed.
Why couldn't the camera-specific details live on a central website that the software drivers could pick up "live" when needed, and cache for later, so we wouldn't keep having to pick up these updates to keep up?
That's kind of what's happening, no? In this case, the driver is picking up the details through Software Update hitting the Apple config website.

I have a Netgear WGR614 v4 in the center of the house. With the Dell laptop (P4M, Dell 1300 Wireless), I can get about 15 feet away. With the PB, I can get about 50 feet. With the iBook... about 120 feet. Although, when I'm that far with the iBook I need to be careful not to move around much because the signal drops drastically when walking about at that range.
But I would really recommend an Airport Express. And in fact, in a couple of minutes, I am ordering one. I'll use it when I'm at school and not around the WGR614 (and for now as an Airtunes station). The Airtunes benefit and the compactness of the AExpress is fantastic and the range is on an equal level to my Netgear (I've done the same testing for signal strength with the AExpress but it was in a different setting so the conditions wouldn't correspond well).
