IMO, it might be worth it to add a line to state that when in debate, it is advisable to clearly separate what is your statement based on facts/sources and what is just your own opinion. Not in every thread of course but when the threads is clearly a debate thread where facts and opinions may easily be mixed without proper notation.
I'm fairly certain that one will sort itself out quickly. In addition to it being made clearer in the newly-honed rules, a member who posts something that can be interpreted as a claim of fact will likely be challenged. They will then have to say whether it was simply their opinion, or back it up with something.
It's also possible to debate the reliability of sources, but at least then people are debating something concrete, and again it will have to come down to "I don't feel that source is trustworthy" (opinion), or "here's a study that refutes that claim" (debating the source's reliability on the basis of another source).
The whole point is to make the rules clearer, both for those debating and for those moderating. The problem up to now has been how to moderate problems we can see, but for which the framework as stated wasn't clear enough for us.

Didn't know where to post this, but thought someone might have the answer here.
I have three word documents that I would like to combine into one. Two of them were previously converted PDF files.
I open up the original word file, and then click "Insert, file". When i click on the file I (a word doc), it imports it and stuff is everywhere, formatting is hosed, etc. If I open up the second file on its own, it shows correctly.
I am using word for mac 2011. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

After more research, just had to download and install a new app; that fixed the problem. Somehow, that restores the password to the other apps.

Just a side note that I had the exact same problem with my iPhone and brought it to the Apple store here and they swapped it out for a new one. I am sure you can do the same all iPhones are still under warranty. You may have already done this but i wanted to let you know.
been there done that...2 stores said there was "too much damage around the button" to repair it under warranty..they wanted $250.

Basically...it seems like Apple has to change the PB case or wait...but then again, I don't know everything that is available...or will be available. Maybe Apple has something up their sleeve. I don't even need a SuperDrive. I'd rather have more VRAM and a faster processor.

I am multi camming and when I am trying to drag between the two clips to edit the cam cuts, it speeds and slow.
Can someone help? I need to knock this edit out immediately. I think I'ver rendered to many times and would only be able to fix this by re multi camming, right?

Apparently using iPads and such at Apple stores carries a high risk of being infected with some sort of virus.
I guess it kind of makes sense, maybe they should clean them daily?
I refuse to touch anything in the apple store. I never pick up any demo units, people are disgusting and don't wash there hands.

Before I start: This is not a complaint thread. I'm just wondering about other forum members.
Is anybody else having difficulty trying to use Lion frequently? I've kept up to date with the latest update but am I the only one who just switches back to SL because of bugs and hangs. I love the new features and know that there's going to be many bugs but is anybody else experiencing stuff that is annoying them so much they switch back to Snow Leopard next time they boot?
Nope, I'm using Lion full time. There are no show stoppers for me, just bugs every now and then.

I've noticed that the lines at the Detroit area Apple retailers are very small compared to the rest of the country. I guess Detroiter's have different priorities than the rest of the country. This is a good thing IMO, we still love our idevice.

I have a real problem with eye strain. One tip is to set a minimum font size in safari so you will not have to pinch out so often. Remember, The higher the resolution, the small the same font size will be.

Microsoft yesterday released a set of updates for users of its Office for Mac productivity suite, bringing security (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms10-038.mspx) and performance fixes to Office 2008 and as well as a pair of ancillary updates.
Note the number of security fixes listed in the originals. Security is why Microsoft should finish its 64-bit Cocoa version, and why apps that you run that process data from [other computers/off the internet] need to be robust [security-wise]. This has nothing to do with running million-cell spreadsheets.

Or, in my case, stop people posting for fear of having their posts removed. The whole idea of a debate is having an opinion; not necessarily having to substantiate it.
Agreed. Especially when dealing with religious and political debates.
This is exactly why I block Politics, Religion, Social Issues forums. I don't come here to get into arguments, especially ones that no one can win.

I had an early 2010 week 23 iphone 4, and it had a ton of death grip signal issues. I had to get it replaced because the power button was loose and got a new 2011 week 11 (early march) iPhone 4. I notice that the death grip still occurs, but is much less of an issue. I consistently have a stronger signal than before.
Anybody else notice this?

What do you mean by migrating is out?
Connect the old hard drive to the new Mac and use the Migration Assistant to transfer your old user to the new Mac.

ETA, thats great. How exactly do you have it setup?
IMO Using the aggregate soundcard function is not a permanent solution.
Its much better to have the all the audio coming in/out of one device.
You will get much greater sound quality, reliability and less latency using one device.
This will be very important if you want to/end up djing outside your own home.

^^ I do realise 150+ is alot to spend initially but in the long run you will see the benefits outweigh the cost.
The phrase "buy cheap buy twice" is worth thinking about.
Couldn't agree more. Yes this setup is very much temporary to see if DJ'ing is for me then I can slowly expand my gear (first step decent multi channel soundcard hha)
Set up is very dodgy...Speakers to Cheapy USB soundcard to USB expander to mac, headphones to mac, and their USB power supply to USB port expander (along with the USB for deck, lol)
