Ah, it may be a 20% increase in clock speed, but there are a number of factors that will make a difference.
First: remember that not everyone is going to be upgrading from the current top-end model to the next one (and in fact, that would be a pretty silly thing to do unless you could sell your Powerbook at near the original price). If you've got anything less than one of the current models, you're going to probably see a considerably larger boost - and not just due to clock speed, but cache, video hardware, system bus speeds and memory speeds.
Besides, we don't know exactly what the upgrade will entail. If it has more L2 or L3 cache or faster video (or even just more video memory), it may feel more than just a bit faster, especially in certain applications.

That is a lot of money.
I would feel guilty if I did not call Paypal to inform them of the error.

try ripping it as one whole track, unless you realllly need it to be in separate tracks.

I love my new eMac. Definitely maximize your memory to one gigabyte and you will be surprised how well it performs.
Also, you should use your student discount and get a free iPod Mini like I did. Does anybody know if you can you still do that? You should ask about that when you purchase. I purchased both my new eMac and my new iBook at the Apple Retail Store where I live and it was a wonderful experience. Everybody was very helpful and they told me about the free iPod Mini deal.
I'm a very happy owner of a new eMac, new iBook and FREE iPod Mini.

You're not counting the total number of comparisons made to sort your address book, you're counting the number of times each address card is asked to compare itself to another address card.
So what you're see is that each card is asked to comparison itself once with another card. This is the 1's. Except at the end, the address card for Hania Zet

I'm using windows through bootcamp and I installed Microsoft Security Essentials as my Anti Virus software.
I would like to know how is it possible for me to scan a specific file? Not the whole disk.
Thank you
NVM... I found how to scan a specific folder. I guess that will do.
When you have an anti-virus, you can right click and "Scan with......." will be a right-click option.
On Windows 7 it is anyways.

It lets you run an external display at higher resolutions (easily making it up to a 17 inch monitor's 1280x1024 or whatever it is).
My 12" (32MB VRAM) has no difficulty spanning onto a 1600x1200/24 display, for reference.
And finally it voids your warrantee.
This isn't entirely accurate. Apple has stated that, if they find the hack in place during repairs, they reserve the right to refuse you warranty service.
However, like any firmware hack, it's easily undone. If you use the Applescript to install it, you can use the uninstall button; otherwise, it's a simple nvram-reset away.
In practice, several people here have successfully gotten warranty service despite the presence of the hack.

Hi everyone,
Just in case anyone happens to have the same problem I'm having, I want to update this thread with my solution.
I've decided to just get a hardware in-line volume control such as this one (http://www.dealextreme.com/p/53960?r.88888888) from DealExtreme.
It's quick, inexpensive, and I don't have to mess with the meta-data in all of my files.

They can't produce complete and useful sentences in the iPhone forums either yet those still exist.
This is an Apple site, not a science site. There is a justification for having iPhone forums on an Apple site. There isn't a good justification for having a Science forum on an Apple site. At least, nobody's put forth a good one yet.
The majority of people here are geeks, and geeks like science.
Just because someone is interested in gadgets does not mean they're interested in any of the science behind it.
Any science discussion will probably just get hijacked and sent off to the Wastela...err, PRSI in the first place. I'll start; let's talk about the science behind global warming.

So, the sight of the video in question, from a lobbying organisation with links to Jack Abramoff and that represents Exxon-Mobil amongst others, decrying government spending is nothing but empty but loud crap of the highest order. What they want is for government to spend money on them. Screw those who have lost their livelihoods, their jobs, their homes in the biggest recession in any of our lifetimes, let those suckers pay the bill. In fact, screw you, take a pay cut, be fearful of losing your job with all your benefits. We'll also press to weaken child labour laws so you're competing with kids...
Living standards have remained stagnant over the past decades, papered over by a housing bubble and cheap goods made in China while your healthcare costs have been going through the roof. But time and time again, you put the same oafs in who wrap themselves in the flag and carry a cross.
Jesus wept.
I think even this is probably too long to use as my sig. :(
But I would use the whole post if I could. ;)

hi there,
i have been using my ipad to download pictures from my camera (canon eos 300d). unfortunately this doesn't work since some update, and also the cardreader now says it uses too much electricity... now i'm hoping i can fix this by jailbraking my ipad? can i get my hopes up?
can one point me out to a site / tutorial e.g. to do this? since my plane is leaving tomorrow morning (now its 7 pm here ;)) i am in quite a rush and don't want to carry my laptop with me...
thanks a lot.
dave

PageMaker?? That must be an OOOOLD book. Get a newer one. CSS works on all platforms, so, that shouldn't matter much. It's just that IE doesn't always interpret CSS properly, and often requires workarounds.
2005 Edition
I'm not using it - he's a Microsoft fanboy. All of his editing tutorials are done with Visual Studio.

Hello!
Does anybody know a good program to reverse scrolling on Windows 7 (x64)? I am so used to the "reversed scrolling" that I will always try to scroll backwards in Windows. This is soo confusing especially since Windows often doesn't use smooth scrolling...
Hopefully Apple will update Bootcamp with that functionality when Lion comes out but until then it would be nice to have something else...
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like these things ship pretty quickly.
I understand the plain white box. It's a gift for my fiance and I am sure she'll be fine with that (especially once she realizes the savings just for a box :D )
Just fyi my refurb iMac shipped/delivered in about the same time so... estimate one week for shipping? Two to be on the safe side? :)

Hi there,
I am super non-technical so hopefully I'll be able to convey the issue but basically...
I just got a new iMac OS X Snow Leopard. I use Logic Express to do my recording but in order for me to use the Mbox2 for recording, I had to install Protools (which I have only have 7LE). During installation, afew different windows popped up saying that certain "DigiDesign" systems were installed improperly. I tried uninstalling Protools & reinstalling but the same thing happened every time.
Just wanna use Logic to record but can't do much til I figure this out. Should I just get a new/different box? New Protools? Is there any way to use what I have & make it work?
Thanks very much for any suggestions/help.

Possibly. I wouldn't count on it though, as it most likely won't be effective until they announce when Lion is actually coming out. Plus, Lion will be more than $30, so that might be a little less likely.

Is there a simple shortcut or macro in Apple Mail to simplify the HTML tag for linking to a different web page? In other words, instead of clicking on:
http://www.macrumors.com
...I could hide it under "Click HERE" and the HERE would underline and light-up when you hovered over it? If there's not, that would be a good thing to add to Mail in the future.
(Sorry, but I'm just learning HTML...)

I know the PS3 is backward compatible with PS2 games. The game I wanted to get was God of War 2 because it looks pretty cool and the PS3 lineup is fairly slim at the moment. I see that Sony makes a memory card adaptor for the PS3. I never have played this game on a PS2. Will I need the memory card adaptor at all or will it just save the game to my HDD? Also is the PS3 compatible with all games specifically God of War 2? Thanks in advance or any help.
