So I jailbreak my 3G touch with greenpois0n RC4 (running 4.1).
Cydia breaks on me about a thousand times (hyperbole, but it sure felt like 1000 times...), and my apps stuff up mid-operation, making me have to put my iPod into DFU mode and back again everytime.
I restore it (then downgrade), and jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8... so far, there's been no trouble.
Does that mean that newer versions of jailbreaking apps provide you with a different version of Cydia, or does the efficiency of the app fade over time? (The first time I used greenpois0n on my 4G touch, there were no ill-effects).

Hey all, new to the forums, but no stranger to macs (Long time Logic Pro user at college/uni)
I recently ordered an iMac 20" (isight), and got the shipment notification the other day, and on the 14th Dec, it was in Cork...
Anyone in the UK have a mac that got sent via Cork? How long did it take? Also, anyone know how I can track stuff with Flextronics/Express Cargo? The apple tracking isn't showing any locations etc for the packages sent with them... :(
Any responses much appreciated
Ben

I'm not able to find a definitive source on this is it true that the Apple Standard Keyboard M0116, as offered as an alternative to the Apple Extended Keyboard circa 1990, uses the same keyswitches, providing exactly the same tactile feedback?
I'm a Model M fan myself, but can't justify the noise in my open plan office. I have an M0116 which I very much like and will use if I can obtain an ADB to USB adapter that works on modern Macs (so, I guess, makes the keyboard look like a USB device rather than adding an ADB port to the computer) but have never tried an Extended Keyboard and am wondering if it's worth seeking one out.

Hi,
I have been noticing considerable lag on my 2010 15" MBP (4GB ram) whilst using Photoshop Cs5.
I heard from my friend that if I were to use an external drive as a scratch disk, it would help.
I was wondering if this is true, and if so, what are the recommended external HDD?
Why not just get more RAM? Its getting cheaper and cheaper you could probably find it for around $80.... And that will be better than a scratch disk.

I am trying to understand what Flash Cookies are ?
I know what normal cookies do, but Flash cookies are a little different....
I have heard that Flash Cookies cannot be deleted or are very hard to delete ?
Can anyone explain what Flash cookies are and can do ?!
Thanks!

For the first minute or so when I wake up my 2007 MacBook, it becomes really laggy. I have iStat installed and it usually shows the CPU and memory usage as being very low, but sometimes it jumps up. Either way, for a minute or so the computer's pretty much unusable.
Just now I took it out from sleep mode and the CPU usage did go high and general performance was very slow again.
The apps I usually have open are Firefox and Chrome. The OS is Snow Leopard with all the updates installed. I've tried repairing permissions and rebooting but no help.

That is funny. But, just like those funniest home videos, you have to wonder if they are real or staged.

Give it to someone who can't afford a gaming system.
I know people I could give it to, but surely they would have no use for it either. Without a working CD drive they won't be able to play games on it!

Hello,
This is mainly towards the staff at MacRumors, probably more at arn.
Does MacRumors have any immediate or far plans to move to the newer (a bit chaotic) vBulletin 4 platform, given that 3.x and 3.8.x are on their last legs? If not, what does MacRumors plan on doing? XenForo might be able to help.
PS, keep up the awesome management of servers and systems. I really appreciate it, given myself being a service provider in the field.

The "In Time-Out" title was never intended to be a warning to other users.
It works as a great warning though. At least I've noticed where the line goes (of course every mod may have a different policy on this but generally) when you get timed-out by following some heated arguments.
I don't see the gossips as an issue. If someone asks, you can provide him the link to Forum Rules and tell that it's very likely that the guy who got timed-out broke the rules.

You're right! I went to search some older threads for the exact mention of this codename, because I remember when a guy camed here telling the specs of the New PowerMac that was coming, he mentioned that the QuickSilver was P57 and that this one was P58 ( His Nick Was APPLEP58!) He had a Pdf describing everything and he was going to tell more, he even said that the new case was the same color of the QuickSilver( When the Photo that was leaked showed the case White, and that was due to the flash of the camera QUOTE APPLEP58 : "By the way it's not white it's the same silver color G4s are now, teh image is distorted (stretched, but you knew that) the sides, top, and handles are indistinguishable from P57 (QuickSilver); just A COMPLETE change of the internal design, and front and back panel are different."
), until he was flamed by someone who just didn't believe that Apple would release that, and that the case that appeared on the Photo that was leaked was White... Oh well, one good source that was flamed by stupidity.
Back to the topic! Well if he mentioned that this "New PowerMac" was the P58, and we all saw that weeks later it really was, to me it just brings something in my logic... Since this new PDF that we have, show Firewire 2 on the P58, I have to ask you guys something... What a hell went Wrong??? Why didn't Firewire 2 maked it's debut on this Machine as it is on this new PDF?
