On the BBC news here they're re-running clips of the original video when they first found them with one of the initial small 'search' drill shafts. What a fantastic job! Well done everyone...

Hello everyone!
I am wondering if somebody could help me. For the last 3 months I have been working on creating an animated stopmotion film. I have created the real 3D sets, done the clay figures and shot the still images. As I am not very good with computers and all the settings that there are, I just imported every single image from iPhoto into Imovie and changed the time lapse for each image to 0,2 and thats how I created the animated film. It looks good, but since the film is now over 5 min long, the software (or can it be my computer?)gets really slow. Sometimes I cant even watch the video, and definitely not in the full size mode, just on a small video image in imovie.
I am getting really stressed about this now since I have put so much work into it and just want to finish the project (maybe add another 2 more min) and export it to a dvd with as good quality as possible.
I started to read about imovie and discovered it isnt supposed to be used for stopmotion. So.. I just got istopmotion and did a small test reimporting just onescene, then trying to export it, and importing it into imovie (i like using imovie because of all the possibilities of playing around with contrasts and colors)
But now the quality of the images looks really bad. It isnt at all as sharp as before. I have tried so many different settings while exporting from istopmotion, but it doesnt seem to make much difference. I am working in 4:3 ration, and the best option seems to be HD ( but in 16:9 only) so that doesnt seem to work.
Does anybody have any advice for me?
Should I use a completely different software for this and start from scratch?
Or is there maybe just some small trick that I am missing??
I would be very thankful for help!
Lia
What codec is istopmotion exporting the video at? It's probably compressing the video before you send it back into iMovie which is exactly what you don't want it to do.

(Reuters) - The head of security at Massey Energy's Upper Big Branch mine was arrested on Monday on charges he impeded investigators and lied to them as they probed an explosion at the West Virginia mine that killed 29 workers.
Hughie Stover, 60, was chief of security at the mine and was accused of ordering an unidentified person to dispose of thousands of pages of security-related documents last month by dumping them into a trash compactor, according to the indictment.
He was also charged with lying to investigators who were looking into allegations that it was a routine practice to alert mine personnel over radios at the Upper Big Branch when safety inspectors arrived, according to the indictment.
Federal law prohibits anyone from providing advance notice of a Mine Safety and Health Administration inspection. Stover was accused of lying about ordering security guards to alert mine personnel when inspectors arrived, the indictment said.
"The conduct charged by the grand jury -- obstruction of justice and false statements to federal investigators -- threatens our effort to find out what happened at Upper Big Branch," U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said in a statement.

I've heard many here on the right parrot the GOP platform that government is bad, government regulations kill businesses, and businesses are overregulated. Reality is that businesses that donate exclusively to the GOP kill people; regulations are the only thing between those businesses and an even bigger body count; and poor enforcement and lack of government oversight leads to bloodshed.
If those on the right are tough on crime like they used to say they were, shouldn't they be insisting that the Wall St. executives and people at Massey do prison time? If not, shouldn't the Democrats take up the mantle of "tough on crime?"
Democrats, tough on crime. I like the sound of that.
Democrats, the moral majority. A little creepy, but accurate.
Democrats, fighting for you!
Anyway, back to the topic; it's a shame that the deaths of 29 workers are only being reported again because of more criminal behavior by the people that killed them. Shouldn't there have been a massive investigation and automatic shut-down of operations immediately after the accident?
Speaking of which, does anyone know the status of the Deepwater Horizen investigation and whether anyone is being prosecuted over that?

I think Apple would disappoint a lot of music lovers and more 'serious' listeners if they discontinued the Classic. There is no other iPod/iPhone with that kind of storage capacity.

Your best choice for sure. They have them in-stock (I just checked), plus they are a real store (they have a brick and mortar location in NYC). I used them before and they also have very good customer service. I compare them to Newegg, if Newegg had a retail location.

You know when you see a PC, there are a lot of ugly, distracting sticks on them. How come Macs don't have the stickers?
You just answered your own question. Apple doesn't need to put stickers on their box to sell the stuff inside because their design and brand is consistent across all outlets.
Also, they DO come with stickers (or at least they used to) but INSIDE the box for you to put on other stuff :)

both are pretty cheap brands (cheap in terms of price and quality). I have some cheap DVD's I bought a little bit ago (100 for $32 or something), and let me tell you, they are almost nothing but a problem. first disc I burnt failed halfway through, second disc wouldnt play in a DVD Player. I gave my friend a few of those DVD's so he could burn a master dvd to get printed and duplicated elseware, and it wouldnt work... then he put a Memorex dvd in and it worked flawlessly.
so basically, in my experience, the cheap DVD media is really only good for data, not video... its kinda hit or miss with video, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt... if you are planning on burning video, I would go with Memorex (I was able to get a 25 pack for $19.99, not too bad).

and would be sad if apple finally did discontinue it at this sept ipod update. I have a first generation classic and I still use it everyday unlike my touch or my droid x as music devices. I've always loved how it can hold almost my entire library rather than pick and choose like i have too with the other two devices... anyone else still in love with the classic?
You have a everyday use first gen iPod classic!!! Wow, surprise it still works since it is almost 10 yrs old. Would have throughout batteries or HD would fail with everyday use.
But you have less then 5gigs of music? Most ppl complain that the 64gigs is to small and that's why they need a 160 GB classic

Hello Broward! Anyone out there think there will be a line at the mac store at Galleria for the 3GS launch? Do you think they'll run out of 3GS on the 19th as well throughout the day?
Anyone remember how it was on the 3G phone last year? This could be a good indicator.
Thanks!

I'll cut to the chase,.
I'm in China with thousands of Yuans but am wanting to take most of it back home to deposit it into my Citi account back in the U.S. The reason i'm asking here where/how to convert the cash is in seeking the lowest possible service charge. I figured at least one soul out there would provide a useful answer.
The airports seem to charge quite a bit, with a 12% transaction fee. That'll easily amount to a couple of hundred bucks lost simply to exchange the cash.
Nevertheless hope someone knows of a method to utilize. Perhaps Citi will take big red bills with Chairman Mao on them...but in all honesty, i'm sure they prefer Benjamins.

Pitty it's so much; it is quite a fun toy.
I agree that it is basically a toy. I played around on the site for a good hour when it came out and thought it was cool but haven't touched it since. While it has a ton of interesting information, I have a hard time believing there's many people that find it useful and practical enough to justify the price.
Feel free to prove me wrong though App Store.
