The LX5 with wide angle conversion lens will go down to about 18mm. But it's not exactly compact. 24mm without it is still pretty wide though.

The App Store is still giving me the "All Apps are up to date" message.
What's up with that...?
Yes, it's confusing. Go to App Store, Purchases, Xcode, then click INSTALL. That won't actually install the product, but is going to put "Install Xcode" into your Applications folder. You launch it, and that installs the new version. Don't pay the $5 one more time.

I have the same problem. The paper clip icon is in the top pane, showing me that there's an attachment in the email, but the attachment button to save or view is NOWHERE. When I forward, there is no attachment included. Didn't have this problem 3 days ago, but I do now!

This isn't very easy to do. You can't do this when you're logged in to your primary account - you'll need to create a temporary administrator account to do this; you can delete the temporary account afterward. Once you're logged into the temporary account, open the Terminal.
First, copy your current home folder to the new location:
sudo cp /Users/(your user name) (destination)
Replace (your user name) with the short user name of your primary account and (destination) with the destination. The destination will be of the form:
/Volumes/(external HD name)/(subdirectory)
where (external HD name) and (subdirectory) are placeholders.
Second, delete your old user folder:
sudo rm -r /Users/(your user name)
Third, create a symbolic link that connects the old user folder to the new user folder:
sudo ln -s /Users/(your user name) (destination)
Fourth, verify that the symbolic link works as intended:
cd /Users/(your user name)
pwd
The destination directory should display after you execute the pwd command. If it doesn't, or you got an error when you tried the ln command, reverse the order of the directories:
sudo ln -s (destination) /Users/(your user name)
and repeat this step.
Finally, close the Terminal, log out of the temporary account and log in to your primary account. Check if everything works as expected.

I have macbook pro 13" 2011 edition. I'm trying to share a segate external HDD with win 7 computer. When I first started, I could only read the segate but not write. I tried NTFS-3g + macfuse and it didn't work since I read that snow leopard is 64 bit. So I installed tuxera ntfs and i can now read the external HDD. However, i still can't use my mac to write to my SD card that I use for my digital camera. It says "you can only read". Any ideas? Does 10.7 have native support for ntfs?

if it's still under warranty, take it in. If they apple guys find something wrong, it'll get replaced under warranty. No need to operate on the mac yourself.

I love my new eMac. Definitely maximize your memory to one gigabyte and you will be surprised how well it performs.
Also, you should use your student discount and get a free iPod Mini like I did. Does anybody know if you can you still do that? You should ask about that when you purchase. I purchased both my new eMac and my new iBook at the Apple Retail Store where I live and it was a wonderful experience. Everybody was very helpful and they told me about the free iPod Mini deal.
I'm a very happy owner of a new eMac, new iBook and FREE iPod Mini.

All seems a little curious. I'm not the world's greatest MS Office guru, but what about trying to produce a PDF from the downloadable trial of Word 2011? It seems to have better native support for producing PDFs.
I've got to solve my disk space issues before trying that. :p
What fonts are you using? What format are they?
I'm sorry to say this in the design forum, but Calibri/Cambria. Both are TTF and provided by Office 2008.

I wonder if Leo Laporte hired him at TWiT. On one of the shows the other day, he said they had a new employee coming in, but didn't say who it was.
That would be awesome! I love Leo and the TWiT podcasts.

I am trying to reformat an old lc475 to give to a relative. I have found a copy of my old os 7.6 system software on cd but the external cd drive I have only connects sometimes. It never connects when I make it my startup disc so I can run disc warrior on the 475s harddrive. I have tried using scsi probe but it doesnt help. I seem to remember another programme called silver lining but cant find it.
Any suggestions? does anyone know any freeware that might help me fix what I assume is a scsi problem?

I've got every nano since the 2nd generation, my favorite iPod still is the 3rd generation "fatty" nano, but I also like my 6th gen because it is so unbelievably small yet features a touch screen.
Even though the 4th incarnation of the iPod shuffle seemed like a step back (and capacitiy-wise it sadly is) I don't think Apple would go backwards with their iPod nano line. I could envision a slightly bigger nano (half the size of an iPod touch) featuring the "real" iOS with maybe some app restrictions but (please, finally) 32GB "disk space".
But hey, it's Apple. Maybe it'll stay the way it is with just a couple of features added, maybe it'll be something different alltogether. I just don't think The Return of The Clickwheel (amazing title for a movie) is ever gonna happen.

Microsoft yesterday released a set of updates for users of its Office for Mac productivity suite, bringing security (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms10-038.mspx) and performance fixes to Office 2008 and as well as a pair of ancillary updates.
Note the number of security fixes listed in the originals. Security is why Microsoft should finish its 64-bit Cocoa version, and why apps that you run that process data from [other computers/off the internet] need to be robust [security-wise]. This has nothing to do with running million-cell spreadsheets.
