Thanks for clearing this up guys. I work in the affiliate marketing industry myself. I fully support a successful website's use of good technology to drive affiliate sales. It's a major part of how the Internet works.
What is concerning to me is that I wrote a comment, "nice affiliate link" in that thread. And my comment was deleted. not flagged or edited -- deleted.
This is what lead me to believe someone was trying to hide something.
It is possible your post added no value to the thread itself and it appeared trollish. Where a mod may have known of the auto-affiliate fill-in, many here may not have. I am one of them to be honest. That said, if my reply to that post was "nice affiliate link" then I would only assume it was deleted because it added no value. This thread, your thread, adds a great deal of value because again, as a long-time member with a few posts up her sleeve, I really never noticed this happening nor did I stop to think about it.

I bought the zr30w. I actually really like it. Very rich colors and I love the matte! I got one from newegg, came with some lit pixels, but I'm sure they will exchange it as hp guarantees against stuck pixels on their 30"s.
That is great. It has DVI and DisplayPort. Since mDP to dual-link DVI adapter is 99$, just get a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort (http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246#1024606) cable for 5 bucks. Use that for the MBP and then DVI for the PC. Pretty much all GPUs have dual-link DVI anyway and a dual-link DVI cable is something like 5 bucks too.

The Late 09 Mini can handle 8GB RAM (2x4GB - so can the early 09 Mini, though the early 09 Mini requires a firmware update to be installed first).
I don't know if the RAM you linked to is compatible or not. Is there a reason why you're looking on eBay for RAM rather than buying it from some place else?

I shot some DV in 1080p and when converting it in iMovie I see this message that prompts me to believe that iMovie thinks that 1080p HD cannot be viewed by the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4. Is this correct?

Hi everyone,
I like to listen to my iPod Classic at night while I'm going to sleep but the lowest volume setting is too loud with the Sennheiser earbuds I'm using.
I know you can lower the volume of the tracks in the iTunes metadata editor, but then my music is too quiet during the day.
Is there a simple software solution to this problem? I'd like to avoid buying some piece of hardware, but I'm aware that an inline volume control of some sort may be the only solution.

Very interesting workflow. AFter much thinking and trying to use the laptop for another few days, I've copied everything back to the mac. I got tired of hearing the fans run consistently. I like the MP and definitely going to keep it. As for MBP, I dunno, I don't have much need for mobile. If I ever do, I can always buy a cheaper laptop. For now, I'll stick with the ipad. Although can't do work on it, it does work well for remoting/showing quick stuff to clients. Nothing beats a six-core, however.

Come on ... Apple got shunned for not allowing the iPhone 3G to get multitasking. If they hadn't updated it all, they would have been criticized to pieces.
So you think Apple should allow iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G, even though it cripples it beyond use? Waiting 10+ secs for an SMS to load etc etc. I downgraded my iPhone 3G back to 3.1.3 before giving it away.

Can MacRumors stop being butthurt and put up the "iPad" in the Buyer's Guide already? Many people from school, church, family have and still ask me about the new iPad 2. It would be really helpful to link them to the Buyer's Guide instead of the whole iPad forum were further search is necessary.
they will soon enough :)
besides you dont really need to link them to this site, you can just tell them to MRoogle it :p or just tell them... im sure you use MacRumors more right? so a simple: "Wait till Friday for iPad 2 or get refurb iPad 1 at a great discount!!" would suffice

I am thinking of staring a forum for my business and I like the software that this forum uses. It seems popular among other forums as well. Any idea of the name of it, where to get it, how much it costs, etc????
Also, I imagine they are a lot of work to update and keep running. Is anyone familiar with the logistics of how to operate one regarding advertising, upkeep, time input etc. I am sure it takes quite a bit of time (especially up front). It would be nice if there were already a how to guideline for getting ads and such and that it is way to much to go into on this thread.

What computer do you have? Do you have an express card slot?
If you do you can get an eSATA adapter.
SATA is not bus powered though.
Thanks for the kindhearted correction.
No problem. Trying my best to be an arse sometimes. ;)

Hi there,
I used a programme called Araxis Find Duplicate Files for this - worked very well. Seem to remember I downloaded it from the Apple site a long time ago, so It might well be in the App store.

Why is it every time a celebrity dies Elton John's comments have to be quoted? Does any one care what he thinks? I bet he never even met her.
Maybe because they were friends and raised millions for AIDS research.

Hey guys-
I've got a bit of a problem. I am doing some science-research-type stuff, and use a camera to record data (unfortunately, the camera is controlled by a windows computer). When I saved my data (~75 TIFF image slides), I saved it on a Win. with "All Files (*)" selected - not "TIFF Image (.tif)" When I transferred the files to my personal computer (macbook) to analyze them, they show up as Unix Executable files, that I can't open them (in Preview or ImageJ, the analyzing software). However, all the data is there - the files are ~20 MB, so that data's got to be there.
My question: is there any way to recover/recompile the original data from the files I have now?
Thanks a ton!
