I feel bad for any sucker who buys that. These ads are designed to appeal to people who know nothing about computers.

Will be at the AT&T on Milwaukee first thing Friday Morning. Still trying to decide on the upgrade from my v1 iPhone to v3G, but will be there to share in the fun and check it out up close (if I can get my hands on a display model!) to finally decide on upgrading. Chances are I am walking out with one (as long as they have a white one left!)
Anyone else in Boise planning on being there first thing Friday?
So glad MacLife isn't allowed to carry these (just lost their license to even carry ipods!), it would be a huge cluster f__ just like any average day trying to make a purchase in their unmanaged store.
See you Friday morning at Milwaukee!:D Please post if your in Boise and plan on attending!

Thanks for the reply!
He only has the 256M in the iBook... but it's worked fine for him before. It might have slowed down before when he had a bunch of things running, but never did programs crash and the computer reboot on its own. He doesn't do much with it... firefox- mail- ichat- word- itunes- iphoto. That's about all he runs. But starting last week.. the system went from running fine for him.. to being unstable.. it seems that "something" happened. I was thinking that the prebinding not being able to complete might be a clue to what that "something" was.
He has no external devices other than his digital camera..
I haven't tried anything with different users- I'll try that next.
I might end up having to do an archive and install.. but I was hoping to find and fix the problem. I'm sure I'll be plesantly surprized with how easy the archive and install goes.. (will I need to archive to an external drive?) I was hoping to use this opertunity to learn more about fixing OSX!

Try running "Activity Monitor" to see what is running on the computer. Let us now what you see.

For Football (I assume the American variety) get whatever the latest Madden there is. For EU Football, I prefer the Winning Eleven series. The NFL and NBA street games are VERY fun as well, especially for multiplayer.
Racing? Gran Turismo 3 and 4 if you want simulation (however the AI is non-existent, just AI cars on rails) Burnout as well for arcade racing+crashing (great fun after a few beers or shots if your into that) The ATV vs MX series are also a hoot.
I suggest hitting up a video game sight such as IGN or Gamespot and searching through your desired genres looking for games rated 8-10. The PS2 has the biggest AAA library out there due to its time in the market. Hit up sights such as half.com to find PS2 games for $1-5 (which is about the max I will pay anymore for a good condition PS2 game.)

wrong.
You can be tethered jailbroken and power down and back up without the jailbreak. You just can't have any apps installed like SBSettings. If you simply jailbreak your iPad tethered and power it down, it will come back online without the need for a computer. You will just not be jailbroken, so to rejailbreak, you need a computer to tether jailbreak it again.
Certainly not the first time I've been wrong, and likely won't be the last.. Thanks for the correction, sort of..

Honestly, given the current prices of the entry-level Macbook Pro.. the need for a Macbook is not necessary.. Just look at how powerful the entry-level Macbook Pro is and its only like 150.00 more than the MacBook.. Not worth it, I think Apple should dump the Macbook and just use Macbook pros.
150 is alot for some and many don't ned a mbp......

I just listen to CBC Radio 3 and pretend that I'm Canadian ;)
CBC Radio 3 (http://radio3.cbc.ca/) is awesome. I listen to Grant Lawrence's podcast and the R3-30 podcast every week. The Sessions podcast is amazing too.
I've found so many amazing bands because of CBC Radio 3.....

I've been frustrated with this too - the best I found was Picasa Web Integrator:
http://www.paulvanroekel.nl/picasa-web-restyled/integrator/
It takes a bit of effort to set up but doesn't look to bad in the end. It works with lightbox as well.
Good luck!

Is it normal for a DSLR to take 1 min 30 sec to connect to a computer? I plug it in and I timed it. Takes ~90 sec to show up on iPhoto. Any other old point-and-shoot camera shows up right away.
Should I be using another program to manage photos? I don't plan to use RAW images with Aperture or anything, just casual picture-taking and jpegs.
New to the DSLR world, would appreciate any info, thanks.

I like Lion on the whole too, but to say that there's nothing in 10.6 that you can't do in Lion is patently untrue. Just look at Spaces. In 10.6, you could move between spaces in a grid quickly and easily. In Lion, you can't do that and you can't change it back.
The fact is, there are some features that they did just remove. Most of which were done for the sake of making things "simpler" for new users, which is where I think a lot of people get the term "dumbing down".
Exactly. I hate when people take apart comments sentence by sentence with the same arguments then complain about your supposed complaining. Oh the irony
Most of these are new to Mac's, brought in by the iDevice craze and have no sense of what Apple and OS X used to provide.
Launchpad is a feature that equates to the iPad iOS, something that Apple has CLEARLY stated (simply another way to access applications based on iOS but not a convenient method for desktops as you have to select an icon one at a time into subcategories that don't make access easier but only adds extra steps). This is a feature that has been implemented for the average Joe-sumer. Apple has dropped major OS X developed into improving HFS+, little 64-bit architecture support for Proapps, lack of Blu-Ray support makes my job with OS X more difficult, no R.I. development, no mid-tower between the top iMac and entry level Mac Pro, spaces went from a useful 3D grid to the iOS 2D format which makes utilizing a system for projector based presentations more difficult (the grid made placing and accessing customized app placement easier for corp presentations), etc.
Professionals such as myself who have been around since the 90's and well before the iOS crowd have had these discussions with newbies for the past three years, and it doesn't resolve into anything other than hard headed new comers getting defensive and obstinate about what they know not. I take no issue with iDevices, I love my iPhone and iPad, however do not mux them with OS X. They should work well together but not be one and the same. In the past few years Apple has dropped focus on prosumers and as such a lot of us have and are leaving to use Avid and Premiere Pro and Lightroom on Windows or other platforms as we cannot afford to invest thousands of dollars in systems when there is evidence that Apple will drop us altogether,

Yeah thats it! Apple is ditching everything thats just about the Mac and making it all about the iDevices

I think we're making progress. What are the PC specs? How are the files being delivered? Can you try compressing a little more aggressively (the HD file info shows its 5 times the bitrate of the SD movies)? Do they have to be HD when delivered?

tried it on a mac and a windows and it still dont work.
i downloaded the recovery thing and there was 2 programs. 4.2.1 and 4.3.
i picked 4.2.1 because i am on 3.2.2 but want to go to 4.2.1
when i run the program it says alot of things but at the end it says
Hooking jump_to command
libusb:error [darwin_transfer_status] transfer error: timed out
Exiting libpois0n
logout
[Process completed] then all scrolling sentences on the ipad itself.
thenit just goes back to saying itunes with a pic of the usb on the screen
