I have to run my computer into the shop soon(lightning took out my firewire formac studio and lacie cd burner as well as the ports it seems.) i just want to know what i need to backup when it comes to prefrences and applications. essentially i want to know what to back up so i can get my apps running again if the guy erases my hard drive for whatever reason (i think i'll need another motherboard). I have a dvd burner but no second hard drive.

I guess if the person in question was being a complete tool, I see no problem with them suffering the mild embarrassment of having the "in time out" badge under their name. Its a wildly inflated ego who can't deal with a time-out title for a short time.

So you think Apple should allow iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G, even though it cripples it beyond use?
That is a pointless and incorrect exaggeration. I have used iOS 4 on my 3G since the day it was released and yes, in some situations I notice a slight slowdown but not to the point that it would be annoying and certainly not "crippled beyond use". Overall I find my 3G far more usable now with folders speeding up the process of finding applications greatly and the "quick switch" feature of iOS compatible applications also speeds up the launch of many applications significantly.

Yep the support article says this is 10.6.5 only so if you updated to Mac app store it's already been fixed.

Nah, why otherwise go to all the effort of pulling what you do as Shepard from ME1 and 2?
As far as exploring the galaxy and more RPG stuff, the announcement said that Shepard would have to get the galactic civilizations together to fight the Reapers, so presumably we'll still be flying around a bit. And for RPG, I think I read something that mentioned they'd heard the complaints about that for ME2 so hopefully that'll be addressed.
That's a glimmer of light.
I'm just worried, since other games I like have been going Modern Wafware or Gears of War to appease mainstream.
It didn't help my concerns when one of the uppers over at EA announced that single player games are dead and multiplayer is where it's at -- I'm wondering if he's the reason Dead Space 2 is getting the Modern Warfare 2 treatment? Anyways, I hope he leaves EA, or Bioware breaks off before any real harm can be done.
Anyways, I'll still buy this game and I really hope it has the best of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 combined.

sorry guys, but upon checking www.apple-museum.net (http://www.apple-museum.net/) today, I realized that the site is down...
there is an explanation on the site why (apparently too much traffic...)
it's pretty sad, since I always thought of that site as one of the best about Apple's history and Apple products of yesteryear (together with everymac.com (http://www.everymac.com/) and lowendmac.com (http://www.lowendmac.com/))

I'm a bit behind and just now watched the interview, but I do love watching someone so gifted and passionate about his job. I really liked how he stressed over and over that their (Apple's) main goal is make the 'Best product ever'. Really liked the part about Flash being a descending technology and they are more interested in ascending tech. I don't work in tech and do not know the validity of that, but I understand what he means and I for one tend to trust Apple in the future of tech gadgets.

No PDA. Steve Jobs recently said they designed one, but decided not to ship it.
Tablet, maybe. They patented a design recently (I think?). At any rate, if you do a search on the forums you're likely to find 9999999 threads on this.

For reference, make a little visit to Richland, in the eastern Washington state desert. There, you might find a variety of interesting species (http://www.mail-archive.com/ctrl@listserv.aol.com/msg00901.html) roaming Hanford Reach. And better still, they have never even had an accident there.

I've made up my mind, I'm going to switch after the new G5's come out. I have a couple of questions.
1. I do a lot of work with Oracle, and one of the windows programs I use is TOAD, which in unavailable on a Mac. Does anyone have experience running this in VPC?
2. I also have to connect to customers using a handful of different VPN clients (Nortel, Aventail, and CheckPoint). I plan on keeping my Windows laptop around for this, but am curious if any one has been able to make these kinds of connections through VPC.
Thanks!
