Its funny you should bring this up actually.

When I moved to the MBA I started getting real headaches from eye strain. It was recommended by my optician that I limit the amount of time each day for the first few weeks in order for my eyes to become used to the much smaller text size.

Needless to say that I now have no issues with it, but a higher res screen on a smaller physical screen size will of course mean the eyes need to stretch their muscles (hence the headaches) that bit more to focus on the smaller text. You'll either get used to it or you won't (depending on your own eyes) and if not then you'll have to lower the screen res.

    The basic idea is simple.

Create a view. Add to it whatever subviews you need, pickerview, done button etc. When you create the view have its frame be offscreen to the bottom. AddSubview the view to something that's onscreen and then use UIView animation to animate the frame of the view onscreen. Animate the view offscreen in response to the done button.

    OK, I solved this one.

Apparently the ATI drivers I downloaded and installed back in January did not properly install. They worked but they left some things undone. Installing a newer copy of the ATI drivers direct from their site cleaned up this problem.

How did I know that this was actually going to work? During the install of the drivers they name some of the items they are installing, which happened to be a whole lot of .NET items.

    Go figure

Hi all, i have SQLite table where my records stays as:

    Antenna
    Apple
    April
    Buffalo
    Ship
    Pill
    ..

To be able to display them on sectioned UITableViewController, i query the first letters from these records and create an array with them. Then for each letter in the array, i again query table and get each records starting with that letter. I guess you got the idea.

Since i do these operations in the app, it takes quite time (3-4 seconds) and app pauses in those seconds. I was curious if i can create those arrays and store somehow in the system. I can re-create them when i update the data time to time.

    Thanks a lot in advance..

I need to record the Line in on a iMic system to a file. I have lame and vorbis OGG installed via Macports. What command would I use to grab the line in audio so that the program could record the line in audio in the format I want to save it in?

    lame [options] foo.mp3
    oggenc [options] foo.ogg

Thanks for any tips or pointers to accomplish this task. I know there are Mac GUI tools to do this, but I need command line tools so I can do some manipulation and automatically forward the audio file.

I hope this is true. I have noticed that some movies have disappeared from the store.

I saw Waterboy was on there a while back and decided I would purchase it when I had some disposable funds. Last night I went on and Waterboy has disappeared along with another movie but I cant remember what it was called (t'was a war film).

Anyhoo... they really need some new content. The best film on the store in my opinion is Tombstone, which I already have.

Time Machine is not the best fit for your needs. Time Machine will let you tell it what you don't want it to back up, not what you do. In other words, you can't tell it to just back up your Music folder +1. Apple used to offer an application known as Backup which kind of does what you want, but its only available to MobileMe members at this point. You should also see whether the manufacturer of the hard drive offers a utility on the drive itself that allows you to schedule backups of a particularly folder. Someone else may be able to recommend other software for you to try.

I would like to keep my iMac for at least 5 years.

    Then get the new iMac.

Macs are typically the best value new. Yes, the refurb is cheaper, but $158.06. Over 5 years that is $2.63/month.

for a mobile account being administered over a network by and OS X server does it need for the mobile account to be logged in for someone to be able to remotely access the computer? Also what firewalls and protections are necessary to avoid allowing the network administrators to access the computer? Thanks

Remote access is possible with nobody logged in. As for your second question, it sounds like you're asking advice on how to circumvent the security configurations on the computer, so I'll leave that to someone else to deal with.
