We have several Minis which were a "stopgap" measure when initially switching from Windows. You can use a windows keyboard with a Mac but I wound up getting Apple wired keyboards for everybody at $50 (US) each. The Mini is adequate but the iMac is a better value if you can afford it.
The one place the Mini is the best fit is in the family room (instead of Apple TV, Boxee or Roku) as a boxee/netflix/pandora/clicker.com computer.

I dunno man, but for $200 more the 13" MBP is a much more solid machine than the MB (hence the value is there). The i5 CPU and graphics card are powerful enough for all the tasks you require and it's pretty much as portable as the MB.
However, if you have access to an iMac at home, then I agree with the post above that the MBA would be a pretty sweet pairing to that iMac. You can do all your content creation (music) and gaming on the iMac, while consuming content (videos, surfing, etc) on the MBA (while chilling on the couch or just about anywhere really). I don't believe that the MBA is powerful enough for heavy content creation, but it's display is very crisp and awesome for surfing and videos. The only downer is that the 13" MBA is way more expensive than both the 13" MB and MBP.
Now.. You mention iTunes.. If you are storing a heavy content load, then I wouldn't recommend the MBA, as the cool flash memory does not grant a lot of storage space unless you upgrade the capacity and that'll cost you a couple more bills.
IMO, as far as 13" Macs go, the BEST VALUE right now is the starting factory model MBP (Intel Core i5 2.3 Ghz CPU, 320 GB disk, and 4 GB of RAM).
Whatever you decide to go for, it'll be a sweet experience when switching from a Dell ;)

I really want to get rid of this. Price lowered to $25. That's $100 less than I bought it for.

I'm curious - what turned out to be wrong with the IIc? Did everything come out all right?
Internal PSU was fried. These plug-in to the motherboard (http://content.techrepublic.com.com/2346-13636_11-241950-39.html) (for those who aren't familiar). I never got a chance to repair it since it was quicker to swap it with one we had as a display of antique Apple gear.
The guy was extremely happy and we spent a little while chatting about the research. Something to do with water quality testing in the field, hence the need for a portable machine. :)

Sennheiser and Koss make some nice, reasonably priced headphones. I personally own the Sennheiser PX-100. They fold up to where I can store them in the same small bag I keep my iPod. The price for these is between $40 - $50 at Amazon.

Hi,
I am looking for an analog-digital converter to use with home movies from 10-12 years ago from an analog camcorder.
I am deciding between the advc-55 and the advc-100. I have read that both of them are excellent with good source material. However, I am worried that with my older movies, that there will be a noticable difference in quality in the transference to digital.
Can anyone comment on the difference between these two in this respect? Or any other that you think is important (as I may use this for the long-run for other types of projects)?
Thanks so much.

Hello,
I have just purchased an imac OS 10.6.7 and am trying to get away from my PC
Having a problem with Printers (amongst other things).
Following how to connect to a network printer - but when asked for the ip address - which computer am I looking for and where would I find the ip address.
Any clues would be much appreciated.

Good stuff... I just talked to a friend who works at this store and he said they've got more than enough iPads to satisfy just about everybody. I'm hoping the line isn't TOO long when I get there @ 3...

Very nice and well thought out design. I like to looks of this one, but I would think that the ICE would be a fingerprint magnet.

I use an external battery pack from New Trent. I have two different ones. I have a need to be able to charge multiple devices. The IMP 50 has both a 1 amp as well as a 500 ma port and will charge an iPad 50% as well for under $50. The IMP 500 will charge my phone several times. I use it mostly to charge my Verizon MIFI as the battery life on that is short. The IMP 500 is closer to $40. Shipping is free!

you might as well order from Amazon if you want to wait. I'm on the fence about selling so i think i'd rather keep it myself than sell for $50

There's pretty much no chance in hell of Ivy Bridge coming out in September, let alone anything earlier than 2012. The only thing we might see this year is a added spec bump option like the 2.8 GHz Core i7 option (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/20/15-inch-and-17-inch-macbook-pros-receive-2-8-ghz-core-i7-option/) that was added to the 2010 MBP's.

Hey guys-
I've got a bit of a problem. I am doing some science-research-type stuff, and use a camera to record data (unfortunately, the camera is controlled by a windows computer). When I saved my data (~75 TIFF image slides), I saved it on a Win. with "All Files (*)" selected - not "TIFF Image (.tif)" When I transferred the files to my personal computer (macbook) to analyze them, they show up as Unix Executable files, that I can't open them (in Preview or ImageJ, the analyzing software). However, all the data is there - the files are ~20 MB, so that data's got to be there.
My question: is there any way to recover/recompile the original data from the files I have now?
Thanks a ton!

^ But it's not too hard to do now. The iPad and iPhone have been out for years, and the DS even longer. I imagine they could do it.
I hope they don't, or rather I hope they don't ditch physical controls. I'd hate the next gen consoles to have an iOS-style controller setup, eep! That'd push me straight to PC-only gaming.

But the TV's are expensive...
It's not so bad now. For what I paid for a TV 2 years ago I can now buy the same brand, same size but in 3D (with other additional 2D features).
Personally I'm waiting for a more convenient display method like the 3DS.

Came across this video someone took right outside the Apple Store in Tokyo. Not really much to see but thought I'd pass it along:
