Ahh bus-powered is the term I was looking for. Thank you for all the informative replies, much appreciated.
Just some final questions.. is there any advantage to using a outlet-powered HD over a portable bus-powered HD? And how much difference will I notice between a 5400RPM and a 7200RPM drive? The difference in size would be 250GB, since OWC only sells up to 750GB at 7200RPM, is it really worth the speed?
Heck, is there a reason to use a portable? Now that I'm thinking about it, it's convenient, but maybe unnecessary. What are you guys using? Bus-powered or outlet?

Thanks Dale!
I thought the XTi was the 400D and the XSi was the 450? Either way, both cameras (as well as the 500/T1i) have a 2.5mm plug. The 40 & 50D use an odd tri-plug. The Remote I purchased came with the plug for the 40 & 50D (obviously) but I was able to buy a 2.5mm male-to-male hoping it'd work on the XTi, it did.
I'm just confused how another EOS Rebel won't accept the remote. It could possibly be that I had CHDK Firmware on my XTi. I'll look around for user firmwares, and check out the links you provided.
Appreciated!

My daughter accidentally deleted a playlist off my wife's iPhone 4. Shortly after, my wife synced the iPhone to iTunes to restore the playlist, not realizing that the playlist would then be erased from iTunes as well. Now the playlist is missing from the phone and the computer.
How do I recover this playlist in the least "damaging" way. I have an iTunes Time Machine Backup from a month ago, but I don't necessarily want to wipe out everything I've done since then if I TM backup iTunes. Where can I go to just grab that one deleted playlist from TM? Is there another way to go about retrieving this file? Thanks for your help!

I'm kind of right in between Oak Brook and Schaumburg so i'm debating which store to go to...I think it's gonna be Schaumburg though, if I do decide Oak Brook I'll just start screaming "Where's McPhallus?!?!" really loud...lol
Just shout it at the top of your lungs while wildly flailing your arms... LOL. This post has gotten 100 views... I wonder how many people will show up.

First impressions:
I like the version with the blue colored area.
The placement of "consultant" seems odd to me. I'm not sure if you're a Sales Rep Consultant (and it didn't fit on one line), or if you're a Sales Rep and a Consultant.
I'd be curious to see what the card looks like if the letters within the blue area were black rather than the light color.
Thanks for your opinion.
I have added image with black text replace the lighter colour. (Image 3)
I added consultant there because my role is kind of both, but more of a rep than a consultant (mainly added it because I wanted to cover the empty space).
Also, I added a green business card for a fruit and vege business. Is it too green in your opinion? As you can see Im a fan of 2-3 colours per image only ^^''
Again, appreciate the help.

From the FAQ:
What is an "infraction"?
An infraction is a semi-automated reminder from the moderators about a rules violation. The forum system sends you a standard message about the rule, and may include an explanatory message from one of the moderators as well. Even though one moderator's name is shown, it is not a personal issue; the moderators operate as a team and know of all assigned infractions.
Infractions are private. The infractions you see on your user profile page are visible only to you and the moderators.
Although the forum system assigns "points" and durations to infractions, they are meaningless in practice. We do not use these features. Instead, we use infractions merely as reminders about the rules.
Please do not ask others to share their infractions.
If you want to discuss it further, use the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page.

I just bought an MBP a few weeks ago and I want to add it to my active directory server. I read only there is suppose to be an application under Applications/Utilities but I don't seem to have it. Do I have to download something from Apple? Can I add my Mac to AD? Any help is appreciated.

Here's the issue.
I have a few folders on my dock that I click on to view the contents.
For example my documents or downloads folders.
If I delete the contents of the downloads folder for example and then click on the dock folder for it, it still shows all the same content in it's view.
If I go to that folder in Finder it's empty like it should be.
The files are gone it's just that the view doesn't refresh when it's on the Dock.
Only rebooting the system will update the view.
I booted off of the install disk and ran through Permissions and Disk repairs thinking maybe that'd resolve it but it did not.
Has anyone here had the same issue and found a way to resolve it?
It only happens on my one system, not any others.

If the school your kids go to use windoze, then you should consider getting a windoze box for your kids. You could turn your old laptop into a virtual machine and keep using it on the mac, buy a copy of windoze 7 and install it on your mac, or get a cheap computer to go along with the mac. Having the same version of word and powerpoint at home and school could make life easier.
I don't think this is necessary. My kids' schools have always been Windows only, yet they have only had Mac's at home. They learned to use (and dislike) Windows at school, and used their Macs at home.
The differences between Office on the Mac and Office on Windows was never a big deal - they don't get that deep into it for that to be an issue.
YMMV, but that has been my experience with two kids using Macs from elementary school through High School...

There's pretty much no chance in hell of Ivy Bridge coming out in September, let alone anything earlier than 2012. The only thing we might see this year is a added spec bump option like the 2.8 GHz Core i7 option (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/20/15-inch-and-17-inch-macbook-pros-receive-2-8-ghz-core-i7-option/) that was added to the 2010 MBP's.

i can do anything with beejive that i can do when i've used whatsapp, but have the advantage that i can also talk to people that don't have smart phones.....
BBM is a gimmick that is dying, look at the fact that RIM are now working on making BBM work on android and iOS... desperation there....
Really? You are always logged in and can't be logged out? Every single one of your contacts using those desktop services are always logged in as well and you can always communicate with them via that method!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOPE!
The beauty of a mobile IM application is that you KNOW you can communicate with someone via that method no matter what. You don't have to check first if they're "logged in" (then if they're not logged in go back and send an SMS instead) b/c you and your contacts are always logged in.
Throw in the fact you can see when the message leaves your phone, gets delivered, when a contact is typing, fast file sharing, group chats, location sharing, broadcast messages etc and it's not even close to the same thing. Sorry.

I remember when Ryan Block left Engadget and people were saying similar things, wondering about Engadget's future. Josh eventually grew into the role and now he's leaving. While it's sad to see him go, I'm sure someone else will eventually fill the spotlight.

I was thinking about this on my way home today.
If your driving on the highway you would obviously get better fuel economy if you turned off your A/C. But if you turned off the A/C and opened the windows of your car would the aerodynamics get messed up and reduce your fuel economy. If so by how much. It would obviously depend on the vehicle, but I'm just speaking in general.
Maybe I'll preform an experiment one of these days...
Click and Clack, the official source of this kind of information protest that using the A/C uses less fuel than the drag created by opening the windows (and really killing your aerodynamics).
