Viewers actually started to side with Windows because of his lovable underdog persona. Attacking your competitor is a double-edge sword.
That's why record sales of Macs continued unabated, right?

So that you can chat with people from your couch on a big screen instead of having to sit around a small computer monitor. A head shot is not the only use of ichat AV that would be popular. Grandparents, for instance, would be thrilled to watch kids crawl, walk, play, etc. in live color on their TV set.

Yikes! It's certainly not a faulty fan, but it could be a few other things. The fact that the computer froze during the spill indicates probable logic board involvement, and that there's no light on the power adapter confirms it. I'll bet that, if you managed to remove the main logic board and the battery connector, you'd find massive visible damage on the underside of the battery connector. I wouldn't exactly recommend doing so yourself (it's not very easy, and there's a possibility for further damage), but this would be a third confirmation that it's a logic board issue. I know that's not what you want to hear :(. The good news is that your data and your hard drive is probably fine :).
I hope this helps.

Can anybody recommend a decent SuperDrive replacement for my Mac pro 2008?
Just don't want anything buggy like the drive disappearing when the HD sleeps or anything of sorts.

New lighting, new cupboard (take a look at ikea), monitor/television mounted above the MBP and either a PS or XBOX for some gaming and tv watching..
Get a nice landscape picture for the wall next to your bed.. :p
Wow, great ideas!
You mentioned Ikea. We dont have Ikea in Brazil but I'll take a look at their website. Maybe I can import something or buy something similar here.

The update of the forum software seems to be having trouble with thumbnail quoting. Images that link to outside sites like Flickr produce thumbnails when is changes to [TIMG], but images posted using the "Insert Image" icon only don't. The ones that work end with . Those that don't end with [/IMG] only. Flickr seems to be the only photo hosting site that will generate thumbs. Thumbnail quotes that were posted 11/1 still show OK. See below.

You should be able to... even if it is a fairly old drive with SATA I (1.5Gbps). If your mac is recent, it has a SATA II bus (3Gbps).
Apart from the speed difference, which will be limited by the drive, it should work OK.

Is this possible? I understand that I can take Garage Band tracks and import to Logic Pro 9, but I want to go the other direction, i.e., I would like to use Garage Band on an iPad2 (not yet purchased) as the vehicle for playing backing tracks (for live performance) that I have built in Logic Pro
You can "bounce" the tracks to a WAV file then import them into GB. If they are MIDI I think you can save them and then import them back into GB But I don't think you can move a project.

Yes, it works under Tiger. I've bought it 2 years ago.
Now I wanted to search for un update and found out that Newtdata no longer exists. Any idea on how to download it from somewhere else?

Our family just started using Skype some time last November, so we are able to talk frequently with our daughter who is Stateside attending a university. Since mid November, I believe Skype has released some 4 updates. The audio is crystal clear on Cable. They're (forces behind it) Open Source type of folk and that's my lingo.

Been waiting in Chicago (not some small town, but Chicago for christ's sake) for way too long, we had the neighborhood wired for U-Verse for close to a year and still nothing. Seems for whatever corrupt reason AT&T doesn't want to compete and leave only Comcast (who I despise) as the only provider in my neighborhood. Hey Verizon, if want to make some more money just move into the Chicago area, then you can offer a package deal when you get the iPhone.

Yep, IE6 Win, which isn't so bad to make a design compatible, but you've got to avoid ordered lists with padding, explicitly set paddings and margins to 0 for inline text (mainly in lists), then tinker with the design for hours...It looks like IE7 won't be much better, but I'm just hoping it doesn't mess the CSS up any worse.
I hope Firefox use keeps on increasing-the new beta is great; it added mouse wheel support for scrollable divs, which IE has had for awhile. I installed NS4 just for the heck of it, and I was amazed at how poorly it supports CSS. I'm starting to use the @import method to hide it though...
I agree, I have been using the new Firefox beta and like it, it seems to load pages faster than the version 1.0.6 and seems to be pretty stable. I also hope that IE7 addresses some of the bugs in IE6, what I have read so far is encouraging, we will have to wait and see. CSS implementation should also be better in IE7, I hope.

Silly questions...
Why would a recently hired sales rep be designing a business card?
Doesn't the company that hired you already have an identity/stationery/business card that you should use?
What company allows their sales reps to design their own cards?

I mentioned this on the 28th in the mac general discussion forum. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10435
I found downloaded it and told people to look at the pdf files inside the stuffed folder, but nobody ever posted anthing in response.
For those of you who have not seen it it just has a small engineering scematic that says 1394b connector. It is not that informative abouit specifications just that it does exist. I will not post the files as per Arns's request.

Question for iBook users:
I noticed iBooks in a few different computer stores that had damaged keyboards. Those particular ones were beyond repair. Because it was with more than one, it made me wonder about how well the things are put together. Has this been an issue with iBooks? Maybe the original iBooks? Or are store customers just overly hard on them?
Still thinking on whether to get a new Powermac or a portable. I'll probably just get an upgrade card and wait another year.
