FYI, this is on the 2011 15" mbp. I am posting it here though as I find the mac pro forum to have the most informed posters of all the forums I frequent. Thanks!

I found this (http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000369.html) on slashdot and it really changed my perspective about the Tiger leak situation.
As a fellow college student I feel sorry for him. What's scary is that after reading the article, I can almost imagine the same thing happening to me. It's amazing how little thought and effort it takes to commit a crime now days.

So heres a puzzle for you all. I have a 2007 MacBook Pro with a broken disk drive that only runs CD's but not DVD's. Its currently running 10.5.8 of Mac OS X. Wanting to update to Snow Leopard, I acquired a copy, then tried various methods to use an iMac at my disposal to help me install Snow Leopard onto the pro. After fooling the Mac Book Pro into thinking it was a Mac Book Air to use Remote Disk, failing to find a firewire cable that could tether the MacBook Pro to the iMac, and finally creating a disk image in cdr format using disk utility then copying it to a hard drive to then copy onto the Mac Book Pro, i was still met with a notification saying the cdr must be burned onto a disk for the macbook pro to read. Right back where i started. Any ideas on how to do this without replacing the disk drive?

Alright so I made the mistake of installing lion on my macbook pro and would like to uninstall and restore from my time machine back up. Only trouble is, can I restore from a time machine back up made while was running lion? Or am I going to have to revert back to a point before that? I'll be installing Snow Leopard from an install disc.

Your list is a great start. If you master those things, you'll have some very valuable skills.
Keep it up!!
Thanks! I sure hope so, I was looking at a monster of a Javascript book the other day... got a bit of a challenge ahead of me, but I have liked coding so far.
I got my development job from learning PHP, once you start being able to hook into databases and write "real" functions (something that imo javascript isn't much good for) then you can do some really cool stuff :)
Just out of curiosity I was looking at job listings for web development and most of them listed PHP as something they wanted people to know, so I figured it was something I should be learning. Thanks for confirming that!

Steve Jobs isn't allowed to wear brown. -_- I was disappointed.
First he wears brown and then there is no One More thing.
Next thing you know he owns a Zune, and a brown one at that

whats the point of waiting, when you could begin enjoying the best operating system in the world. :D
That's it. The OS has never been better. Some people may argue that 10.3 was better/more stable but irrespective of that, 10.4 is way better than XP could ever pretend to be.
Don't worry about the Intel/PPC thing. The great thing about Macs is that you don't have to worry about what sort of chip runs it, that's something for the developers to worry about. :)

For some reason I have not been receiving my points. I recently re-built this computer and instead of the script i am using increase at the moment but I have not got any points. I have also installed folding on 2 amd 64 machines a week ago(they may not be on this week as school has not started) But I have not received any points for awhile and i know the mac has completed WU recently. Any ideas?

I think you need to own the product you want to sell before you sell it here.
Very true.
To the OP, please refer to the following thread (http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:Marketplace_Rules#General_Rules):
General Rules
Ownership. The Marketplace is for personal sales/trades of items owned by the members involved. You may not buy, sell, or trade on behalf of others. You must be in physical possession of any items offered for sale at the time they are offered.
That said, the item is currently listed as a "feeler" - I guess the seller is trying to gauge interest and value of said item.

Hey guys,
I hope I can get a better reply to this post. I have been getting these error messages from the SMB Name Server logfile, and wanted to know how I can get rid of them. It seems like two ip addresses (which are now dead) are still in the SMB Config file's gutter. Would like to clear that up. Here are the log messages:

Yeah still getting this, albeit less than DP1, in my opinion.
It looks horrible though. Hopefully a fix is found soon!
