The PDA is no more, you can fit all the good things about them in an iPod. Apple brought out the first PDA and the next thing they bring out is going to be another first......

I dont think that Apple will put out a PDA... I would like to see it happen.. but it wont. What I do think well happen is Apple will put out a next gen cell phone with PDA functions but will not go as fare as the trio or some other the other PDA/phones. It will be not much larger than the cell phones we have not.. but with a lot more features.
If it had a USB port on it and a terminal app that I can use to tip and use it as a mini console... I would buy 3 of them....
Maybe I sould just get a Sharp Zaurus... but I really want an Apple!
If Apple comes out with an iPhone... I will grap it up in a second!

Wiki searching has always been really crappy. You have to get the spelling right and you can't use small words.
In your case, I suspect you're running into a limitation with earlier versions of mysql where fulltext searches required a minimum of 4 letters. In building it's index, mysql threw out all 3-letter and below words to reduce the size of the index. The side effect is that "G5" and even "Mac" aren't searchable.
(Now, this is only a theory, as I haven't dived into the wiki code very far. Also, newer versions of mysql fix that issue).

This is precisely what I am afraid of. Why might a higher resolution, i.e., a screen with more detail, sharper images, sharper texts, make it harder or more of a strain to see/read? Is it only because the texts are smaller?
Well the higher res means that they can fit more detail on the screen by effectively shrinking the text etc because because it wont look pixelated and will give more space. Now thats fine on a large screen, but when it comes to the MBA and other netbooks, particularly the 11" MBA, the screen size is physically quite small, so the detail is shrunk even further in order to maintain the same ratio and high res. Difficult to explain and maybe somebody could do better than me.
Its fine generally as it's perfectly readable and makes for a nice amount of usable real estate on the screen, but it does encourage squinting, even for somebody with 20/20 vision.

Hi all
I was notified that there was a new version of iTunes available, but was wondering if it was safe to update in use with a jailbroken iPod?
Thanks!

Superdrives in laptops...easy.
Getting it to be slot loading and under an inch thick? Give it a couple of years...
Unless the pb form factor changes back to pismo like days, no superdrive this year.

Nothing, you can't do anything about it, so why bother?
You could stop buying Apple products if you feel so strongly about it, but I don't see that happening.

They're a legit company but have awful customer service if customer reviews are anything to go by. No personal experience though.

Sounds like the base 27" is good for you. Spend the extra money on aftermarket RAM since virtualization requires a lot RAM.

I have a question about inserting photos in your posts when using and iPad (pr iPhone for that mater). I just started using the DropBox app to upload photos to and then using a link to the file. But I was curious if I could do this using any of the services from MobileMe, which I'm paying for. There is the Gallery and iDisk available.
The problems I'm having are that the iDisk doesn't seem to let you upload photos to it, but it does create links to the file. And the Gallery let's you upload to it, but the files links it creates are to the phot's album on the MobileMe site, so the photos doesn't appear when I insert it in a post.
Am I missing something, or is Apple's premium service not as useful as I thought?

hello all,
Thanks a lot for your valuable information. There was redsnow installed on this phone before, So I uninstalled it. and still the att signal appears. it is running
4.0.2
with 01.59.00 baseband reflecting MC605IP model number.
are you sure All italy Iphones are unlocked? it was supposed to be on vodaphone.
Thanks a lot.
PS: for the person with 03. firmware, I wouldnt really recommend you getting a gevey or turbo sim, My friend has one and its a real pain in the butt. It wouldnt work 100% accurately. just wait for the unlock from Dev team, the unlock would definietly arrive when ios5 hits. which is in 2 months. So keep your fingers crossed
If your iPhone is still on 1.59.00 then it's definitely a soft unlock.

No mention of gameplay style, games, etc.
well it's about the olympics so that kinda gives a good idea of what games/sports are possible it's not like it's something obscure to imagine
actually sprinting, swimming and table tennis got mentioned so i kinda hope they add as many as possible... especially the not so well known

How is this related to local snapshots? I'm confused that just looks like a bug in time machine itself. Local snapshots in the current build can't be turned off that I am aware of.
Right, but that is the same background for Resume and it only appeared after local snapshots were enabled in the latest update.

Because your name tag is smaller?
no... The small name tag was just the tip of the iceberg. The only difference between me and the homeless guy standing outside of MacWorld is the fact that I paid $300 to get in.
I know Mondays are typically slow days for conventions, but Monday and Tuesday are only days we educators get. The mascone center has a lot of rooms in it. There is only one room I was "allowed" to go in.
I don't want a refund. I just think they should either offer more for educators or don't offer this type of package. As a macworld noob, I felt tricked. Eliminate the "special sessions" and let educators see the regular sessions and figure out how to apply the technology ourselves. I mean, I wasn't even able to see the microsoft office 2008 presentation.

I bet this will be fantastic, then spawn a crappy sequel that will tarnish the brand.
I just hope the "BioShock" name isn't being tacked on by the marketing department just to generate extra buzz for the game. I'm hoping there will be an actual connection to the world of Rapture, or Andrew Ryan, or something. The game itself though, I think looks really interesting, and I'm quite excited to see what comes of it.
