Hey Guys
So I'm trying to figure out wether or not I should select a SDD Hard drive, when I buy my new Macbork Air and in that relation I hope you can clear something up for me.
Is it true that you have to keep a certain percentage of the memory "free" to continue the speed of SDD HD? Does it get slower when it is completely full?
Best Regards

i don't want to be to much of a b**** to the kid. He made his very large mistake and I think that he learned his lesson from his totalled car, broken arm, and extremely jacked up insurance bill. It wasn't my car though- am I still eligible? You should of heard me lecture him. Haha.
His insurance company is going to drop him I swear. $70,000 car, 2 doctor's time off from work, our medical bills, his destroyed car....
First, the kid won't get dropped unless his insurance company is something stupid like Freeway Insurance or Survival. I was in a bad accident, 17, hit a car, deemed it was 100% the other lady's fault, had Allstate at the time. They hired a team of attorneys to battle for me because she tried to sue despite the fact that she ran a stop sign in front of two motorcycle cops. Long story, even if it were my fault I wouldn't have gotten dropped. Allstate later wanted to raise my premium to twice the price, but that also had to do with the claim we had for the 1994 northridge earthquake and tore our house in half.
His premium will go up either to something wrongfully high or he'll get a bump that will still sting. If he's dropped, again it'd have to do with the crappy insurance. I can kill a person and my insurance would cover it. I have great insurance and I carry 100/300/100 plus a few extras.
If you were in the car the girl's insurance has something that can help you as well. It's all about liability and you should be taken care of.
Lastly, suing a minor is really stupid and anyone actually suggesting that he sues a minor needs to do some research. The kid won't have to pay. At least my lady waited until my 18th birthday.

Go to "System Preferences > Network" and see if there is an "Ethernet" option on the left side panel. If not, try to hit the "Plus" button on the lower left hand side to create a new Location.

When Doom 3 was most recently shown to the public (at QuakeCon in August), it was running on a Radeon 9700 using a Pentium 4 chip (either 2.2 or 2.4 GHz).
As for Carmack's comments, remember that he said that the best experience with Doom 3 as of now, not when the game will be released, is with a Radeon 9700. By the time the game is out the door I'm sure the 9700 will be relegated to "not quite the best" status.
And yes, I have heard that ATI may well put out a 9700-on-steroids model late in the fall, but we'll have to see how it compares to the NV30.

Apple stopped caring about computers as much. Perhaps they will come back as iOS vs Android when Apple hits #3 in smart phones in a few years.

My own take on Sackboy, hes not the same as the regular one, because well, i kinda got bored after a while.
Anywho, Sackboy & Son took me about 3 hours in C4D. Probably about 75% finished.

Here's the issue.
I have a few folders on my dock that I click on to view the contents.
For example my documents or downloads folders.
If I delete the contents of the downloads folder for example and then click on the dock folder for it, it still shows all the same content in it's view.
If I go to that folder in Finder it's empty like it should be.
The files are gone it's just that the view doesn't refresh when it's on the Dock.
Only rebooting the system will update the view.
I booted off of the install disk and ran through Permissions and Disk repairs thinking maybe that'd resolve it but it did not.
Has anyone here had the same issue and found a way to resolve it?
It only happens on my one system, not any others.

Hey guys,
Hope everyone is doing good, I would like to ask if anyone is experiencing a delay from Apple and retail stores regarding the white 32GB iPhone 4. I can't seem to find any in stock at any retailer :(.
I ordered mine via apple online UK but still waiting for them to change the status to preparing for shipment.
Talk about demand for the 32GB version, the 16GB is available everywhere near me.
Hmmm....I'm not sure. I guess some ppl were waiting for the white iPhone 4 in 32gb.

Why didn't they use the built in microphone for the singing? It looked like you just needed to touch the correct row?
I can't believe what they did to the singing. EA... this is a phone, which means it had a mic. WTH?
ya! this is lame. they should take a lesson from "i am t-pain" which shows that pitch tracking is possible on the phone.

Thank you.
As a means of closing this thread out:
I entered all of my devices into the list (MBP, iPhone, iPad, ATV2, PS3). Also, I noticed I had an issue with a connection so I had to add my AEBS MAC addy into the list too, presumably so the two can talk to each other.

In my opinion (and experience) the Geforce 4 MX is a pretty ordinary card, not much better than a Geforce 2 MX. It's aimed at basic consumers. Even a Geforce 3 is substantially better.
If you're serious about games, and especially the amazing upcoming stuff, you need something better. A geforce 4 mx WILL end up being the bottleneck in a system like yours.
I wouldn't want to run Doom III on less than a full Geforce 4, and preferably whatever is the best at the time.
According to Carmack, the upcoming nVidia card makes all of his past work, including Doom III, obsolete. Personally, this makes me wet my pants.
And speaking of carmack comments, I wouldn't pay too much attention. Of course he ran on an ATI 9700. He's trying to sell the thing... he would have been using the best hardware he could get. BTW, out of curiosity, what sort of computer was he using? A mac or a PC? I'd be interested to know. I'd assume a PC.
Oh.. another quick point is that while RDRam is horribly expensive it IS extremely fast. DDR400 is starting to get close, and things like the nForce2 motherboard get amazing speeds from it due to completely overhauled architecture, but DDR400 is still really very immature technology, and at least on the Pentium4 RDRam is still the choice for the top end of performance.

Have you seen my edit to that post? Just in case it helps...
The UK price is about the same as the Canadian new base model plus our 13% sales tax. I'm guessing your price doesn't even include VAT so it still looks more expensive.
Interesting though!

Any ideas?
The eject mechanism is stuck partway up or down, and/or it's not lubed enough to work well. You'd do well to strip the machine down and give the drive a good going-over.

So i ran a port checking tool and these are the results. I expected port 80 to be closed because I disabled the web service however mail is on and smtp is enabled with ssl and yet 587 continues to be closed as if nothing were listening on that port.
