Hi everyone,
I want to install panther on my iBook. It only has a CD drive though and pather is on DVD.
Could it be possible to use my powerbook's panther install disk on my iBook?
My plan is to target the iBook's drive onto my powerbook, put the SuperDrive, and tell OS X to install onto the iBook's Drive.
Will this work?

well I've just had a quick play with QEMU for the first time and I'm quite impressed. For a free piece of software it's quite polished and seems fairly stable. speed is definately not one of it's plus points though - linux reports a 38Mhz CPU on my 1.8Ghz dual G5 :-) It is slugish, but workable for basic tasks. I haven't used VPC 7 yet but VPC 6 on my old G4 always performed quite well so in the speed stakes I would suspect that VPC blasts QEMU out of the water - but VPC's not free....
I iEmulator has done nothing to the base QEMU package then I suspect all it's adding is a better UI - personally I'd rather stick commandline or use QemuX

I believe I do have a backup from 10 Apr that is a Lion back-up. Can I restore to that point and then partition and reinstall snow leopard?
I want to be able to boot to either.
Thanks

I'm desperately hoping for this to be the much-needed AppleTV update. I spent my Apple TV money on an iPad (which I LOVE; it's perfect for school), but I would eat rice noodles for a month to purchase a new AppleTV.
The only thing that bums me out is that we're unlikely to see native Netflix support. However, with the rumored inclusion of iOS features (like an app store) may mitigate that.
What are you guys looking for out of an AppleTV hardware update? I'm hoping for 1080p and a better ventilation/heat sink situation. The AppleTV today gets ridiculously (almost worryingly) hot.

Firstly I am a woman.
I do love pink and sparklie things.
However, I also like things that will last, work for a long time and are protective.
Therefore I use a Mobi battery pack case. It adds a considerable amount of weight but a lovely 2 more days use. Moderate use and I know if I drop it, nothing is going to break or shatter unless I drop it face first on a rock.
good luck.
I consider the case a protection of investment and so I use a screen protector that is like the original surface, you cannot even tell it is there.
Protection, durability, endurance....

Link: GarageBandCreations.com, today, launched it's new site (version 1.0) which features the "Auditoriums" Section for users to share their GarageBand Creations and those from other applications. Though other GB sites advertise a similar feature, the GBC Auditorium is currently the only one actually working. (http://www.macbytes.com/link.php?sid=20040114193707)

I wish there was a way to track down these people and cut their balls off.
Sure, few here would fall for this but there are millions of not-so-tech-savy people who fall for this sort of thing

Hi!
Thank you both for replying and for the advice!
I have tried to export using imovie and then reimporting, but to me the quality didnt look so good. (the colors got faded for ex)
I think I will continue testing different exporting modes istopmotion like you suggested and/or also look into the Dragon software.
Thanks again for taking your time to reply!
All the best to you!

2 MB!!!!!!!!!
Aside from starting again and re-considering some of your choices, at 2 megs it sounds like your trying to accomplish a bit much. But anyways here some tips:
1)Replace any images you can with Vectors as appose to imported bit maps. You can accomplish quite photorealistic pictures with vectors as shown on Vector Kid (http://www.vectorkid.com/tutorials.html)
2)External flash movies!
Try breaking the sections up into separate .swf files and calling them in externally. That way they'll only load when the user visits that section.
It's what I did here (http://www.jasondorn.com/sept_2004/) and my main swf was only 86kb, which is still high for web and part of the reason I switched from that design(and the fact it was just a bloated site)
But external flash movies can cut waay down on load time.

Nope no BTO at amazon.
macconnection might offer it, but no rebates on non "stock" models.
powermax in Oregon is your best bet for BTO and no tax in CA. You do have to pay shipping, figure $30-40 for that. Still a lot less than $200 sales tax.

I would probably call and complain about the issue. You may have better luck calling than going in a store. If the CSR says no, ask for his/her manager and climb the ladder accordingly. Good luck.

The price isn't too awful here in Canada, but a $179.99 cdn price tag (from $199-229 depending) would make it only $30 more than a DS Lite and make it more competitive. A better battery would be nice, although for day to day use it lasts okay, and you can always get another one to plug in when the one you are using dies (unlike the DS :() The MS isn't bad now, I saw a 4GB Duo for $69.99 and 2GB ones are always under $75. I have a 1GB one and it has enough room for 3 south park episodes, a movie, and some MP3's.
If they do a PSP Lite, i'm the first one at the store.

They suck!
No not really, I prefer the one that looks like an "o" better though. But the concept seems a like far from Apple and macrumors. I mean, a rollercoaster? where's the link? The whole MacCoaster seem stretched. But they still look cool :)

The same way you always upgrade a jb phone;
1. Upgrade to 4.3.3 in iTunes
2. Re-jb
3. Reinstall all jb packages or use pgkbkup to restore them (after backing them up before Step 1)
Thanks... will do that!!!

i know that will work for another drive, but doesnt it read Partitions differently?
Well, it's just a path you put in the netinfo, so as long as your partition is mounted somewhere in the directory tree, it should work. Though admittedly I am using a completely separate drive.

Don't suppose you know how to make the new settings the default?
I mean....since I'm picking your brain......
